  1. Petition for Xero Executives Regarding Alleged "Improvements"

    https://central.xero.com/s/question/0D53m00009n36b9CAA/petition-for-xero-executives-regarding-alleged-improvements

I encourage Xero Subscribers and other customers to start commenting and upvoting so we can show the Executives that these "improvements" are NOT improvements!

So, if you have had problems with any of the alleged improvements, some I have listed below, they include any sub issues associated with the changes.

Please add only "I agree" in comments. This will help our overall numbers into a louder and bigger voice.

We’ll send you updates on this idea

Hi community, I’d like to share the new Xero Central page for new invoicing that we noted was coming.

Along with updates to individual ideas on the site here, this page will become the one source for key feature rollouts including:

    • what’s available in new invoicing right now,
    • timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
    • a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.

We'll be updating this page regularly.

Remember, you can keep switching between the two products between now and September. Thanks

  2. The New GST layout needs to keep the "Late Claims" separate on the transaction details report. Lumping them all together with income or expense and then the totals don't tie into the numbers on the face of the GST return is frustrating. I can see you can filter by "late claims" but we don't want to have to export and manipulate the data when sending the documents to clients.

It doesn't make sense that the detailed transaction report doesn't match the face of the GST return without manipulating

Thank you for your feedback on the changes for NZ GST returns here, everyone. Late Claims display in the body of the return, to review them. If you click on this the Transaction tab will open and to toggle Late claims on and off, select the 'More' option.

Late claims have been separated into their own section in the Transactions tab, and if needed you can also use the Filter to choose to only view Late Claims. We'll soon be updating the export to PDF to allow late claims to be excluded.

We want to be open that we don't have plans for separating these back into their own tab and will close this idea. We still very much appreciate your feedback and will continue to iterate on this overtime to make filling and filing GST for an organisation simpler and more efficient.

  3. New GST return layout and a few thoughts around it :-
    1) when you export the PDF, the file name only shows as eg, GST return 01022024 for a GST return for period ending 31 March 2024. Why can't it show the client's company name, GST return followed by Period end date?
    2) when you try to export the PDF with accounting firm logo - it doesn't seem to work and who has "minutes" to wait for it to download?
3? The body of the report is now in landscape which if the client were to print would…

Hi everyone, we appreciate all your feedback on the new GST return and while I've made sure your feedback has been shared with product, we're going to close this idea being too broad to focus in on a particular change.

We've created individual ideas for the following points raised as it'd be good to track the interest in each separately. Please do add your vote to each that you'd like to see.

I'd also encourage raising a case with our specialists at Xero Support if you're having any issues with performance or usability as it'd be good to get more detail and our team can investigate.

  4. I would like to protest the removal of the ASB direct bank link for paying invoices.

The attraction of Xero is that it makes it faster and easier to run a business. The direct payment link was one of the features I appreciated most as it removed the friction from the process of monthly bill payments.

Connecting and interacting with your bank electronically is one of the key deliverables of Xero webware and it seems daft to remove it.

Can Xero review this decision please?

Hi all, appreciate the interest and rationale in wanting to be able to keep the direct payment link feature. Unfortunately, due to low usage levels, we did make the difficult decision to retire this functionality to focus on other products and features that are more heavily used by our customers. We’re sorry this is disappointing.

  5. When reviewing the GST Audit Report we are able to sort by account number, but when printing in PDF it reverts back to date sort order. Can we have an option to print to PDF in account code order.

Hi everyone, as you may have seen in recent communications - We've rolled out a new and improved New Zealand GST experience.

While we've made many changes, we want to be open that transactions will only print in date order. This isn't something we have plans for changing in the near future and we'll move the idea to not planned. If our position of this changes at any point we'll be sure to update you of this here.

  6. I have been a customer for over 10 years.

☹️ You have taken away above feature in the Xero App which I rely on very heavily. I am bitterly disappointed about this. I need this back. Can you please reinstate it?

Hi community, while we appreciate you raising this with us here I want to confirm that there are no plans to bring back the 'I want to be repaid' option in the Xero Accounting app. This option was connected to classic expenses which has been replaced by Xero Expenses where we have a separate app where employees can submit these expense claim type receipts through. If you're not familiar with Xero Expenses just yet, you can find more on this and how to get set up through Xero Central.

