  2. Would be good if there was an option to reorder the pages in a tax return, primarily to be able to bring the tax estimate to the front page of the tax return as that tends to be the key information the client wants to see and it is buried at page 3 or 4 of the tax return when printed.

  3. It would be great to be able to see the balance owing once the BAS is submitted....have a client in credit and had to log on to my OSFA portal to check the running balance to let them know whether they had to make a payment yet. Would be great to get this data into Xero tax somehow. Anything that avoids us having to use the ATO portal is a great move

  4. Some clients want to review their tax return on a PDF format hence it would be helpful if there's an option to put a "draft" water mark

  5. It would be useful if in the Tax Statements reporting data set, we could also see GST statement data (currently only Income Tax and SLS show) so that we can check for unpaid GST balances.

  6. The dividends are not sorted alphabetically in the return, although they are sorted in the prefill. Can we have the ability to sort fields included in the individual tax return worksheets, such as Item 11 Dividends, Item D5 Other work Expenses, and other similar fields.
This will make it easier to check and compare, and it looks much more professional.

  7. One click tax estimate.
We often just print a tax estimate and it would be great to have one button for the tax estimate rather than having to unclick all the other options in the print menu.

  8. PAYG Instalments Estimates pre-ticked

The Print PAYG Instalments payable on the individual tax return Estimate page defaults as "No". This needs to be manually turned on, and even if the client has generated instalments it will not appear on the tax return unless manually selected. Preparers and reviewers may miss this. If it was set on as default then it would not be missed.

  10. I have noticed that Xero rounds the HELP repayment to the nearest dollar when estimating the tax outcome for individual tax returns however the ATO does not round the HELP repayment when issuing the notice of assessment.

Can Xero update the HELP repayment calculation to include cents instead of rounding to the nearest dollar?

  12. Prefill contact name of partner or manager to the Tax return cover page.

Purpose: To help with changeover of managers of clients and when there is staff turnover or promotions of staff.

As currently goes it rolls over from the prior year return and a change in staff or manager require it to be changed manually. Having the contact name prefill from the client details page when the update of a new manager is allocated to the client. This can be set to be either the partner or manager through a check box stating which name to prefill.

    Also even…

  13. Could we have the option to send out accounts and tax returns without a date on them, so that when the client signs them via E-sign options, the date can be updated to reflect the date they signed?

We have been embracing Xero Tax for all our company accounts and tax returns this year, to really identify what still needs to be addressed and provide that feedback before we abandon our existing software.

  14. Please can we have a simple Tax Return Status report that we can run by tax year (or other appropriate filters) that shows all the relevant fields that I can see on personal tax return screen.

This way we would be able to run a report for a particular tax year and see who we still have to do by way of a control check. This would also be useful on the company tax and accounts side

I would also like to see a date finalised on there so we can review and plan for the next tax season

  16. Allow mapping of tracking categories in Xero Tax.

Xero Blue is better catered for tracking category use as opposed to subaccount creation, however, tracking categories from Xero Blue are unable to be mapped in Xero Tax. Therefore, manual entry is required to populate multiple schedules in Xero Tax.

    Example:
    • Client has two Rental Properties, therefore will have two Rental Schedules in the ITR
    • Income from both properties is mapped to a singular GL Account ‘Rental income’
    • The Income in Xero Blue file is segregated by tracking category option, e.g.
    o Tracking Category: Property
    o Category Options: Property…

  17. The format of the 2023 IR 3 return does not appear to allow for a nil amount of FIF income. When nil is entered (which will be the case when the CV method produces loss), an error arises. The disclosure of FIF income (even if nil) may be important for statute barring purposes and will also avoid subsequent queries from IR (once exchange on information between countries lands on IR desks) on why a taxpayer may not disclosed offshore dividend income (where those dividends arose from FIF investments). The suggested fix of amending or notifying through MyIR seems to defeat…

  18. For deceased individual clients, the period end date for their final tax return needs to be changed to their date of death. The tax return should not still be reporting the entire financial year.

There is a cell where we are able to input client date of death.

Recommending for product team to code this update so the period end date of these individual tax returns are also updated to reflect the Date of death.

  19. The current livestock schedule in trust tax return (and probably others) is insufficient.

We calculate livestock on Market Value in the Financials and inset these figures into the Tax Return, then use the Reconciliation area to bring it back to Average Cost.

This worked perfectly fine in MYOB Tax, as we could overwrite the average cost calculation in the livestock trading schedule. However in Xero Tax we can't overwrite the closing stock value.

The best I've been able to figure is to eschew the livestock trading schedule altogether, inserting the sale under Other Business Income and manually filling out the…

Hi everyone, we’d like to confirm that GST F5 for foreign currency ledger is not something we have plans to develop at this time. We’re still interested to get a clearer understanding of users that’d like to see this developed for Singapore tax, and will continue to track this through the conversation here.

In the meantime, for those who aren’t already aware, in a Singapore organisation users can access the GST Audit report which shows the base currency, FX value and Singapore dollar value information you’ll need to meet IRAS requirements.

As the GST Audit report doesn’t show the gains and losses needed for IRAS reporting, you can use the Foreign Currency Gains and Losses report to see this information.

If there’s any change we will let you know on the thread here 😊
