Xero Settings - Add built-in spell check
All of a sudden it seems that spell checker doesn't work when typing an invoice, not putting in a comma or full stop highlights but not mis-spelled words. Has something changed? Maybe it should be automatic?
3 votesHey Kelly, Xero doesn't include a dedicated spell check feature.
It sounds like you've been using the one built-in in to your internet browser.
In this case, I'd reach out directly to their support for troubleshooting the spell check 😊

mailchimp integration using contact name
Integrate the 'Contact Name' in Xero to Mailchimp.
1 voteHi Elizabeth, while we appreciate you engaging with the community through Product Ideas here. Ideas for changing or expensing on an integration with applications outside Xero are best raised with the connected applications support.
We'd recommend reaching out to MailChimp who designed and built their integration with Xero themselves to see if this is something they'd consider.

Zettle integration - post to different nominal by category
Our Xero is integrated with Zettle and the interface works fine.
However, it would be great if sales could be posted to Xero nominals by Zettle category.
Some of the items we "sell" are not actually sales and need to be posted to a balance sheet nominal. At present I'm having to manually adjust these.
Automation is the way to go.1 voteAppreciate you engaging community on the idea, Keith. Many integrations with Xero and built and developed by the applications themselves, and they would be best approached for any request to change or expand their integration.
I'd recommend raising this idea with Zettle, as it's not something we'd do from our end.

Account Transactions - Payments to Include Invoice Number
When running Payment Reports such as Bank Account Transactions or Accounts Receivable reports when you select the Column option of 'Invoice Number' the report includes Invoice Number in the report headings but does not actual provide the Invoice Number for each transaction. We would expect the reports to be able to show the Invoice Number field.
3 votesHi all, this depends on the type of transaction that you're viewing in the Account Transactions report.
Payment transactions don't have an 'Invoice Number' field in themselves, instead they are associated to an invoice. If you have not entered a separate reference the invoice number it's associated too will show in the Reference column of the report.

Improvement needed for Invoice
Improvement needed for Invoice, to enable the invoice word format, spacing and size to be changed & add extra location to upload barcode (other than upload logo, provide more place for us to upload JPG file), add more functions to standard invoice features as we are not IT related field it is hard for us to customised own invoices styling. If use customised invoices, it very hard for us to amend for example to included or excluded tax.
1 voteHi Catherine, few different asks wrapped into the one here. We ask that each thread contain one idea so it's clear the functionality that's being requested and to help share support back with our product teams.
From your detail it sounds like there are a few existing ideas that you could support here in the forums and welcome you to create one for each other idea you see helping to make doing business easier for you with Xero.
- Invoice Settings - Simpler customisation
- Inventory - Barcode scanning to adjust stocks - If you'd simply like to add the code that you reference for inventory this could be input in the current Item code field.
- Contact - Having custom fields on invoices and contact

Investec Feed - Change bank statement Date imported
Would love to be able to change the dates on bank statements that are brought in via Bank Feeds as the import from Investec uses the Transaction Date instead of Action Date, which messes with the Bank Reconciliation reports, as they don't match the bank statement opening and closing balances
2 votesChecking in with our Bank Feeds team on your idea, Margaret - we'd recommend raising a direct case with our support team so we can dig in a little more and confirm the mapping of the dates that you're referring too. You can touch base with them through Xero Central.
I'll close your idea here but do urge you to come into Support 🙂

Xero Tax(UK) - Ability to change default tax code
Ability to change tax code
Not everyone has the default tax code, an option to edit the tax code.
2 votesThanks for the added feedback, James - Connecting with our Xero tax UK team on this I want to be upfront that there's no plans to develop for your idea here.
To explain the rationale here - As you'll understand, tax codes are used with the aim that people pay the correct tax on their employment income and do not underpay or overpay, so that a tax return or repayment claim forms do not need to be completed.
Tax codes are only used against PAYE sources. The actual personal allowance is to be used in the self assessment calculations.
- Personal allowance is reduced in the calculation if someone earns above £100k or they transfer their marriage allowance.
- If a person receives the marriage allowance, then this is provided as a tax reducer at the bottom of the calculation as per legislation.
Allowing Personal Allowance to be set based on tax…

