  1. Contacts due dates to be set as a standard company wide setting unless changed within the individual contact.

    For example as a company we work on the basis that all payments and receipts are due 30 days from invoice, this should be able to be entered within the company settings and should already be filled in when creating a new contact.

  2. It would be great to use email address as address in an invoice as often clients only provide an email as contact.
    i.e no delivery address.

    Hi Marcel, with the standard invoice template this will show the billing address on the PDF of the invoice. If you don't have a physical address for the contact and want to include the email address, enter and save this in the billing address details on the contact. You can either do this from their contact record or on the fly when creating the invoice. here's an example I created of how this will appear.

  3. Discovered an error. In the customer settings, when placing 0 in the field for “Days invoice when due” shows an error, despite Xero using 0 when calculating when an invoice is due.

  4. I would like to request the return of the nice simple professional looking GST Returns and Printouts as the new layout is unsuitable to be sent to Clients and printing out the GST Returns and details now appears spread over more pages.

    Thanks for your feedback here, everyone. We appreciate hearing what our customers need, and listening to feedback our team have made a change to the layout of the GST Transactions by tax rate view, so this is now similar to the previous report in a portrait layout 😊

  5. At the moment Xero doesn't seem to have a provision wherein only active items can be downloaded from the Inventory List. I think this is an important and effective feature that needs to be implemented.

    Hi everyone, we've now introduced the ability to export your items list from the Products & Services page based on the filter you've applied. You can now export only your active items, or all items, making it easier to manage your inventory. 

    We're also working on adding an extra column for 'Status' in the CSV export along with 'Inventory type'. This will be coming in as a later release. We'll post an update in this thread when that's out as well  🙂

  6. Hi, there is a critical bug while doing reconciliation that make the app unusable. When trying to link a transfer made in a currency with an invoice made in another currency. The reconciliation doesn't show an error even though the recieved money is incorrect and doesn't match the invoice amount.

    Hi Aym, I understand you've also recently connected with our specialists at Xero Support on this.

    To share for others on the idea here, in this scenario if the statement line is a partial payment you can use the 'Split' option in bank reconciliation to enter the currency value the amount equates to.

    At the bottom of the page you'll see a message highlighting where the calculated exchange rate is significantly different to the defined currency rate for the day.

    Thanks for your confirmation, Margaret. I've slightly updated the title of our idea here, and want to confirm how this works.

    If you've connected Hubdoc with your Xero organisation, once you've published an invoice to Xero from Hubdoc, and you're in a region that Xero supports eInvoicing you'll be able to send eInvoice to customers that have registered to receive eInvoices.

    We have more detail on how eInvoicing with Xero works and the regions we currently support on our website.

  8. We use a a CRM system to create our invoice which is then linked to XERO. On our CRM system it itemised the components of the invoice this is also transferred. Is there a way on the xero invoice that this feature is not transferred so that the invoice only shows description and the total value of the job, ie NET, VAT GROSS.
    We do not want the client to see the full breakdown.

    We send statements to our clients which has a link to the invoice due to the issues of the itemised invoice our clients can see this…

    Hi Dawn, this is possible with the use of an advanced branding theme. Using the DocX template you can customise the template to remove merge fields that you don't want to be shown to your customer.

    Once set up as you like you'll want to upload the template to your branding theme in Xero, and then apply to contacts or to any individual invoices you'd like this template used.

  9. With the new basis period changes coming into effect, some clients may want to change their year-end from 30.09 to 31.03. Currently changing the year-end in Xero will cause previous opening balances to change and most likely mean any working papers produced in Xero will no longer match the accounts.

    It would be a useful tool to have something whereby a previous accounting period end could be locked so a new year-end could be chosen without messing up the old year-end balances.

    Hi team, I can now confirm we've now added the ability for you to create a short transition period (between 1 month and 12 months long) when changing the Financial Year End date within your organisations Financial Settings. 

    Just to recap for anyone new coming across the idea here - Aligning with the UK basis period reforms we've made a change to Financial settings so you can add start and end dates to different periods. This change impacts multiple areas of Xero. 

