New Invoicing - Print PDF option
Provide the ability to directly save invoice as a pdf like it did in classic invoicing, rather than opening it in Chrome and then having to click the download button etc, the old way was more efficient.
Hi everyone, as of today we have released a change to this process. Rather than opening the PDF in a new browser window, now when you click Print PDF in new invoicing the file will automatically download for you to Print from your device. We thank you for your feedback on this.

I don't download invoices and normally just click print when the new tab in Chrome opens. Just now it has stopped doing this and is only allowing me to download them then I have to open it and then click print. This is really frustrating and forcing me to download EVRY invoice is a pain when all I want to do is print them.
When I click print PDF I want to print it NOT save PDF

Clicking preview and save is alot quicker, keeps the file name as it was in classic and saves to downloads, but still an extra un-necessary step

Print PDF option is very important to us & most of our clients. Please transfer it to the new invoicing verison.
Its a great tool for our credit control so they can have invoice copies & send with their email.
Also remember not everyone likes everything sent via email, still alot of people like it sent in the post. -

Being able to print to pdf and have it go direct to the download folder is essential for my invoicing processes. Please ensure this is included in the new invoicing.

Agreed - being forced to click any more than the current method is an inefficiency that needs to be removed

I've gone back to Classic invoicing as it's much quicker & does what I want it to. New invoicing didn't print all the info on a draft invoice unless I physically clicked on a box to "change" something. I create invoices from "quotes" (sales orders for us), so don't always need to change anything for the draft invoice. The "save & continue editing" option is much better, then I have the option to "print pdf" - simples!!

I agree - who are these people checking these 'NEW' ideas?!

Oh geez, we can no longer email from xero in classic or new invoicing as it includes the invoice detail in the email (we are on a summary custom invoice template and we don't want this displayed as it is internal accounting only). NOW in the new invoicing we won't be able to print to PDF to download and email them like we're in the early 2000's either?! Absolutely terrible. So much time wasting. Next i'll be getting out the typewriter and fax machine.

On top of that, printing an invoice pdf is now inconsistent with printing a quote (which still does what classic invoicing did before as well). Please just add an option in settings that allows us to check or uncheck "[x] Print invoice in new tab". If you wish, that option can be checked by default but when we uncheck that the behaviour should revert to exactly how it was in classic invoicing (ie save the pdf directly without opening it in a new tab).
Oh, and Clare Tayler; you can force it into a specific folder in your Chrome settings. This has nothing to do with Xero.

I totally agree, and there is a similar comment further up this page. I like knowing that if I press print (pdf) it will automatically be in my downloads folder.

I totally agree & there is another similar comment on this page. I liked the print to pdf going straight to my downloads folder.

Totally agree. We print to pdf for our project records. This is going to make my invoicing process take longer. Definitely not time saving.

Absolutely 100% agree with you Anishta.
This is so frustrating having the printed invoice appear in another window and then having to download it before being able to attach it to an email.
It's as if Xero thinks the only way people send invoices is through Xero which I only use 5% of the time. -

The new invoicing should do exactly what the classic invoicing did when printing PDF. With the classic invoicing, the file automatically goes to my download so I have saves straightaway and I have access to it always unless I manually delete from my downloads.
Now with this new invoicing, printing PDF opens in Chrome. To download, I then have to perform another step whereas with classic invoicing, this was all done in one step.
Please leave the classic invoicing as an option for customers!!!!!! Don't remove it