Pay with Wise - Ability to have multi-currencies payments
Integration with Wise bank making multi-currencies payments
Could you please add more currencies on the list for making payments from Xero to Wise? Now is available just GBP UK account. Can you add currencies - AUD, EUR, CZK, USD?
7 votesHi all, while we have removed the Pay with Wise feature follow on from our last update we wanted to confirm that we have released UK bill payments in Xero.
Customers in the UK can set up direct bank transfer as a payment method for GBP bills to quickly and securely pay bills. Funds are transferred from your bank account by Crezco using open banking. The availability of open banking in the UK has enabled us to offer this on-platform. 🙂- Read more on our Blog

Reporting - GST inclusive/exclusive
Would be really helpful if reports in Xero just stated whether the figures are GST-inclusive or exclusive.
For example, the dashboard includes the total of unpaid invoices (which are GST-inclusive), but the Profit & Loss by month figures are GST-exclusive. I take figures from Xero and use in spreadsheets and it would assist to be clear about the GST status of figure used.3 votesHi Tim, appreciate wanting more of an indication if a report is contains GST.
Although I've shared your feedback I want to be open that we don't have plans for direct change in the product, however I've also shared your feedback with our Content team to see if there are updates that could be made to our help articles on Xero Central to make this clearer.
Financial reports have a specific structure such as the Profit & Loss figures which doesn't show GST at all because it's not part of the business' revenue or expenses, it's something only shown in the Balance sheet as a balance in the GST account under liabilities.
For other reports in Xero like Payable and Receivables Invoice Summary and Detail reports we show (ex) and (inc) in the different columns, we also provide options to show Net, GST and Gross amounts separately, so it's a…

Quotes to have more lines
Quotes - Please give us drop down menu to add more than one line at a time. My Quotes are over several pages to a big customer. Adding one line at a time is not efficient.
Previously when an Item from the Products & Services is picked and when highlighted, and you push "Tab" it picks it and enters it. Now that function doesn't work instead, you have to click with the mouse. Not having shortcuts is time consuming. The previous way was better and more efficient.
2 votesHi Shirani and Tarryn, rounding back to the idea here we appreciate the earlier feedback on the change in navigation with tab and selection of items.
Based on some of the feedback we received from our customers we have restored the original behaviour so that when you can use the arrow keys within a cell to highlight the item and then Tab to auto select (rather than having to press Enter).
Also appreciate your thoughts on the ideal # of lines in a quote. However, monitoring usage of quotes we don't have plans for developing an option to add lots of lines at once.

Low balance alert on bank account
I'd like to know when a specific bank account balance gets below a certain amount, it would be great to set an alert or get a notification.
2 votesHi Nicola, appreciate the idea however do want to be open that we don't have plans for implementing this type of feature directly in Xero. Feed imports can differ from bank to bank so the timeliness of this information would be likely be little use to many businesses especially in the case of manual imports.
There are some banks that offer alert or notifications for what you're asking here, I'd recommend enquiring with your bank directly. Thanks

Integration with Causeway Tradex
We regularly have to upload our invoices into client finance systems, Tradex by Causeway being the most common. It would save a lot of double handing being able to post invoices directly into their systems. There us a UK standard format developed by BASDA that would seem flexible enough to allow wide use. https://www.causeway.com/products/tradex/connections
1 voteHey Phil, thanks for submitting your idea!
Xero has an openAPI, so anyone can develop an integration for it without contacting us, or providing documentation.
Because of this, we typically don't collect suggestions for third-party integrations here on Product Ideas. We'd recommend instead contacting them directly to discuss building the integration.
You can direct them to our Developer Centre to get started 😊

Bank feeds - request specified start date
Provide option to select a specific start date (within, say, the past 24 months) for bank feeds when submitting the online request through Xero. For example, from previous 1 April rather than from the next day after the bank has processed the request. This would relieve the need to request clients to provide a csv from their online banking for past transactions to complete the year’s records. Some clients are not computer confident for even this requirement when setting up their Xero account.
2 votesHi team, while we appreciate the idea here there is no plan to enable automatic import of bank statements when setting up direct bank feeds.
If you'd like to, import historical bank statements you can do this manually and we have detail on how to do this in on Xero Central.

