New Invoicing - Keep Classic Invoicing
KEEP THE CLASSIC FORMAT FOR INVOICING

Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

We are now sending invoices to our own email and removing all Xero Branding to get around the problem so we can forward it to our client in a professional manner! -

We are extremely frustrated with Xero's recent change to email branding, which now forces our invoices and communications to include the Xero logo. This change makes our company look unprofessional and cheap, as if we are using a third-party service rather than managing our own finances.
Branding is crucial for maintaining trust and credibility with our clients, and this decision undermines that. As a result, we are now reverting to manually sending invoices outside of Xero to maintain our professional image—adding unnecessary time and effort to our workflows.
We urge Xero to reconsider this approach and allow businesses to control their own branding in client communications. Please provide an option to remove Xero branding from emails.

Surprise, another problem!
Now when I need to copy information from an invoice and try pasting it into excel, I get the template coding and not the actual information, is this another brilliant solution?
I've opened countless support tickets and the response is "Call one of our specialists and tell them your product ideas". What is that? this is not a matter of me letting the product team what can be a good idea to add or how to do THEIR JOB (which obviously lacks invoicing experience and research) , this is a problem of me having ALL my billing tasks delayed due to a change that no one asked for.
All these problems are affecting my processes and requiere manual intervention, resulting in delayed invoices, accumulated work and possibly overtime from my team. Is Xero going to cover that expense? if so, i'll gladly sit and have coffee with any specialist you want.
If not, I need a SOLUTION ASAP and that is for Xero to make the old invoicing layout available until you actually have a new system that works for accountants not for designers and to look good.

I tried copying a line of email addresses and the sytem doesn't recognize point . Comma , Semi colon ; or space to separate the emails, manually adding every single one is extremely time consuming

When deleting an item my invoicing template takes at least 30 seconds to recalculate the invoice subtotal, copying a GL account or tracking option also takes time and if I click tab to choose it, it sends me to create a new tracking option, really annoying

Why did Xero decide to change something that was working pretty well and the new version is not giving us what we require?
Time stamp and audit trail of where the invoice was sent for instance. This can be done ONLY if an invoice is not marked as SENT, it is just ridiculous.
I appreciate the support team help that advised this, but the development team did NOT consider the final consumer needs as usual.
As bookkeepers/accountants, we have raised the issues before the old version was terminated, but we were not heard or taken into consideration. A decade ago Xero was COLLABORATING with us to get a better product, now we are disregarded even though we use it on full time basis! Why have a new product that is worse than the original one??? -

I would prefer the classic invoicing; new invoicing is time consuming. The approve button on top should be put back to the bottom as was before. It takes more time. Please change it back to Classic invoicing.

Can you please urgently turn on classic invoicing, I have been forced to use your "new" way and it is absolutely useless, (want to use a lot of other words here) time consuming and most of all NOT USER FRIENDLY & DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY.
Give us back classic as a permanent option, we do not care if if has no more updates done to it. It is far superior and WORKS.

The new version does not suit our needs.
On teh old one, you could have plenty of black lines to organise the line items better,
This one doesn't let you have them, doesn't let me add 10 black lines with one click.When adding items, the old one would have them all loaded automatically. This one is doing a ajax query or something, it makes the erver request when i start typing, which cause delays and layout shifts, causing mis clicks.
The auto save feature is bad for our use case, it results in duplicated invoices.
We don't want autosave.Sometimes, when you prepare invoices in different tabs, the autosave fails and the system bugs, it never lets you save the invoice. I have to copy everything to a new invoice, very time consuming.
When I'm trying to edit an item, sometimes it shifts from 2 lines to 1 line, causing layout shifts, it is very bad.
When trying to approve and invoice, the default button is approve and emails, which is not useful. Approve and then view the invoice screen is better. The previous way to add the payment was fast, less clicks involved.
When you remove a line item, sometime it can take 10 (!) seconds for the total price to refresh. Like you remove a line item, add another, the total will add the new price and not remove the old one. It is so random and so bad, you cant predict when it happens and when totals are calculated correctly, as it will add something but not substract the other.
Only advantage i see, is that items you search display the prices on the search list., but that is really minor.
0/5 stars, please let us use the old invoice ASAP, there was nothing wrong with it.
This system is not only confusing, the layout shifts are eye straining, the bugs are infuriating and all the processes involve time to wait for the products to load more clicks now. We have made embarrassing mistakes with the prices we charges our clients, it is so unproffessional.
We are already looking to change the accounting software.
Xero new invoicing is so bad!Also why is the top item the 'Add new' button?
I am typing the exact thing, obviously the closes match should be first, not the 'add new item' button, i mis click that all the time!
Add New should be last, or only appear when there is no exact matchOn the old invoice, when you click on the Quantity or Price, it automatically selects the whole thing, so you can quickly type to start overwriting.
On the new, some times, it does, sometimes it doesn't. The fact that there is no consistency causes multiple extra clicks and mistakes -

They've not listened to us and I don't think they will do so now, all of our comments have probably been unread and sadly I cannot see Classic coming back which is such a shame because the New Invoicing is a complete mess and like everyone else I absolutely hate it too.
Not sure what we can do now but if anyone finds a way how to contact someone or finds a better system elsewhere, please share details on here.

I hate the new invoicing so much, I have voiced my concerns a few times, the view is too wide, it is clunky, doesn't flow, takes longer. I vote classic invoicing also. I don't mind change if it is for the better this is not

I absolutely hate the new invoicing set up. You cannot set up multiple lines, 5, 10, 15 etc. Timewise it takes longer to invoice as things are not as efficiently placed as they were before i.e. the ability to attach is at the bottom of the invoicing page rather than the top and the ability to approve is up the top and not the bottom as it was before. I vote to bring back classic invoicing as this new version sucks. There was no reason to change since it worked fine before.
