Customer Statements - Ageing (30, 60, 90days)
It would be great if we could add ageing on client/customer statements. (Current, 30, 60, 90 days) Many clients have requested that the ageing be displayed on their statements. Current, overdue and total isn't detailed enough..
375 votesHi everybody, coming across from the previous forums we know this idea has a lot of interest.
There is a way of using Xero's reports to accomplish what you're asking here and save the format so you can easily access and send this report to your customers outside of Xero.
Running the Aged Receivables detail report you can choose how many ageing periods you'd like to show and set the period to '30 days'. Simply Filter the report by Contact and Update to run.
- Once you've got it set up, save as Custom so you can easily access this format anytime
- If you deal with groups of contacts this also means you could Filter for multiple contacts to combine the view into one report rather than multiple customer statements 🙂
- Export the report to PDF, where you can send to customers from your email system outside of Xero
We appreciate…

Organisation settings - Dark mode
Ability to change darker backgrounds in Xero.
Purpose: White text against a Dark Background, is easier to see for the eyes.
355 votesHi all, appreciate the interest in this idea and its importance to help reduce eye strain and headaches for improved user comfort, especially during extended usage.
We understand that this has been a longstanding request, and we genuinely appreciate your patience and dedication to making Xero an even better platform for all.
While this may be a function we look to explore in the long-term, we want to be upfront that this is not something we'll be developing in the near term due to the complexities involved and the need to prioritise other impactful updates. We know that this may be disappointing but hope that this provides some clarity.
In the meantime, as some users have mentioned you may be able to use a third-party app like Google's High Contrast, which allows you to change the colour on your screen to make it easier to read.

New Invoicing - Keep Classic Invoicing
KEEP THE CLASSIC FORMAT FOR INVOICING
343 votesHi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

Reporting: Aged Reports - Run in different currency
Ability to run different currencies in Aged Payable report.
Purpose: Because some organisation make their sales in a different currency, so it’s beneficial for them to run these reports using different currencies.
264 votesHi everyone, thanks for all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding aged reports in different currencies.
It seems that this idea picked up several different themes over time so we want to clarify where we’re at with this. In the past few months our product team has worked hard to improve the functionality in this area. That includes releases for totals when run in a single currency - so you can see a total of your foreign currency, and disclosures 🎉
We’ve introduced FX disclosures on the Aged Reports, which displays as a note at the bottom of your report or as an icon next to figures on the report to indicate that they include revalued foreign currency amounts to give you more flexibility. The disclosure will contain all the currency information that has been used to calculate the figures in your report. The exchange rate note will display…

Tracking - Increase the number of tracking categories
I have a real estate client who wants to track clientID and Postcode but also Agent name and property value range. I can only use 2 categories and so have had to make a number of Item codes for each agent 30+ codes per agent in order to do this. If we could have more than 2 tracking categories that would be great!
216 votesHi everyone, we appreciate all the interest in Tracking. As widely used as this feature is we have no plans at this point to develop and extend the current limitations of Tracking in Xero.
As some here may have explored - there are connected apps that may serve some of the needs of Tracking, as well as Xero Projects for those looking to monitor and record finite business projects or jobs.
If there's any change, we'll return here to update.
You're welcome to continue to share detail of how increasing options for tracking could benefit your business, however we want to be transparent in our position, so you can make the best decision as needed for your business.

Xero Mail - Send as @company-name.com not message-service@post.xero.com
Ability to make an email sent from Xero appear as @company-name.com instead of message-service@post.xero.com, when users send an email to their client/customer.
Purpose: To provide more validity when sending communications from Xero out to clients/customers and avoid items ending up in Spam/Junk mail.
156 votesHi everyone, thank you for your thoughts and feedback to the idea here. We understand the interest and rationale for why you’d like to be able to send from your own company address when sending items from Xero.
This capability is something our product teams have reviewed multiple times, however being transparent with you all the road to developing a feature of this kind is rather complex and requires extra steps outside of Xero for customers to enable, and possibly impact delivery and spam control through the process. For the time being, this is not something that we have planned to develop.
To confirm how this currently works, when you send emails from your Xero organisation, these are are sent from our email message service. If your customer replies using ‘Reply to’ from the email they’ve received, their reply will go to the ‘reply-to’ email address that has been set… -
Organisation settings - Backup / export copy of Xero file
Ability to export copies of the Xero org data.
Purpose: Because the ability to export the copy of the Xero file data makes the user more comfortable. In case there’s incident happens.
149 votesHi everyone, we appreciate wanting the ability to create your own back of your data. For individual use, we recommend creating your own backup by exporting the relevant data from Xero - There are many areas of Xero you can export data from and we have an article that details this more.
Protecting your data is important to us. We do daily backups of customer data to safeguard against data corruption and any hosting service failure. However, these backups aren't designed to be used by individual organisations to undo/reverse data changes performed by users in the organisation.
You can read more on Security at Xero on our website.
Being transparent, this isn't something we're looking to develop for individual use ourselves. If of importance to your business, we do have some official app partners who can fulfill this need and you can explore these through our Xero App… -
Bank Rule for overpayments
We have a lot of clients that make payments on account that don't match invoices.
For example they may have a food supplier who they pay £500 a week but this doesn't match any invoices.
It would be beneficial if we could set up a Bank Rule so that these payments are automatically treated as overpayments to the designated supplier ledger.
Currently we have to go "add details", select "overpayment", put in supplier name, then "save transaction" for every single one. A Bank Rule would do them all in the press of a button and save a lot of time.
111 votesHi all, while it's really great to see how many of our users are making use of automating reconciliation by setting up Bank Rules, priorities lye in other areas of Bank Reconciliation for the team at present.
We know where our customers would like to see our attention when we have resource to broaden horizons in the space of Bank Rules and Overpayments will be high on this list when the time comes.
To confirm there is no work planned atm, but we'll share if and when this changes.