  7. Reinstate access to NZ Annual Report template for non-partner small business users. The NZ Annual Report template has been available to non-partner users for at least the last six years but has now been removed from the reporting templates available to non-partner users. For small businesses that prepare their own accounts the Annual Report template was very useful and time saving. Making it unavailable only has the effect of making us spend a heap of time re-building it outside of Xero or forcing us to waste money paying an accountant to do something Xero has previously enabled us to easily…

Appreciate the use you found in the older Annual report pack, Antony. We want to be upfront that we don't have any plans in the near term for developing this same pack in the newer reports. However, right now you'll find you can use the Management report pack, where you'll be able to add reports as you need into this, alternatively you could create your own report pack from scratch(this is available from the Search in the reports centre).

Understand not everyone feels the need to have an advisor but for others coming across that would like a bit more help with this sort of reports preparation you can find an advisor through the Xero advisor directory.

  8. Please add the ability to be able to add a page break from the 'insert content' drop down in draft reports, rather than having to go into 'edit layout to do this.

Currently the only option on this 'insert content' drop down is to 'add text block'

Appreciate you raising this with us, Natascha. Being completely open, having checked in with our product team while it might be something we revisit further down the track, we don't have any plans for enabling adding of page breaks from the Insert Content drop down in the near term. We'll shift the status to Not planned so others seeing can also understand.

  9. Invoices have a Date field with the temporal resolution of YYYY-MM-DD (despite there being numeric values to support time as well).
This field shows the date that the invoice is created. It would be wonderful if the invoices had a time field, with the timestamp that the invoice was created.
Fundamentally, this is extremely similar to UpdatedDateUTC.

  10. Have two codes - one for rental income & one for rental expenses.
When reconciling bank transactions to these codes, have the ability to allocate them to a property.
Have a feature where you can view the outstanding transactions for each property and select the transactions to go on the statement to the client for that month.
Auto generate the management fee for the month based on pre-selected criteria for that property - either % or fixed amount.
Auto generate a bill from this statement for the money that needs to be paid to the landlord.

Thanks for sharing and your interest in the idea here. Being open this isn't a feature we have any plans of implementing in the near term.

However, some of what's been described here can be achieved using Tracking. For example, you could create accounts in your Chart of Accounts for Rental Income and Rental Expenses. You'd then use a Tracking category for your Properties, listing each property as a separate option within that category.

Alternatively, if you're after more specific tools for managing properties we'd recommend looking into apps that can integrate with Xero and offer more services that could suit your business.

  11. I recently commented about the new invoicing not showing credit notes available, what I didn't realise that this was only for Repeating Invoices, not standard generated invoices which do infact show the credit available.

Some of our regular clients like to prepay so there are often credits to use. Upon approving a repeating invoice, the classic used to say there was a credit available on that contact, click here to use it. There is no such feature on the new repeating invoicing to indicate there is a credit available you have to go and manually check. As well as not…

Hi Claire, I've tried replicating your scenario here using both a newly created and an existing repeating template.

In both cases when I open an invoice that has been generated from the template and credit is available I can see an option on the invoice to Apply credit (as shown in my image)

Could you please raise a case on this with our Xero support team on Xero Central. They have tools to be able to look into this deeper and confirm what's going on and why credit is not appearing for application in your invoices.

  12. Some bank feeds have transaction details where the bank uses a debit card reference or DF reference in the PAYEE, the reference will contain the actual PAYEE name, for example the PAYEE field will have 1234-XXXX-XXXX-1234 or 123456789DF and the reference will show the actual PAYEE. Can Xero replace the PAYEE name with the actual PAYEE if it sees the above numbers. Too many clients are not replacing the numbered PAYEE and trying to recognise the PAYEE is proving time consuming as clients are not recording the PAYEE with the correct details

Hi Bip, mapping of details from your bank statement to fields in Xero are dependent on your bank institution and feed. A change in this regard is a change for all users with that same type of bank account feed and I want to be open that this isn't something that can be changed on an individual basis.

  13. There are so many disadvantages to the new invoicing. All my points have been covered in previous ideas so have voted for them. This note is to add my frustrations to everyone else's on this supposed "faster" way to invoice.

I have even had a customer say the GST was wrong and had to revert to the classic invoicing to fix then return to the new version.

This whole new version is not my favourite and I will be recommended to my clients to consider other software if these Xero "improvements" continue to disappoint. There are other improvements that disappoint…

We will move the thread here itself to not planned, however we will continue to iterate new invoicing to keep improving the experience for all our customers.