AU Payroll: Bulk update all employees for STP2
Update details for STP2
I would like to be able to select all employees and update these details in bulk rather than having to do them individually which is time consuming especially when you have a large number of employees.4 votesHi community, we appreciate the original raising of this idea some time ago. To be open, with STP2 now released and majority of organisations having already updated their employees we want to be upfront we don't have plans for making this change.

Global Payroll: Dedicated Payroll product to replace Global Pay Run
I cannot be the only Global Platform user that has now been waiting for basic payroll feature improvements in the Global version for over 4 years now.
Critical features that are not available include:
- Ability to add logo and YTD balances on pay slips
- Template payroll emails when sending pay slips (have to type it every time now)
- Timesheet option that syncs / built into payroll. Or at minimum an import option.
- Holiday / sick pay / leave tracking
- Basic employee portal for them to view pay slips and leave balances, and basic core info…2 votesHi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding Global Pay Run.
To be open and upfront we don't have direct plans for making changes within the Pay Run feature in the foreseeable future.
You may like to look into connected apps for a payroll solution that could suit your business.
We'll be sure to let you know if there's any change around this.

Coupa Integration
Coupa integration would be great. I'm working with a company who is transitioning to Coupa where estimates, invoices, and payment notifications are handled through Coupa.
1 voteHey Jon, thanks for sharing your idea!
Xero has an open API, so anyone can develop apps or custom integrations for it.
With this one, we'd recommend reaching out directly to Coupa to talk about a
Xero integration. You can chat to them directly through their contact page.

Payroll: 'Save and close' option in draft pay runs
At the moment, inside an individual's payslip/pay run, the button options are 'save', 'save and next' and 'close'.
A button for 'save and close' would be ideal when only one or a few employees (not the whole batch) need to be manually viewed and edited. Instead, we need to click 'save', wait for the page to load again, scroll down and click 'close' to return to the pay run employee list.
3 votesThank you for your contribution and support on the idea. We understand that the ability to easily save and close in one click would benefit your workflows, however to be upfront we don't have direct plans for making this change within the payslip in the foreseeable future.
We appreciate this is not the news you’d hope to hear, but we'd like to be open and transparent with you on this, here.

Overpayments - Ability to set tax and account
When creating an overpayment during bank account reconciliation, the account and tax fields are locked and impossible to change. This is frustrating because based on our company accounting policy, we would like our overpayments coded to a specific account.
I would like to see this feature added in future updates.1 voteHi Yamen, overpayments are a type of credit transaction in Xero. An overpayment doesn't attract tax and is allocated to a specific contact which is why both these fields are locked.
Being open we don't have intentions of changing this behaviour - Perhaps a prepayment may better serve your needs here?
-
Reconciliation - Conclusive reconciliation
Xero should provide 'proper' bank/card reconciliation so as to be able to conclusively reconcile the xero record with the source bank account.
What xero calls reconciliation is merely 'matching' bank feed transactions to xero transactions. This is not really reconciliation to source account because the Bank feed is known to both miss lines of the statement and duplicate lines of the statement.
If the feed misses a transaction and it is not in xero either you would never know through the existing reconciliation (matching) process.
Similarly if the feed duplicates a line it may cause it to be created in…1 voteHi Andrew, appreciate you'd like ensure what's been imported from your bank to Xero. We will continue to develop the logic and learning behind matches and suggestions Xero provides overtime.
As you know Xero has direct connections with many banks and financial institutions to offer feeds and import statement lines from your bank. In many cases these can be auto matched through a bank account in your organisation.
Despite being thorough in many situations, as these are connections with parties external to Xero, there are cases like you've noted where statement lines can be missed or duplicated - Hopefully you don't find this occurring too often if you do I'd recommend connecting with our Xero Support team to see if there's any way to improve what's being imported.
Manual intervention and review of bank reconciliation is required to confirm what has been reconciled and imported to your bank to match…

Xero apps China
Please apply to have Xero apps to be accessable in China
1 voteHi Cain, we're aware that Xero has been blocked in certain areas of the world. These censorship instances are put in place by the local authorities and are out of our control.
We're not currently aware of any exceptions to this rule or any ways to work around these blocks.
