  1. When working in Xero during client meetings or on shared screens, the main menu prominently displays a list of recently accessed organisations. This exposes other client names, which is a confidentiality issue. The previous interface allowed this list to be collapsed, preventing accidental disclosure of sensitive client information.
    Bring back the ability to minimise or hide the “Recent organisations” section—either as:

    A collapse/expand toggle (as previously available),

    A user profile setting to disable the list entirely, or

    A privacy mode that hides client names on demand.

  2. In NZ we are required by law to keep 7 years of records for the IRD (tax department). I make a point of destroying old financial records that are older than 7 years. Xero doesn't have a mechanism to purge old data. I see in my Xero I full record including invoices, supplier invoices and financial data back to Jan 2014.

    I would like to see a system whereby old data was completely wiped, and summary starting figures created for the purged data period, say as at the start of each tax year, for me 1 April 2018 so that…

    Appreciate why you'd like to remove older data from your org after a long period, Steven. Generally we don't want to be touching our customers data, and this isn't something we have plans for implementing. However, we'll get a sense of the interest from others in this here, for our product teams to consider.

    Right now, if you'd like to remove older data there are a couple of options;

    • You could start a new organisation from the date you'd like to keep records from, setting up the organisation with conversion balances from that date. You could also export and import information from the old org to the new one.
    • Change the conversion balances in your existing org and remove older data prior to this date
  3. Hi Xero Team,

    I’m really disappointed to discover that the Xero Mobile App doesn’t provide any way to view the Balance Sheet - a core financial statement that forms half of any set of accounts and is the backbone of understanding a business’s position.

    As a property developer, tracking CAPEX spends per project is critical, and not having quick access to this information on the go is a significant limitation. Even a simple dashboard or quick-glance view in the app would make a huge difference for users like me who rely on Xero to manage their businesses efficiently.

    Appreciate your feedback here, James. It's good to hear the sort of information our customers would find most handy on the go.

    This isn't something we have direct plans for atm, but we'll get a sens of the interest for viewing the Balance Sheet in the Xero Accounting app from the community here and I'll let you know if there are any plans made.

  4. In search since I've used Xero, when searching for an Invoice Number - results would appear and a coloured box with the status - red for Awaiting Payment, and green for Paid. A handy visual meaning I didn't have to actually read the status.
    Now in the new Search - these colours have disappeared. Why? I now have to scan up and down and actually read what it says without my visual guide. Xero keeps making changes to make things harder to use, and any suggestions I follow to make things easier for users, even really simple quick fixes, are…

  5. In the general search field at the top right, it would be very helpful if the search also work with a space or a few spaces at the beginning. Because if I copy an invoice number in the field I always have to delete the spaces first before the search works - it's annoying.

  7. Offline/Online Syncing Xero Accounting Desktop Program which allows for Backup?
    When you dont have internet connection and you need to keep the staff working, obviously the file is not distributed to the cloud, but when the computer gets internet access it Syncs all of its data with the cloud. Xero, when internet connection is lost, you could still use all the same functionality, then once it gets online then it Syncs all the information with the cloud.

    Thanks for sharing this idea, we appreciate wanting to enable staff to keep working when your internet's down.


    If we were to work on a change like this, we'd have to consider the implications this could have if multiple people worked on the same items while they were offline, and how this data would sync when they reconnected to the internet.

  8. Could the Demo Company please be updated first when new features are being rolled out. Often want to test how a new feature works (eg the current Investment Boost in Fixed Assets) or take the Staff through training on the new features, without having to do this in a Client's live data.
    If the Demo Company can have the features first, then can do testing and training of staff before see in the Client's live data.

  9. Create a "widget" with a customizable icon shortcuts to have it where you can click on one button and get you to where you need to go instead of navigation through menus. Have a way to only show which icons appear. For me, it would be "invoices, expenses, refunds, chart of accounts, and inventory". See the attached mock up of what I'm talking about. It would be so nice to have shortcuts right there on the homepage.

    Appreciate your feedback and great visual understanding with your mockup there, Chris. Totally get it's not exactly what you're suggesting here but just as a highlight around shortcuts there are a few that can be used anywhere in Xero to help you quickly navigate to some features such as '/a' to get to the all bank accounts screen, or '/e' to go to all employees 😊

    We'll get a sense of interest building for homepage icons through your idea here.