AU Payroll - Sort by Surname
To be able to sort Pay Employees by Surname and it holds them in that order instead of refreshing
103 votesHiya community, thanks for your support in this. Totally get why you may want to set the default view to sort by surname in Payroll. Being open, with many of the teams resource working hard to fine tune payroll for STP phase 2 there are no direct plans for developing the option to set a default for sorting of employees atm.
To confirm, right now from your list of employees you can click on the column header to sort ascending or descending alphabetically - So, once on the screen you can click Last name to sort your employees by this column.
We'll update again if there's any change planned.

Invoicing - Remove 'Powered by Xero' in Footer of emails
Remove 'Powered by Xero' Advertisement on the footer invoice emails (only recently added)
100 votesHi everyone, appreciate this topic has picked up momentum in the last couple of months since “Powered by Xero” was first introduced to our invoice emails.
Our product team have been working through the next iteration of the invoice email. They’ve reviewed feedback about this email from multiple sources and are planning some changes to address some of the concerns, in particular that the purpose of this feature is for marketing and advertising purposes. This feature was developed, designed and implemented will the sole intention of increasing trust with the invoice emails we generate inside the Xero platform. The data after delivering this has shown that it does just that, increasing engagement with your invoice emails and ultimately getting you, our customers, paid faster.
Therefore the “Powered by Xero” footer will remain in place, however we will be reducing its size, better integrating it into a redesigned email experience… -
Batch Deposits - Select Invoices over multiple pages.
Ability to tick/select invoices over multiple pages.
Purpose: To save users time when they’re doing batch deposits.
100 votesHi community,
I wanted to let you know that the product and tech team have been following this thread and have been listening to your interest in the functionality. We do understand the frustration it’s causing when dealing with a large number of invoices awaiting payment. Your time is valuable, and the challenges you’ve encountered are not reflective of the seamless experience we aim to provide.
However, we are not able to build everything at once. And as a global business with many requests for our different regions and needs, when it comes to payments, we are prioritizing first improving the online invoicing experience to allow more payers to pay online. That is the most critical functionality as we know those using online payments, get paid faster. There are still some critical needs here.
This idea is on our radar though, and as we work through the priority list, it…

Fixed Assets - Revaluation
Ability to revalue an asset in Xero.
Purpose: Because some assets need to be re-evaluate. Especially for businesses that holds property with its value increasing
96 votesHi everyone, we wanted to loop back on the outcome of the survey we did. Our product team have used this feedback, and looked into building this feature but at this stage want to confirm that this work is not currently on our roadmap.
As a global business with many requests for our different regions and needs, we are not able to build everything at once.
We appreciate this is not the news you’d like around this but do want to be upfront with you all here to help you make the best decisions as needed for your businesses. If things change, we’ll communicate this with you through the idea here.

Invoices - Ability to recognise future revenue
The ability to recognise future revenue from the invoice.
Purpose: To find out the future revenue, because for some businesses the invoice that they’ve issued to their customer is the revenue for the future month.
95 votesHi all, appreciate the interest and rationale in wanting to be able to recognise revenue of a sale at a date different to that of the invoice or payment date.
While this maybe a function we look to explore in the long-term we want to be upfront that this is not something we'll be developing in the near term. In the meantime it may be best to look into connected apps that can solve for revenue recognition. We'll be sure to let you know if there's any change around this, here.

