NZ Tax return - Refresh refund bank account from IRD data
Provide the ability to import/refresh the clients refund bank account number held with IRD into the Tax Return. Currently seems like we are having to manually enter it on the tax return. MYOB has this functionality and it's great, saves time and typos.

IR have recently posted an advisory regarding instances of scammers gaining access to customer’s IR accounts and re-directing refunds to their own bank accounts.
There are a few improvements that Xero could make to improve protection for clients:
- add a bank account field to XPM GST returns. The bank account number does not appear on XPM GST returns so there is no check for clients when signing a GST return. A refund GST return filed directly through IR includes a screen to check the refund bank account.
- add a button in XPM GST returns and income tax returns to refresh the bank account from IR records like there is in MYOBAs is currently the case, the bank account number in the returns should remain as being for information purposes only and not flow through to IR.

This would be a great enhancement. Currently if a client changes bank account numbers and the income tax return is not in progress there is no way to update XPM and we have to remember to change the account number in the next year's return. This way it will always be correct.
It would be great if this was available on income tax returns and GST returns.

Totally agree - hope this function is available very soon.
The software should also be able to bring in the NAME of the account at the same time, if there is one in IRD's records (MYOB does this). The account name is not visible in myIR but can be imported by the software.
