Sales Invoice | Expected Dates - Bulk Update
The "Planned Dates" feature in Bills to Pay works extremely well. Key element is that you can bulk update dates as required from a multiple selection.
The "Expected Date" feature has the same potential but also needs to be able to update invoice "Expected Dates" in bulk.
Invoices cannot be updated in bulk from Short Term Cashflow if a part-payment has been made against that invoice. Also, you can't update invoices Expected dates if they are not due yet.
Thanks for the detail of why the Short term cashflows option is not viable for you here, Karl.
We don't have any immediate plans around this but will keep an eye on the appetite here and let you know if there's any plans made.

With so many businesses under pressure it is critical that we can be more effective in managing the planned cashflow via a bulk edit option. Tell me one small business that is getting paid on the due date with all customers.

Thursday, 20 June 2024 10:21 amWhy do you have to be in Awaiting payment tab of invoices to add a note or payment expected
All the staff in our office are so frustrated that if you want to add a note or expected payment date you have to be in "Awaiting Payment" tab.. Why can't it be in "All" as well.. So frustrating!!
Even the ability to email or print by ticking them on the left like in awaiting payment would be fantastic. It's so annoying to look up an invoice in ALL and then want to add an expected payment date or email it to another person in the clients organisation to then have to go to awaiting payment and start again. I don't want to have to open the invoice and then go to the bottom to add the payment expected date...why is it only awaiting payment that has this feature?? -

I would like to see expected date on new invoice layout… it’s essential for credit control

Bulk Update is much more important for invoices than bill. If I raise a batch of invoices which will be paid by DD, then they will all be paid on the same day. Furthermore, when updating the PAYMENT DATE on a bill, this requires TWO mouse clicks per bill, but when updating the EXPECTED DATE, it requires FOUR mouse clicks per invoice, or FIVE if the date is in the middle of next month..
Typically, when adding expected PAYMENT Dates, every bill has a different date, and different terms, so whilst Bulk update is useful here, it is nowhere as much use as on Sales Invoices.
Just had to update 50 invoices, which required 250 mouse clicks, to set 3 different dates ! ! ! This is daft.
Alternatively, add an option which allows us to set the expected payment date to "Invoice Date + Normally pays in X days"

Agree. Having bulk updates of the expected payment dates for bills works efficiently. The only laborious task I have and dread doing on Xero is adding expected dates to sales invoices. Having one or two is easy, of course, but having typically between 70 - 100 to do is very time-consuming and not a good use of my time.

Really would like to be able to multi select and update expected date in bulk in Invoices Awaiting Payment section

Yes please! With Business Analytics it requires Invoice 'Expected Date" to work effectively. Can this be automatically set in the first instance to the due date?
It is time consuming having to manually enter every invoice due date when you have many a week and undermines the ease of business analytic reporting. -

I have just raised a support ticket for this myself, and have been sent to this page to add my support for this feature!!
It seems bonkers that we can add outgoing scheduled payment dates in bulk for bills, yet no similar feature exists for incoming payments on sales invoices!
Forgive my ignorance, but I cannot understand why this feature isn't easy to add!
However companies monitor their cashflow, not being able to record in the software when customers have communicated they will fail to meet due dates, makes things so much harder....over to a spreadsheet!!
Please add this feature Xero!! -

Agree! Having the option to bulk add an Expected (payment) Date would save so much time. Would be such a simple addition yes extremely helpful

An option to add Expected Date in bulk for invoices would be amazing! Having to do this for each individual invoice to forecast weekly and or monthly is so time consuming.
We use another software that integrates with Xero for our forecasting. To get a more accurate forecast of what we can expect in the way of payments on a weekly basis. I add the Expected Date in Xero. For clients who I know will always pay on the 20th it would be so useful to tick those clients and add the date rather then having to do it one at a time. -

This principle could also be applied for turning off/on automated reminders.

Within Sales overview › Invoices, Please allow batch updates to expected payment dates. At present I have to amend each expected payment date individually on each individual invoice. This is so laborious. Please create an option to be able to tick multiple invoices (from differing clients) to input the same expected payment date. It is essential we update these dates for cashflow purposes but it takes so long doing it one by one.

Jumping on this to agree - it would be so useful to have "planned dates" for customers paying invoices in bulk. I can't add a planned date per invoice for customers paying 25+ invoices with one remittance - it would take too much time and add 1 note per invoice to the customer's page, which would just be ridiculous.
This feature would be so simple, yet so helpful.

I completely agree with the need for being able to do a bulk update of customer expected payment dates. It works perfectly for inputting payment dates for bills, i cant understand why this also wouldn't be a feature in sales invoices.