When will the ability to add a shortcut to the settings like "tracking category" and "Fixed Assets" to the "accounting" dropdown menu be re-activated like you could do with the old task bar, or is this another case of "we don't care about our customers bookkeeper's productivity being lost" as all the other dropdown menus appear to have all the shortcuts?

    Thanks for your feedback on navigation shortcuts. We appreciate you explaining how important quick access to Tracking Categories and Fixed Assets is for your workflow. You should see Fixed Assets within the Accounting menu already. However, you are correct that accessing Tracking Categories requires an additional click and are shown under the Accounting Settings option.

  11. When creating a new organisation, there isn't an option to choose Xero from the dropdown list of "What tool are you currently using to run your business". I'm migrating from one org to another because of limitations in your PAYE scheme functionality. Right now, a user can't select Xero from the list, which may help you shed light on users who are either running into org challenges or who are power users of your tools.

  12. I love the way the various areas have been split now (Home Sales Purchases Payroll etc)

    I would prefer that reports relating to each of those sections, be stored in their menus. IN the Reporting menu, I have 10 varying reports which make it a long menu path. If they were in their individual menus (e.g. Aged Receivables Summary in Sales menu; Aged Payables Summary in Purchase, all Payroll related reports in Payroll) it would be easier to find and more logical. You could have more reports visible as well in each Menu.

    Great to hear you like the new layout of the navigation, Jason.

    Appreciate how further customisation of reports and possible nesting under the relevant menu drop downs could be useful. We'll get a gauge of the interest in this from others in the community here.

    This isn't something we have plans for atm, but will share if this gets picked up at all.

  13. Navigation - Main Menu
    Personally, I access practice tools and hubdoc / syft several times daily, I'd prefer not thave to scroll down to get to these. Settings and Subscription / Billing are access much less frequently and coud me lower in the menu.
    Also the Xero Menu and Home Menu seem to do exactly the same thing? Could the main drop down menu therefore be moved over to the LHS where it was previously.

  14. Please could you add a 'Back to the top' button, especially on the reconcile and report pages, but every page would be useful.
    After scrolling down many line items, it would be far quicker to have this function implemented for ease.

    Hi team, thanks for showing interest in this idea.

    While we don't have any plans for adding this within Xero atm, as mentioned in my last update if you're working on a desktop you can use the 'Home' button on a Windows, or on a Mac you can press the 'Command' key + Left arrow.

    This should help when navigating a long lists or pages like reports.

    We will continue to track the appetite through this idea.

    Good to understand the rationale for your idea here, thanks Hilary. Being open we don't have any plans for enabling users to change the naming of menu's, however we'd like to get a sense of the interest in this sort of capability and understanding more of the terminology that most resonates for our customers here.

  16. I have seen the new Xero update, and the search bar has changed (only looks and complaints)
    1. The search bar stays open, so you manually have to close it, which is slightly annoying.
    2. Your search stays in the bar when it is closed. So when you open the bar again to search for something else, you have to delete the original search. If it has been a while since you last searched, you forget, and it can be so frustrating.

  17. I think the new menu bar is great as its closer to the original layout from about 9-10 years ago.

    But super annoying that I can only access Products & Services via Sales.

    All our purchasing is run through Xero, all our sales is run via external POS that we import summary csv, not detail, so no products or services.

    Seeing as the new navigation bar is already quite full and having a separate productions option is not visually viable, would it not make sense to have the Products and Services link feature in both Sales & Purchases?

  19. It would be useful to be able to see today's exchange rates on the dashboard - I use information on the dashboard to prepare a weekly report and it's annoying to have to go to another screen to display exchange rates which also form part of my Excel report.

    Thanks for sharing this suggestion for the Xero Dashboard. We understand that when you're preparing regular reports, having all the key information in one place can be a real time-saver.

    We've reviewed your idea to be able to see today's exchange rates directly on the dashboard. We can see how having this information readily available would streamline your weekly reporting process.

  20. It would be nice if the Xero app was fully functional like the website. I have clients that only use tablets and rarely use the website. Making the app identical to the website in feature would make it easier for them to do things
