UK Payroll - Ability to process prior year employment allowance claims through Xero payroll
At the moment this isn't an available feature, and HMRCs basic PAYE tools need to be used. It would be good to see this as an option in Xero.

It would save the user to download third party software to do so.

This would mean that customers using your service would have a much more simple procedure for claiming this past benefit and would be a lot more likely to do so. Therefore, making this possible on your software would be saving your customers money which is important!

often we find new clients did not claim this allowance so it would be a great way to promote the wonders of Xero and add value to their business at the outset.
currently we have to do it using the very cumbersome HMRC PAYE Tools method - it takes ages!
So please add this feature to make our lives and our clients lives better.

This would be really useful together with the ability to correct when clients have incorrectly claimed the allowance in prior years!
It seems so strange the Xero is so advanced but we are still relying on Basic Tools for corrections.

This is something basic that even HMRC say my payroll package should handle easily. It's really frustrating that I have to use the HMRC basic tools and probably end up with records in Xero that are out of sync with reality.

Ridiculous that such a simple solution that is available on majority of other softwares isn't available through Xero. Very long winded time consuming process to fix something that should be simple.

Hi Emily, Not exactly- Xero assist logged into my account and found they could tick the button, but then when I logged in, I found it was un-ticked. When I realised Xero assist were using Macs (I'm on Windows 11), my son suggested using a different browser instead of Chrome. I tried Edge and then the box stayed ticked and all was well. All I know is that it is a chrome compatibility issue. I'm still waiting for HMRC to update my Employment Allowance though for 23/24- it still says I'm not claiming it! Hopefully when the EPS is sent it will register.

This feature would be extremely helpful, I am also experiencing a problem where the box won't tick on the Chrome browser, but it does work on other ones.

This is a common problem, and is easily fixed in other software providers.

Since Xero unset the allowance setting itself without it being noticed, it should provide a means of claiming for a prior year.
