Reporting - Expand & collapse groups in report (rather than Layout editor)
After grouping accounts using the 'edit layout' function it would be great to be able to either expand or collapse each group while viewing the report, rather than having to go back into the 'edit layout' section to change the way the group appears.

I'm bewildered that this isn't already built in. Creating groups but then having to edit the template to open and collapse them is a poor solution. This is effortless in excel.

A collapsible feature is a great add on the reporting format.
Like my client doesn't want to show a detail list of Shareholder's Contribution (SC).
If Xero has the collapsible feature, I can just group the SCs and then collapse it.
It should have been easy peasy!Hope Xero is able to consider this. It's a great value!

In the aged receivables report it would be useful if you could minimise groups so you could only see the total line, then expand for more detail.
Also the ability to sort the contact groups the same way as non grouped accounts. When you sort the Groups just sit at the bottom of the report in alphabetical order regardless of how you decide to sort the report. -

I would love this report feature we have to create a summary and detailed version for every report
It would be so much easier and transparent for clients to have one version where they can expand any areas that has been grouped
On a side note MYOB AR Web has this feature -

Contrary to other user's comments, I'd like to be able to expand groups when exporting the P & L Budget Variance report so that rows display if they have had transactions in previous months, even if there's nothing in the month of the report.
At the moment, even expanding the group in layout is not giving me all the rows when I export, only the totals (unless there's a transaction this month).

There is no option to collapse the groups on the profit and loss account so the report can just be run by group totals. The retired version used to have this facility. Balance Sheet has this facility. This is really useful when you want to run a P & L without seeing all the background accounts. Is this something that can be re-reinstated?

Crazy that this can't be done! The P&L report for example has two functions - to provide a clear summary of different categories of items on the P&L, and also to enable the user to click through to individual accounts.

You can do this in other accounting software. This goes along with the need to be able to run a P&L Detail report that automatically shows tranaction detail below each account line. Please create.

When you manually create a layout for the Profit and Loss Account or Balance Sheet that has grouped accounts it makes no sense that you can't expand or close these groups from the preview. Currently you have to go into edit the layout and then open the groups you want before updating the layout.
Surely it can't be difficult to add something to open and close these groups without having to do this as it really is quite frustrating.

I can't believe this isn't already a feature... I searched for 30 minutes thinking that I had missed something. It's pretty obvious that if you have a group then it would be good to be able to collapse the group to a total.

This feature would allow clients to change the way they view their reports without having to learn how to edit the report layout & possibly change settings that have been created by adviser inadvertently.
