New Invoicing - Open attached files in the current window
open attached files (especially PDFs) in the current window (same as old invoicing), not in a new tab which is automatically happening with new invoicing.
is frustrating as you now need to go back and forth between tabs if you want to transpose info from the attachment into the invoice.
Much more user friendly the old way with a resize-able/move-able viewing window within the same tab
Hi team, thanks for staying tuned into the idea here for update of files preview. Our team have released a change, and you'll now find when you 'view' a file attached to an invoice this'll now show a side by side view so you can transcribe any detail as needed from the attachment to your invoice. ✨

Some of my clients raise an invoice from a purchase order they have received but now they can't process it from files and have it sit on the side or even attach when a new invoice is being raised - why has this feature been taken away? Not everyone creates an invoice directly out of Xero. Why also, must a contact be selected before any files can be attached? Doesn't make sense. To be honest I really can't see the reason for moving away from classic invoicing it works very well and efficiently. The new invoice layout is not as intuitive and we're not looking forward to having to use it.

How do attach a file from the file library to an invoice in new system. In the old system used to be able open the file such as an RCTI and then it would sit to the side on same page whilst you entered the sales invoice. can only upload files not from the file library.

This is a no-brainer and an essential part of invoice entry. We will need to review working practices of all staff resulting in lower productivity from this missing detail.

Bring back the pop up on the invoice page.
One thing that the new invoices do not let you do that is a real deal breaker for me is to view the back up in a pop up on the same invoice page. Going back and forth from two pages is really hard for me to check the correct input of many lines on my invoices. Xero.... please, please do not drop this.

Echoing David's comments. Would it be possible to get some reassurance from the appropriate product manager that the Classic Invoicing won't be sunset before the new invoicing exposes this feature please.
Xero were adamant that no features would be lost when switching from classic invoicing, but the change to this feature is a show stopper for us -

Being able to easily copy/paste info from the Invoice into the Invoice create screen is essential. Our company receive RCTIs and we just enter them in Xero. We do not send any invoices directly from Xero, so once entered we approve immediately. Using a drop down to select approve every time is extermely inefficient. At least we should be able to set our preferred default setting here so that approve is the first thing we see, rather than approve and send.

Really need the attached file to open as before as a pop up on the invoice and not in a separate page as cannot check the input of the invoice to be correct to the back up. Cannot keep going from page to page. This is critical to my workflow

Before the invoice page update, if an attachment to an invoice was opened it could be viewed on the same tab as the invoice, like it can be for bills. However, now the attachment opens as a PDF on a separate browser tab. It makes it much more difficult to compare the attachment to the invoice. It would be great if it could be viewed on the same tab as the invoice again.

Can we please view the attachments in a pop up screen in the invoice as we do in classic invoicing with a "next" button to view multiple attachments. The new invoicing opens a new tab for each attachment. This slows down our approval process when invoicing. We now have to wait for the tabs to open and toggle between tabs.

I agree with all comments about this. It is essential to have this feature for me as it saves a huge amount of time every month. On the old system I have always wished that I could copy and paste from the job sheet into the invoice. It doesn't do this on my Mac anyway. If this could also be made possible it would be amazing. But, just being able to see the job sheet when producing an invoice is the crucial thing.

I totally agree, there are several posts about this. I really can't see how the new system is time saving, so far, everything on the new system is sooo time consuming!!!

I hate this new auto save function in the new invoicing version once you start an invoice you cant change your mind and cancel out aas you could before. This is not a helpful feature. Go back to the classic way.

Well said! That's exactly the issue I've just raised with support. If not resolved it is going to make the new invoicing a complete pain.

I attach an emailed docket to an invoice then enter all the information. In the classic invoicing, the document would appear on the left hand side as a preview, now it opens into a new window. As I need to attach the original docket to the invoice for the client, it is a great way to double check I'm attaching the correct docket. Now I end up with numerous tabs open.
This worked perfectly with classic, can we please have this in the new version
