  1. Our client wants to export out of his customised software into xero. The developers have changed the software to fit the xero template but the tracking categories are not importing. I have spoken to a xero specialist and they believe it is not possible to have the tracking category automatically import. This would be a very useful feature for our client.

Sorry it seems there may be some misunderstanding there. It is possible to import a manual journal with Tracking applied.

You'll need to make sure the Tracking Category and Options are spelt exactly as they are in the organisation into the CSV file in the appropriate column.

I've provided an example on this discussion for a customer that was importing invoices, and may help you with this.

  2. Not all businesses want to set up credit card payments. We actually use another system to generate our invoices as they are complex. I have been repeatedly asked to set up stripe and an authenticator with every step when keying in new invoices - I do not want to do this. I started to investigate and have now been charged $59.99 for an authenticator I do not need. I am incredibly frustrated and want my money back. I have contact the app company however it was xero's repeated badgering that caused the error. please remove the call to action

Thanks for the screenshot, Nicole. Appreciate if you're not intending to set up credit card payments that this continuous pop up would be frustrating. This indicates that the Stripe payment service setup was entered into at some point but hasn't been completed. You should be able to stop this from appearing by removing Stripe as a payment service from your organisation. We have some help on doing this, here.

  3. When sending an invoice to a new customer using the new invoicing you can only add one address line before the Town/City field. With the old invoicing you could add multiple address lines before the Town/City field (as you can also do with their Contact page and clicking edit).
With new invoicing this is difficult. Every time you need to add an address to a new invoice going to a new contact within the invoice screen then you only have one address line above the town/city field.
To add more address lines above the town/city field you need to amend…

Hi team, we’ve made and released some recent enhancements to the ‘Contact’ field and contact card within new invoicing.

Hearing your feedback here, we added more address lines to the contact card within new invoicing so you can add your full customer’s delivery or billing address on the fly. You’ll also see you can quickly look up and select addresses for your contact, as well as edit or add the Attention to without needing to go to the contact record. Thanks for your interest with us here.

  4. We have deposit and cash accounts with no bank feed, I would like to be able to reconcile a whole month's transactions in one go rather than each individual line (mark as reconciled).
I know the balance at the end of the month is correct so I would like to be able to tick all transactions and 'mark as reconciled' in one hit.

Hi team, this is already possible. However in order to bulk mark as reconciled you'll need to enable this option.

When in a bank account in Xero, click the '?' icon at the top of the screen where you should see the option to turn on 'Enable Mark as Reconciled'. Its based on your user login so while this will turn it on for yourself, another user in the organisation will need to follow these actions to for themself.

  5. New Invoicing - Add last items

The new invoicing interface currently being rolled out does not include this feature. This feature is fundamental to my use of Xero for invoicing.

Hi team, just returning to this idea, I've slightly amended the title and we'll move across to delivered.

As mentioned in my last update, you can use the Leave requests report which will show the start and end dates, as well as units and dollar amount. It's also possible to run the report for all, or just specific employees for the period. 🙂

  7. Previously when making a payment once you added the payment it took you back to the awaiting payment screen (where it showed the name just paid and give you the option to send a receipt) now it takes you to the paid screen. This is a real pain when you are doing eft receipts for multiple clients.

Hi everyone, completely understand the logic and why you'd want to be returned to this screen once applying a payment. Our team have released an update so you'll now find you're taken to the Awaiting Payments list once a payment is applied to an invoice in new invoicing. Thanks for all sharing with us, here.

  8. I want to hide the VAT line from below the subtotal on the 'Invoice email' template. I can hide it on the 'Invoice PDF' but not on the 'Invoice Email'. I'm not VAT registered so it currently says VAT 0%. But thus may look confusing to my customers. I would rather it was either hidden or removed.

Hi Sam, sorry we've not updated you here sooner. This is possible through your email settings. If you open the Email template that you apply to invoices you'll find a check box for 'Include action to online invoice and detail summary'. You'll want to deselect this option to remove that detail from showing in your invoice emails. Just a note it does strip back a bit of the formatting of the email but will help you achieve what you're after here.

  9. If I want to see all invoices for a customer, I have to go to invoices and filter in various ways to get the results I want. This seems counterintuitive. I would expect to go to the customer under contacts and be able to see all information relevant to that customer including invoices.

