  1. Xero has a gap in handling Fx gains/losses.
It is great at both Realised and Unrealised on bills and invoices but it drops the ball on Cash at Bank. It treats it all as Unrealised, which is where the flaw is.

You can have an empty currency bank account which has a residual functional currency balance and has movements on the TB every month due to revaluation. This is clearly nonsense.
I have also been told to ignore the exposure column on the Fx report as it is meaningless.

For Fx gains/losses Cash is a document in exactly the same…

  2. When someone edits a transaction, we should be able to see what changes were made in the notes section. It isn't helpful just to know that a transaction has been edited, we need to be able to track what changes have been made for auditing purposes.

  3. VAT Return -
a client view would be useful, which would exclude invoices that are reversed out via prepayment / accrual reversals, or invoices that are reclassified. These inputs and reversals confuse the client, and aren't necessary. However, inclusion in the accountants view is obviously useful.

  4. Imported bank statements - propose for Xero to spot "duplicate" transactions as to remedy this situation I had to process a large number of lines one by one across a number of different accounts

  6. A common problem importing bank files is the reversal of Debits and Credits. This is especially common with Credit Cards.

The "fix" that Xero recommend is to modify the file with a spreadsheet editor. This is only possible with CSV files and is error prone.

A setting to reverse credits and debits when importing bank files would be immensely useful when your credit card provider statement has it's debits and credits reversed.

Or maybe allow a bank to be treated as a Liability?

  7. It still seems absolutely staggering that you can't add a column to the payable invoice summary report showing to which customer each invoice has been billed.

It would then be very easy to scan down and see if any invoices which should have been billed out haven't been.

Missing assigning an invoice to a customer is a major area of financial risk and it's so easy to do on Xero and no way to easily check.

Many people are unhappy about this and surely the big concerns and risk areas should be a priority? A business could easily lose tens…

  8. It would be a massive help if you could click on the figures on the CIS suffered report to see which customer invoices make up the report figures. Clients often ask me which invoices are included and I have to manually work out where the figures come from

Hi all, wanted to share a workaround here for those who aren't already aware.

You can run the Account Transactions report on a cash basis and if you filter it by the CIS Labour Income or CIS Asset account, you can see the invoices which have been included in the CIS Suffered report.

We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality on the CIS Suffered report. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

  10. New reports - enable data capture in links

Currently - if you select a specific date range or filter and then link to this report, that data is lost and upon clicking the link you get the default report and have to reselect the data.

It would be useful and time saving to enable the link to capture that data - the same as the old versions of the reports

  12. Reporting - to run a report that can show payment information (eg. paid date) and reference/item information.

A report under cash basis does not show the reference that I put on the invoice reference or the item information chosen in the invoice, it is really hard to search receivable payment based on the information I need (PFA).
A xero support specialist explained that because there is no reference on the payment, I can only search by Contact name or invoice number. But, when we do reconciliations to match the bank received with the invoice, there is nowhere to add an…

  13. In the Bank Statement report it would be extremely helpful to have an additional column/option to view the Customer or Suppliers contact name that the transaction has been reconciled to.

We have a lot of invoices for the same amount and depending on who is reconciling, they can be matched to the incorrect customer.
A report showing the contact would help pick up anomalies, rather then after sending statements wait for a disgruntled customer to notify us that a payment has been made when we have reconciled it to another customer.

Perhaps the Account Transactions report would be of help to you here, Tracy? You can adjust the report to add related account and Contact columns so you could see which account a payment came from as well as the contact it was assigned too.

Thanks for raising this as an idea on the site, Rhyse. We don't currently have plans for extending auto sales tax to other regions atm but we're keen to stay close to the interest of this here. I'll let you know if there's anything changes for this, here.

  15. Most companies have different treatment of accounting depreciation and tax allowances on the same assets. Having these setup and maintained in Xero would be a game changer.

Also: make FAR export dates sync up with regional settings - it's enormously frustrating having a FAR download in MM/DD/YYYY when one works in example DD/MM/YYYY

  16. When you have grouped various account codes together in the layout there should be an option to expand or collapse the report when it is being prepared without needing to go back into the report layout to open/close each group.

I can't imagine it would be too difficult for the development team to bring the functionality from the layout stage to the report stage.

  17. Head ledgers with correct names for UK market. We use Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger not receivables and payables, also we call it nominal ledger or sometimes general ledger. Why can't you allow us to change the headings or at least set up Xero like Sage does so you can have a more accountancy based set up for advanced users and not the layman even though the content would be the same for both to see

  18. It would be great if the Activity Statement Transaction reports included the Sales Invoice number in addition to the Reference field. The old full BAS report used to show the Sales Invoice number as the Reference field on the report.

We use simPRO for Invoicing and when the data is imported the Job No/Order Number is imported into the Reference field in Xero but we sometimes issue multiple invoices per job so the Invoice number is much more relevant as a reference.

  19. Batch change exchange rate
Currently, once a receipt has been entered the only way to change the exchange rate is to go into each individual transaction and edit transaction->change the exchange rate. I have a situation where i have hundreds of transactions that have been allocated the XE.com rate, but i would like those transaction to have the user defined rate. Also in receipts entered using the iOS app will use the XE.com rate even if there is a user defined rate set in settings.
I would like a feature like "find and recode" so i can filter for all…

  20. Add the option to change invoices with stripe card payments linked up so that the prompt to pay by card does not pop up when they open the invoice, but the link on the invoice stay available in the terms & payment advice section.

My reasoning behind this is that I would rather recieve payment by bank transfer to avoid processing fees, but still want to offer the option for someone to pay by card.