  14. New invoicing has to go, it is aboslute rubbish and does not work, The new reporting si so bad and hard to work along with the latest change I will likely leave. And no one at xero wants to talk to you, and one reply i saw was basically gaslighting every one into a tough ti..ies it is changing. keep old invoices, and work on weaknesses like inventory for small businesses.

Sorry to hear you're not liking some of our changes in Xero, Fiona. I've made sure to share your feedback here with the team but want to be honest that we will be retiring classic invoicing in September and we will move the idea here to not planned. However, that said we are committed to continuing to build on new invoicing.

I understand you've seen some of our responses elsewhere and as you may have seen some of the ideas on the site that relate to changes that you'd like to see I encourage you add your vote and join these for any updates. If there's not an existing idea for a particular change you'd like to see please do add it, our product team are taking on board all feedback we're receiving on this.

  15. It seems to calculate values (unrealised gains) for international transactions we need exchange rates.

However after retrieving the rates from XE.com, as well as another provider, we are unable to pull the exact FX values used by Xero, which means we cannot recreate the value from Xero reports. This interferes with our ability to automatically reconcile and may cause confusion for accountants if they cross check.

Xero support advised us that they pull live FX rates at 11pm of the timezone of the organisation, however in general it is not possible to pull these live rates historically from XE.com.

Hi Brendan, appreciate the detail provided along with your idea here. We have a separate community forum where you can log ideas related to improvements for Xero's API. While they have a few ideas around exchange rates what you've raised doesn't appear to have been requested yet.

We'll close the idea in this forum but you're welcome to copy and paste your detail from this to create a new idea in the forum there where others interested can join and we have experts that can keep you updated of any changes surrounding this. Thanks

Hi Emma, we have a developer community that's best to share requests for integrations through. Being open, we don't generally build integrations ourselves however Xero has an open API that enables interested parties to build an integration with us if they choose. I'd recommend approaching aglow to see if this is something they interested in, and you can share our Developer Centre with them that has more information on this process.

  17. We have a lot of clients that make payments on account that don't match invoices.

For example they may have a food supplier who they pay £500 a week but this doesn't match any invoices.

It would be beneficial if we could set up a Bank Rule so that these payments are automatically treated as overpayments to the designated supplier ledger.

Currently we have to go "add details", select "overpayment", put in supplier name, then "save transaction" for every single one. A Bank Rule would do them all in the press of a button and save a lot of time.

Hi all, while it's really great to see how many of our users are making use of automating reconciliation by setting up Bank Rules, priorities lye in other areas of Bank Reconciliation for the team at present.

We know where our customers would like to see our attention when we have resource to broaden horizons in the space of Bank Rules and Overpayments will be high on this list when the time comes.

To confirm there is no work planned atm, but we'll share if and when this changes.

Hi everyone, we appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared here.

We can see how reporting names would be confusing to clients, so I’m pleased to let you know that our product team have recently made a change that means they are not visible for non-adviser reports 😁 This means the reporting name is only visible on templates within the Xero Business Edition and non-adviser users will always see the Chart of Account name when running their reports.

Reading through the comments here and via our support team, the main need is for clients to understand their reports, which means viewing them by COA. To be open and upfront we don't have direct plans to work on a toggle in the foreseeable future so we're moving this idea to 'not planned'.

  19. I would like to suggest the option to defer a vat liability to the next period.
In many cases, customers raise invoices, but then their customer does not pay for a time.
The customer in the meantime is forced to pay the vat putting him at a disadvantage.
I propose the option to defer a vat line item to the following period - in other words, remove it from the present tax return and allow it to reflect on the following tax return.
This is a great benefit to the customer from a cashflow viewpoint - especially the smaller businesses.

Hi Ingrihid, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared via our Product Ideas page.

I can see that you are based in South Africa and that your idea likely relates to the VAT 201 report. Our VAT 201 return has been developed to comply with SARS guidelines and the option to defer individual VAT line items would go against this. For more information on VAT compliance we would recommend reaching out to SARS directly.

You will see the VAT 201 return can only be run on an Accrual basis. Accrual basis includes all transactions by the transaction date, whereas payments basis includes all transactions by payment date.

It doesn't look like the option to create the VAT 201 on a payments basis has been raised. If this is something you would like to suggest, please feel free to raise this idea…