    • Fixed assets will draw on this information, to prevent any loss of historic information when your year end changes. Everything will automatically be calculated for you based on the period start and end dates you set in Financial Settings. 
    • The same story will apply in Reporting. All historic reports will be protected. And you’ll have accurate comparison periods even across varied financial years.

  10. Go back to sending the monthly invoice with the notification. When you changed this so we had to log on and download the invoice it makes more work takes more time and we are less efficient. I had already emailed you about this but received no reply. Regards Arthur

  11. W9 link for contractors to enter information needs to be extended beyond 7 days. In addition it should be a generic link that can be sent to multiple people.

  12. It would be useful to be able to pay invoices in bulk through a designated accounts (which is not a bank account) in the event for example of invoice financing.

    Currently we need to go in each invoice and enter the payment details if this is not going through the bank account.

    The approach could be similar to the batch payment on the "Bills to pay" side.

  13. Unless I'm missing something, I can't seem to see the Item Code or Tracking Code fields on a saved invoice? They are there in Edit mode, but not when viewing a saved invoice? We don't need to include these columns on the invoice sent to clients, but do need to be able to see them for internal use without having to go into edit mode. Until we can do this, we won't be able to switch to the new invoicing.

    Hi team, apologies we haven't updated this idea sooner. Our product team made a change to the approved grid view a fem months ago, where now you'll see Item code and Tracking as separate columns once the invoice is approved to make it easier to review your information. We appreciate your feedback here and sharing through product ideas.

  14. It would be nice if the tax rates show separate on the bills when entering them to know it is calculating properly. I understand we can see the tax broken out after we click approve, but it would be handy to see it before. It would also be nice if we could manually adjust the tax amounts.

    Hi Bailey, currently when you enter a bill, if there's more than one tax rate, a different tax total is shown for each tax rate underneath the Subtotal.

    These totals are automatically updated live as you enter more lines on the bill - there's no need to save or approve the bill to see it.

    If you're experiencing different behavior I'd recommend raising this with our specialists at Xero Support who can get a closer look in to see what's going on.

  15. After uploading a file, one must select account and what it is (bill, invoice, expense, spend money)etc, before you see what it is. I should be able to open file, add all the details, while viewing the image/document

  17. The TB in Xero does not show lines that have a nil balance, however, you may need to drill down on a line that has a nil balance but may have have transactions (such as a control account). Could an option be added to the trial balance that would allow it to be displayed either with or without the nil balances?

    Hi community, we've just released the ability to show nil(zero) balance accounts in reports.

    Along with the Trial Balance report, this selection is also available for the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss (Income Statement), Statement of Cash Flows - Direct Method, Cash Summary, Movements in Equity, Blank report, and Report templates

    You'll find you can turn this on as a toggle option from the More menu of the report itself, or there is a selection in Report preferences.

  18. Very recent change to the Payroll Activity Details report, now Units capped at two decimal places, changed within the last fortnight.
    This needs to revert to four decimal places, as that is what is allowed when entering your payroll. Why has this been changed as now, the Payroll Activity report is the only available report to use to check a payroll, is no longer of any use as it does not reflect the correct data entry.

    Hi everyone, we appreciate your feedback here. Apologies we haven't updated sooner, as I can confirm that we made a change in July to the Payroll Activity Details report so it will now show 4 decimal places.

  19. We have many suppliers that reject invoices if we send them direct from Xero. Hence we have to download a PDF copy and email it manually from our finance inbox. This process now takes 5 clicks as opposed to one click in classic invoicing. The new process is to click "Approve & Email", but then to exit this screen. Then move across the screen to the left top corner and check the box to mark it as "sent", then move all the way back to the right and click "Print PDF" and then wait for it to open in a…

    Hi community, today we released the ability to mark an invoice as sent when printing in new invoicing. Now, when you select to 'Print PDF' you'll receive a prompt to ask if you'd like to mark the invoice as sent - see in my image below. Thanks again for your engagement on this here 😊

    Hi Paul, if you're not using all your invoice reminders atm, you could set up a separate Invoice Reminder for Invoices overdue versus those due by - You can use up to 5 Invoice reminders.

    When you set up an invoice reminder you'll be able to set the email template that is used to send that reminder and it will only be used when that reminder is triggered.
