Our payroll requirements vary across the year as we are very seasonal. It would be useful to be able to 'select all' or 'deselect all' when selecting who to pay when setting up a pay run. Having to deselect about 30 of 35 staff one by one is painful!

Save and Next option for Timesheet approval.
Rather than having to go back to the beginning for each and every timesheet approval you should be able to save and view next in the same way you can with bills.

NZ Payroll - Sick leave entitlements to automatically accrue when employees are included in any future pay run following their entitlement.
As a Chartered Accountant, I’ve observed an issue in Xero’s handling of sick leave entitlements that I believe warrants improvement. Currently, if an employee is not included in the pay run closest to their sick leave entitlement date, the entitlement does not accrue. This creates a significant gap in compliance with employment obligations and adds unnecessary administrative burden to correct.
To enhance the functionality and flexibility of Xero's payroll system, I think that sick leave entitlements should automatically accrue when the employee is included in any future pay run following their entitlement date. I've made sure this is shared back with our product team, and while we can understand the reason for change you'd like to see here, we want to be open that this isn't something we have planned in the immediate future.
Right now, if an employee isn't included in the scheduled pay run when their leave anniversary date falls, you'll need to do a manual leave adjustment to grant the employee the missed entitlement.

UK Payroll - Extend SSP without reverting pay runs
SSP EXTENSION; There needs to be a way of extending SSP
Most people who are off sick are not aware of when they will return, it is often necessary to be able to extend SSP. It is not acceptable to have a process that requires reverting payroll. I am still trying to get almost £5000 back from HMRC because Xero reported the variance in April as an additional payroll & the YTD figures have not corrected the issue. Reverting payroll should be the very last resort & not used for something as standard as stat sick leave.6 votes -
NZ Payroll - Edit the layout of employees payslips
We have multiple employees that have various deductions from their wages. This is causing the pay slip to spread accross two pages which is concerning as they may miss important information like messages at the bottom of a pay slip.
There needs to be the either:
1. The ability to change the payslip layout
or

UK Payroll - Option to select/deselect 'Other Previous Earnings' feature on payslips
Remove the feature of 'Other Previous Earnings', or an option of allowing us to choose whether to have this feature. Grouping all previous pay items into 'Other Previous Earnings' in the same financial year is confusing and our employees won't understand what it is for. Please get rid of it!

UK Payroll - Employee 'Known As' Name Field - Please Add to Employee Record
Please can Xero add an Employee 'Known As' Name Field to the Employee Record, and show this alongside the legal name, on the Employees Homepage (& when running payroll) with the ability to sort alphabetically by this 'known as' name in both places.
Nearly half of our employees go by names that are not their legal name. e.g. Annie = Kit Yee, Kate = Catherine, or go by their middle name instead of their first name.
This issue is making running payroll ever more difficult and the potential for error incredibly high, as often the legal name bears no resemblance…10 votes -

NZ Payroll - History and notes in Payroll to show changes made
There should be an audit trail in Payroll detailing when changes to an Employee record is made (for example: date an address was updated for an employee and what it was until that date, likewise for other details such as email address, bank account number, tax code etc). As an Employer we should be able to rely on the digitised Payroll system we are using to determine when changes to an Employee's record has been made. As part of preparing accounts, the average employee number is often required. If this could be generated within Xero that would save time collating the number of employees per month and working out an average for the year. It could subsequently be used as working out the amount of revenue attributable to each staff member.

UK Payroll - Salaried employees who work changing shifts each week
In service industries like hospitality salaried employees will work a different set of shifts each week across 7 days. Currently I have to set up a working pattern and if they phone in sick on a Saturday for example if that day isnt set as their working day (i.e we set them up as Mon-Fri for ease) we have to record the sick day on the Monday to ensure it is deducted. But in these industries the working days are different each week and they dont work on a set pattern. Need the ability to set that the employee works…
