Customer Statements - Ageing (30, 60, 90days)
It would be great if we could add ageing on client/customer statements. (Current, 30, 60, 90 days) Many clients have requested that the ageing be displayed on their statements. Current, overdue and total isn't detailed enough..
Hi everybody, coming across from the previous forums we know this idea has a lot of interest.
There is a way of using Xero's reports to accomplish what you're asking here and save the format so you can easily access and send this report to your customers outside of Xero.
Running the Aged Receivables detail report you can choose how many ageing periods you'd like to show and set the period to '30 days'. Simply Filter the report by Contact and Update to run.
- Once you've got it set up, save as Custom so you can easily access this format anytime
- If you deal with groups of contacts this also means you could Filter for multiple contacts to combine the view into one report rather than multiple customer statements 🙂
- Export the report to PDF, where you can send to customers from your email system outside of Xero
We appreciate the one element missing is the ability to send from in Xero, but to be open and upfront we don't have direct plans for making this change within customer statements in the foreseeable future. Thanks

It's embarrassing that Xero can't offer aging periods on statements automatically. Please develop this feature

Why don't they fix this. Think this speaks volumes about Xero.
This feature is normal practice in business around the world and most other Sofware.
The customer statement is only a report and not really part of Xero so should be a case of just tweaking the report not much work probably less than an afternoon for a competent person. Unless the way they have the database se up in the background is flawed and means the information is not accurate. If that's the case roll your sleeves up and fix it.
Don't know what you have this you guys seem to know better and in most case take no notice -

@Lara. Xero made it clear that they are not planning this very important feature although it has been upvoted and subsequently stopped all votes. They want you to use third party apps you have to pay additionally for, although the Xero subscription is not cheap at all. So, take it from me, they will not implement high voted (standard on other software) but will look at less important features.

This feature is a basic requirement of Customer Statements. Why would you not have a direct plan for making this change in customer statements? The idea has alot of interest for a reason.
The Vote button isn't available for me to select it. Could Xero please correct this so you can see a true representation of how in demand this request would be.

We need an aging function on monthly statements. This issue is creating major problems and creating unnecessary manual work and confusion .

Having an aging function on monthly statements is a no-brainer. Surely Xero users have the right to expect such a simple function on their statements. Having a manual solution is not a solution!
-
Airspace Solutions commented
This is ridiculous that it is not possible to automate monthly statements to customers, what a waste of time, Xero needs to get up to speed with technology, the "alternatives" provided are not sustainable and require manual intervention. You increase your fees yet can't provide features that are actually useful to your customers...??

It is also difficult to comprehend how a company as big as xero is soooooooooo stupid to not listen to its customers and fix these obvious issues.
Wake up xero and make some changes this cannot go on we will leave and find a Better program. -

Thanks Sandra, it's difficult to comprehend why Xero are so silent about this issue Kelly's response from 2023 is entirely inadequate. It's hard to believe that we are the customers here.

Can this please be looked at? I've got customers who aren't paying on tine because they don't understand their statements. I'm fed up having to walk them thru it all the time. They just want to see what's overdue, how overdue it is, and what's current. Its not that complex.

Can Xero please, for the love of all things holy, add ageing to Customer Statements.
This is beyond critical and has been around for longer than I have, and I'm OLD, how is it still not standard in Xero and why is it not even on the agenda to add?
I cant even vote for the idea on anyone else's post regarding this, it's the only topic voting isnt working on???

The Xero standard statement is NOT adequate. It says “invoices due” when some of them are not!
We tried the Statey app, which is good, but it had a bug and sent wrong statements to my customers, so I lost confidence.
Honestly, this and other things that Xero is refusing to implement hate making me lose confidence in the platform…

This idea would have reached probably over 1000 votes if it was not closed by Xero. Still getting comments from other accountants that stress how important this basic idea is, it becomes more and more clear that migrating clients slowly over to other platforms was not a mistake.

I agree with all the other accountants here. The ageing table is something that most other programs do or at least have the functionality to add in an advanced template.
This feature is highly requested and common practice.
Sending a statement should not involve printing custom internal reports.

My clients have customers who pay according to the statement in what is shown as 30 days etc - We have to manually now send them the accounts receivable report in addition to the statement, as they refuse to pay without the breakdown. Surely this is a basic functionality of a statement? You want to show what is overdue and the aging shows it clearly.

Statey works great but why do we have to pay additional now for an app just to show a basic ageing functionality on the customer statements.
I fought tooth and nail to get all my client over onto the Xero platform and now that they are there they are looking to me and saying but why is this not showing and I look like an idiot for basicly forcing them to convert to Xero. One of my client's have customers that are refusing to pay them because the ageing is not showing on the statement.
This is unacceptable.
I urge Xero to respond to this issue and change the template of customer statements. The ageing is already built-in in the reports and age analysis, it should really not be such a big hassle to show it on the statements.

It would be great if Xero showed the aging at the bottom of customer statements, especially overdue amounts and not just the balance due as it does currently

Hi Lucilia,
Kelvin from Statey here 🙂. Thank you so much for giving Statey a try and for your feedback!
We're really sorry about the incorrect balance for your customer 🙁! It was a complicated and obscure bug that impacted a handful of organisations. Fortunately, we've been able to track it down and fix it! 🥳
As always, don't hesitate to contact us at support@statey.app if you require assistance or have further questions 😊.

I have to agree with other posters here. This is something that should happen WITHIN Xero. Having an ageing on a statement is a common accounting feature. Although Xero is a great platform, it has a few serious weaknesses in normal accounting functions and reporting. This is one of those weaknesses.

It's very frustrating indeed.
We tried the statey app that was suggested here. It was working quite well until they made a monumental error and sent a statement saying my customer supposedly owed 43k when it was only 2.5k. Apparently this was due to a very old credit note not showing in the account, but clearly this should never have happened.
They also don't sync well with Xero so I can't rely on it anymore.
Come on Xero, listen to your customers!!