Hi Nicola, you can see all invoices for a customer from the Activity tab of their Contact record. There are options to either view all, or just Invoices or Bills. From the tab it's also possible to filter the invoices by Status or other options.

  10. Description:
I would like to suggest the incorporation of a new functionality in Xero that allows users to save supplier statements within the system. This feature should not post any transactions to the chart of accounts but instead, save the supplier's name, balance, and date as a memo associated with the statement. This information should be viewable within the supplier's profile.

    Implementation:
The saved statement details should be accessible in a dedicated section of the supplier's profile, providing a historical record of statement balances on specific dates. Furthermore, these statement details could be utilized in the Aged Payables report, either…

  14. It would be fantastic to have the ability to add a web link or QR code to a Googe review page or other external link (website, facebook etc).
When an invoice or receipt of payment is sent it would be great to follow this up asking for client to give feedback on service provided or to have them follow along on social media etc.

  15. When filling the GST to ATO through Xero and selecting to Lodge and save bill as draft, I can't find any billing information in the draft bill (nor approved bill) .I don't know where to pay this bill, I need the billing details which have not transferred with the bill.
I have to do this manually, save the pdf to desktop then attach to draft bill (do it the old way like 20 years ago)???
This should not be a new idea. It should be a minimum to have a draft bill with the related bill attachment.
    Can you do…

Hi there, when lodging directly through Xero, payment details are displayed at the top of the statement page once it's been lodged, including various payment options such as Bpay, credit card, and others.

Please note that these payment details are only available when you are connected to the ATO in Xero and lodging directly through the platform. This is because the payment details are provided directly by the ATO and are specific to your entity.

  17. Accountants need to to be able to amend the account to which an invoice or one of the lines on it is allocated, as we can with the edit function in Classic Invoicing. We also need to be able to edit the Tracking Category of an invoice or line on the invoice. This is vital for our organisation and likely to be so for others businesses where invoices and bills are booked by financial staff and checked by Accountants. The ability to copy a previous invoice is also used all the time and saves a huge amount of time. Also…

Appreciate your idea here, Michael. While it won't be possible to retain Classic invoicing, it is possible to Edit, Copy and Void in New Invoicing.

That said, a couple of the Copy to options (to a purchase order or bill) are planned for new invoicing but aren't there quite yet. You can stay updated on these through the ideas I've linked.

Hi Nicholas, it doesn't look like you've been in touch with our specialists at Xero Support before?

While you'll need to raise a case through Xero Central, if you feel a call would best help to resolve your question let the team know and they are usually happy to arrange this at a time that suits you.

Having your support interactions recorded through your My Cases on Xero Central means you can always look back at your correspondence with the team at a later date, which can be quite handy if you ever run into the same scenario again. It also allows you to share or set up screen meets with the team to get better detail of any issues, and the team can share links to resources that you can access anytime.

  19. It would be beneficial to be able to edit transactions via Xero Expenses.

I find if a client has approved something to the wrong code you have to remove the whole transaction and redo it. In Xero normally you can Edit a transaction.
I have checked with Xero and that is the only current resolution.

Xero is usually so user friendly but this way is time consuming and slow. Thanks

Hi Antony, when processing expenses on the Xero Me app there is the option to edit an expense that has been submitted on both iOS and Android.

On iOS this is available from the Options menu, and on Android you'll want to tap the 3 dots in the top right of the claim. 😊

  20. Payroll>Employees>Leave currently has leave balances in days and dollar values, this makes it difficult to determine what the amount should be either way.
As the dollar amount may change due to pay rises or an average applied as per statutory legislation, it would be better if all fields were hours based values. This would make it consistent and easier as a consumer to use.
As a user, I should not have to be trying to calculate what the values should be and if something doesn't appear to be right, I should not need to contact Xero to find out how…

Hi team, we've recently released changes in Xero Payroll. As you may have seen you can now set up working patterns for employees to more accurately calculate employees wages and leave. While Holiday pay remains in dollars, Annual Leave will show in weeks and FBAPS Leave will now be shown in days.

Just to note, Holiday Pay is not a one to one correlation to Annual Leave, however if you prefer to have leave in hours you could consider enabling leave in advance. You can see our article here for more information on managing employees leave.

We appreciate your interest and sharing with us through Xero Product Ideas.