Petition for Xero Executives Regarding Alleged "Improvements"
Petition for Xero Executives Regarding Alleged "Improvements"
I encourage Xero Subscribers and other customers to start commenting and upvoting so we can show the Executives that these "improvements" are NOT improvements!
So, if you have had problems with any of the alleged improvements, some I have listed below, they include any sub issues associated with the changes.
Please add only "I agree" in comments. This will help our overall numbers into a louder and bigger voice.
- New Bills View
- New Contacts View
- New Invoice View
- Retiring of classic invoice layout
- Xero Support Staff Gaslighting you
Unfortunately, there are so…
94 votesHi community, I’d like to share the new Xero Central page for new invoicing that we noted was coming.
Along with updates to individual ideas on the site here, this page will become the one source for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Remember, you can keep switching between the two products between now and September. Thanks

Product & services - Create custom (tiered) price lists for contacts
Ability to create multiple price lists for the same inventory items, and be able to set a default for each contact.
To enable tiered pricing for different groups of customers. Would save time and require less manual checking
85 votesHi all, thank you for contributing to idea here. While our Inventory team have reviewed the idea for custom / tiered price lists in Xero, we want to be open that we do not have development planned for enabling more extensive Inventory management like this.
There are many Inventory apps that connect with Xero and offer these types of services and more - You can explore these on Xero App store. To be transparent we will update the status to not planned - If there is any change to this we will share with you here.

Bills - Direct Payment Link (ASB or Kiwibank)
I would like to protest the removal of the ASB direct bank link for paying invoices.
The attraction of Xero is that it makes it faster and easier to run a business. The direct payment link was one of the features I appreciated most as it removed the friction from the process of monthly bill payments.
Connecting and interacting with your bank electronically is one of the key deliverables of Xero webware and it seems daft to remove it.
Can Xero review this decision please?
71 votesHi all, appreciate the interest and rationale in wanting to be able to keep the direct payment link feature. Unfortunately, due to low usage levels, we did make the difficult decision to retire this functionality to focus on other products and features that are more heavily used by our customers. We’re sorry this is disappointing.

Reports - Toggle display names (Reporting v Account name)
Where the "Reporting Name" feature is used when creating accounts, it would be great to be able to select either account name or reporting name when running reports such as the BS, P&L or trial balance
65 votesHi everyone, we appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared here.
We can see how reporting names would be confusing to clients, so I’m pleased to let you know that our product team have recently made a change that means they are not visible for non-adviser reports 😁 This means the reporting name is only visible on templates within the Xero Business Edition and non-adviser users will always see the Chart of Account name when running their reports.
Reading through the comments here and via our support team, the main need is for clients to understand their reports, which means viewing them by COA. To be open and upfront we don't have direct plans to work on a toggle in the foreseeable future so we're moving this idea to 'not planned'.

SSO - Add SAML authentication support
Implementing SAML for authentication to allow businesses to manage the identities themselves such as businesses that connect their identity provider to LDAP
Purpose: Allow staff to login easier and depending on the identity provider setup securely.
37 votesHi everyone, we appreciate adding SAML authentication support to Xero is important to you all. But to be open, this is not on our team’s roadmap right now and we'll close the idea here to give clarity to anyone coming across.
As I see that some of you have mentioned Azure SSO, we have an idea for this that you can join in. Alternatively, if there's a different SSO provider that you'd like to integrate with, start a new idea.

Batch Payments: Reference from the Bill instead of Contacts
When generating a batch payment for multiple bills, the reference column of the batch payment is driven from the reference field within the supplier contact.
When a batch payment is made the reference is automatically set from contacts rather than the reference on the invoice. This means that in the reference column of the batch payment the invoice reference is required to manually added, doing this also updates the contact which means this process has to be completed every month otherwise you end up exporting payments with the previous months invoice reference as the payment reference.
The simplest fix is…
29 votesHi everyone, rounding back we appreciate there hasn't been much explanation before now on why this idea is not planned.
Coming across from our previous forums this has been reviewed by many of our team in product. To start, and explain logic behind the scenes - Xero allows references to be pulled from either:
- what's been entered as a reference for the contact, or
- the bill reference
Batch payments is designed to cater for businesses that require the same reference for every invoice via the reference entered in the Contact record.
👉For example utility companies needing an account number entered as a bill reference; so that the utility company knows who paid them.
If you need to have all the payee references be pulled from the bill instead of the contact record then you can remove the reference from the contact field when processing your batch. Moving forward all of…

BAS - Withholding Payer Number (WPN) without ABN to be accessible in Xero
Ability for a client that only has withholding payer number and no ABN to be able to lodge tax declarations or payment summaries.
Purpose: To easily comply with ATO regulations.
26 votesThanks for engaging and sharing your interest for enabling Xero to support STP and auto super for WPN payer withholders.
We want to be upfront with you all, that there are no plans to support this feature at this time. We understand this may mean looking for alternative solutions that can meet your needs at present. If there's any plans made in the future we'll communicate this through the idea here.
- Don't see your idea?
