  1. it is very difficult to manually add a " pay template " every time when a new employee is added, so is there any shortcut for that? because when we have more joining every day then it is very difficult to manually add every time ordinary rate and overtime rate and other things again and again in a pay template. please update XERo as soon as possible.

  3. With ever changing minimum wage requirements (UK only) which are based on an employees age it would be useful to be able to have a 'one pager' report that lists the employee name and the current age. Their age is data which is already in Xero as part of the employee profile. A report would be useful to help payroll staff check who needs to move onto new wages / salaries based on age groups.

  4. Leavers can only access payslips 14 days after leave date. 14 days is not enough time as the final pay ay not have been processed at this time. So final payslips then becomes a manual process. If P45's could also be accessed that would be great.

  5. A company we work with here in UK was recently a victim of an elaborate but simple fraud, resulting in the loss of around £5,000 from the payroll.

    The scam went like this:-

    1. Scammer fakes an email to HR from an employee requesting the bank details for their salary be changed.
    2. HR fails to spot the "EXTERNAL EMAIL WARNING!" and forwards this email to the person who updates the payroll. They also didn't spot the fake email address, or double-check with the employee.
    3. Bank details for the employee are updated in the payroll and bank payments.

    Thanks for your idea here, Rob. I've made sure to share this back with our Payroll product team. We appreciate your desire to prevent fraud, however there are also employee laws that implicate this process. It's something we're keen to track demand in here, but want to be upfront that there are no immediate plans for developing this.

  7. I look after a business that has been advised by the ATO that their PAYG has cycle has changed & they must remit the PAYG tax to ATO within 7 days of each payrun. This means we currently have to make a manual payment for PAYG to the ATO each week, more if there there happens to be an extra pay run for some reason. Payroll software we use for other clients in the same sitiatuon has the functionality to include the PAYG payment with the ABA file for the payrun, which means everyting is automated.   8. Many of my clients prefer a 37.5 hour work week (7.5 hours a day) to a 38 hour work week (7.6 hours a day).
    I am able to set the leave accruals to a 7.5 hour day but the standard work week in "'Assign default leave types" is always 38 hpw and I have to manually change it to 37.5 to match the leave accrual.

  9. Xero and NEST do not always link.

    For example a client of mine has a pay date 15th September (pay period 15/08/23-14/08/23). This gets sent to NEST from Xero using a pay reference period 15/09/23-14/10/23. This results in the submission showing in the period following the current period on NEST.

    I have spoken to NEST and they advised that Xero is incorrect and need to change the pay reference period to match the pay period so the file is submitted to the correct period within NEST.

    Please can this issue be rectified to avoid manual submissions having to be made.

  13. It would be very helpful if there were the ability to set up Reminders in Xero Payroll for certain dates such as birthdays and apprenticeship anniversaries so that you would know to change the employee's Pay Rate accordingly.

  14. When I review payroll I want to know if the employee is casual, part-time, full time or contractor.

    I want to know the typical hours worked in the payslip cycle so as to determin whether overtime entitlements apply.

  17. Xero have added an automatic journal which credits salaries with the amount recovered from the government. This is great except we use tracking categories for all transactions in the P&L and the automatic journal leaves it blank. We have to post a manual journal to correct the posting. It would be useful for the automatic journal to include tracking.

  18. A number of my client are service businesses and as such all of the payroll costs should be posted either to a Cost of Sale account for Operational staff or Overhead for support staff. I can achieve this for all costs except for Employer NIC cost, which has to be manually moved. It would be beneficial if the NIC could go to an NIC GL dependent upon the type of basic pay chosen.

  19. I think it would be really helpful to put a search bar for employees in a pay run. It's really time consuming to scroll down list of employees especially if you have lots of them. It's under employee dropdown. Thanks!

  20. When an employee is off sick you should be able to open and input the start date and then save, to input the end date when the employee returns to work.
