Hi team, this report has been split out from a previous one that requested the addition of both payroll and tracking summary reports to Report Templates. It's unlikely both these reports would be added at once, and it's good to track the interest in each.
While we have just released a new Tracking Summary report in Xero this isn't something that's been added to Report Templates just yet, if there are any plans for this we'll let you know here. Thanks

Thanks for sharing your idea to include GST reports in report templates.
We can see how this would be a real time-saver, especially when you’re building out report packs for clients or internal teams. There’s clearly a strong appetite for this feature, and we understand why. Being able to add GST reports directly into templates would simplify the process of creating complete, consistent report packs for any purpose.
This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. That means it's open for voting and comments, and we’ll continue to monitor interest from the community. Your input helps inform how we prioritise future updates to Xero. We’ll keep you posted here with any developments.

It would also be great if the GST reconciliation report doesn't need to be run from the first period the Xero file started being used for the reconciliation to make any sense. Surely there's a way to adjust it so that previously submitted BAS amounts come off the starting balance figures, especially where the GST Reconciliation report has been published for the previous period.

Hi community, we appreciate hearing your interest around the reports that would be useful for you to use in Report Templates.
We have decided to split the request for Payroll reports and the Tracking Summary report as it is unlikely these would both be added at once.
You'll find the new idea for the Tracking Summary report across here and this one will remain centered around Payroll reports.
We want to be honest that we don't have any plans at this stage for adding payroll reports to Report Templates. But, our product teams are aware of the interest surrounding this and we'll let you know if there is any progress on this idea.

Hi Margaret, thanks for raising your idea here.
Just want to add that it's only possible for adviser or standard + reports roles to view, edit or post Manual Journals.
Does that change your idea here at all?

Only users with Advisor level access should be able to post manual journals; or have another permission setting so that we can turn the ability to post journals on or off depending on the user's skill level (some clients we work with would understand the concepts, but the majority do not even though they think they do).

Related to this, I've just discovered that if the debit and credit columns are unselected, the opening balance doesn't show - apparently this is because it needs to show in one of these columns. The system needs updating so that the opening balance shows in the running balance column in brackets if a credit balance and positive if a debit balance.

Being able to add any report to the advisor level management reports is essential, particularly for those clients using the Budget Manager. At the moment, these types of reports can only be added to the Client Level Management Report rather than the Advisor Level.

I wasn't even aware that this was a problem, as the only client so far that I've used the report for happens to be a Monday to Sunday pay week. This definitely needs to be adjusted for to at least coincide with the weekly calender schedule set up at the individual file level.

Please bring this in - it would make it much easier to have the ability to filter or at least have the column displayed to identify at a glance which bills are paid via credit card, BPAY etc.

We use an invoice as a template to take up daily sales from the external POS system, and there are a large number of different line items with different account allocations. There is an issue at the moment with the chosen account allocation not saving to the account selected, with a seemingly random default account chosen by the system, which I believe is a known issue that the Product Team is investigating.
As part of solving that problem, it would be great if the account allocation isn't shown on the finalised invoice for any lines with a $0 value.
The ability to have a daily repeating invoice option would also be handy.

Hi team, I'm pleased to share that we are moving this idea to In development. We know ease of being able to create new accounts while you invoice is useful to our customers and our team have a focus on this.
I'll be back to share when this is ready and shipped to you all 🙂

525 votesHi community, we appreciate the continued traction this idea's received, and do want to provide clarity and set expectation.
Your feedback has been valuable in understanding the needs of using description only lines to; add subheadings, provide context for grouped charges, and ensure your invoices are easy for your clients to read and understand.
To reconfirm, atm - You can add one-off description only lines as you enter an invoice. However, if you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you'll need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
- We know some users have set up and saved inventory items for description only lines they commonly use, however as the item code field is used for inventory items the line of the invoice is treated as 'financial' meaning you'll then need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax…

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your support for part disposal of Fixed Assets in Xero. Being transparent - current work for the team requires focus on upgrades to Fixed Asset technology.
However, we’re thinking of what comes next and partial disposal of an asset figures strongly in this. Please continue to detail your particular use cases here in Product Ideas.
As we continue forming the future of Fixed Assets in Xero insights from Product Ideas here will feed into the team's plans.Emily McCahon supported this idea ·

It would be great to also be able to include people in a document pack that don't need to actually sign anything, but do need to see reports e.g. management reports that are sent with the BAS which gets signed by a different person.

Hi team, following on from my last update though our position remains that we don't have plans for making all reports available in report templates we wanted to share a recent change we have made.
We have unlocked the ability to add client-specific custom reports to Adviser packs, giving you additional flexibility and more comprehensive reporting, which we know has been a key request for some in the idea here.
As mentioned in our last post - we're very keen to continue to understand the interest in specific reports, so if not already please make sure to add your support or start an idea for a the report you'd like to see. Thanks

It would be great to be able to add the tracking categories as columns in the account transactions reports at an advisor level - would save having to remember to add them in at a client level (and remembering which clients actually have tracking categories in the first place).
