  1. Search Job name when searching for invoices
The search function should be consistent across all search. If you can search for job name or part of job name in Search, you should be able to search for job name in Business/Invoices. This brings consistency to the search function.

Hi community, we appreciate the interest here however want to be forthright that this isn't something we have any plans for developing at present.

We'll continue to get a pulse on interest through this idea and share if there are any updates.

A feature I just wanted to highlight and may help solve the needs of some here already is queries with JAX.

Right now, it's possible to query your invoices through JAX. While Projects isn't a field JAX can interpret just yet we are continuing to expand on it's capabilities. However, in the meantime, if there is a common keyword or phrase you're using in a Projects invoices you could look to ask JAX to show you all results for this phrase which may help you narrow down and find the invoices you're after.

  2. Show the total amount of Domestic Reverse Charge VAT on an invoice, to make it clear to the customer what is due by them.

It is not necessary to show the VAT amount on each line, when it is the same for the whole invoice.
While Xero may be compliant with HMRC, it is not right for businesses who are being repeatedly asked for this information to be shown on invoices. It would be a simple fix for Xero as the functionality is already in place.

This is on a discussion thread with plenty of users requesting the same thing.

Thanks for sharing this idea and for explaining the impact it has on customers using Domestic Reverse Charge VAT.

We can see why having the reverse charge VAT amount shown more clearly on invoices would be helpful, especially where customers expect to see this information called out directly rather than needing to calculate it themselves.

We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue to track interest and better understand how many customers this affects.

For now, Xero supports Domestic Reverse Charge invoicing by showing the relevant tax treatment and required disclaimer, but we understand that doesn’t fully meet the need raised here.

If this would help your workflow, please add your vote and share details in the comments about when you need to show the reverse charge VAT amount on the invoice. That context helps our product team better assess the problem.

Thanks so much for sharing this idea ⭐ We’re moving it into Gaining support so other customers like you can vote and comment while we keep gathering feedback and exploring how it could fit alongside our wider invoicing and recurring invoicing work.

  4. We are a multi-currency business. We send out invoices in GBP (base currency), EUR and USD. We have 3 bank accounts (GBP, EUR, USD. I therefore had to create separate invoice templates for each currency, to show the correct bank details. I added the relevant invoice theme when setting up a new contact (customer). This works well when raising an invoice. However when manually sending out a statement it does not take the invoice theme from the one chosen on the invoice (= in our case normally default invoice theme on contact). It takes the ‘default template’ = the first…

Hi everyone, thanks for continuing to engage and share interest for this idea. We appreciate how setting defaults can improve the efficiency of your processes.

Being open this isn't something we have direct plans of implementing in the near term but have a close eye on the idea and will share if there is any news.

  5. Having recently created a custom invoice template for our business I wanted to include a merge field for payment terms (e.g. "30 days form date of invoice") next to the invoice due date field. Unfortunately customer payment terms, even though a data field in the contact record, is not available to incorporate in a customer invoice template. In my opinion this would be a useful addition to the custom invoice functionality.

Hi team, we appreciate the input and feedback on how a merge field for an individual contact's payment terms would be useful.

While we're making improvements to the branding experience with our new invoice template editor, we want to be upfront that we don't have immediate plans for adding more merge fields for advanced branding themes.

We'll continue to watch the appetite here and share if there are any updates. Thanks

  6. When using the search fund for INVOICES current options are: Enter Number, Reference, Contact or Amount. It would be nice to also be able to search by the account number issued to your clients.

Really good to have the understanding of use cases in which you'd want to search invoices by the contact account number rather than contact name. Thanks everyone, we are continuing to develop our invoicing experience, however I want to be upfront that this isn't something we have plans for right now.

We are continuing to get a sense of the interest through this idea, so if there are any updates to share I'll let you know here.

  7. Ability to add custom fonts for standard invoice themes.

Hi team, you'll have seen that we have introduced a new Invoice template editor that will soon replace the Standard branding in organisations.

While fonts are limited at present, and we don't have intentions of developing the ability to support every font imaginable our product team are very interested to know if there are specific font's your business would typically use and like to see added.

Please do share in this thread and I'll keep you updated if further options are added to the new Invoice template editor.

  8. Idea for a warning pop-up message for when clients add payments to invoices
(usually they haven't matched off by cent variance or something that has made it not match in the reconcile screen) Currently, its to easy for clients to add payment without realising they have also coded this, leading to double return of income/GST paid twice

Hi Eden, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We understand why having a confirmation prompt on the “Add Payment” action could be helpful in preventing mistakes.

At the moment, when a payment is entered on an invoice, it is recorded immediately once confirmed. If a selection is made in error, this can require reversing or correcting the transaction afterwards.

One option in the meantime is to use the bank reconciliation screen with the Find & Match process, where transactions are matched directly against bank statement lines. This can help reduce the likelihood of accidental manual payment entries from within the invoice screen.

I’ve updated the status of this post to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest and gathering more feedback from the community.
