User Roles: Restrict access to manual journals
It would be useful if it were possible to restrict the posting of journal entries to specific users.
Hi Margaret, thanks for raising your idea here.
Just want to add that it's only possible for adviser or standard + reports roles to view, edit or post Manual Journals.
Does that change your idea here at all?

Yes Journal access should have a separate control. Even some standard and advisor users should not have access to Journals.

Payroll journal when posted to Xero should not be open to be edited by any staff but limited to senior access or a double approval process. I find that junior staff can and have edited journals coming in from Simple pay on Xero which we only pick up at year end when doing a salaries recon

Yes we also would need this (and am surprised it's not an option already). It's an expectation of our auditors, that there is separation in responsibilities. One team member can enter and create journals in draft form; a separate team member approves manual journals. It would seem sensible to split that between Standard and Advisor roles.

We need to restricted our user who have standard access, to only drafting manual journal entries and not to post them.

This is so organisations can allow the employees to only make manual journal draft entries and not to post them.

I need my team to be able to see Balance Sheet, Profit/Loss of the operations; however most of the users must not be able to create/post manual journal. Could Xero please add this function ? Thanks!!

Preparer versus Approver roles to allow for review and approval of journal entries and prevent editing of entries without approval. Lack of approval poses an internal control issue.
