XPM - Audit Trail for jobs in XPM
When using Xero Practice Manager (XPM) for job management, it’s incredibly difficult to maintain visibility because there’s no audit trail or history log for key actions like:
- When a job was created or reassigned
- Who changed the job’s due date or status
- When a job’s responsibility moved from one team member to another
This lack of transparency makes it almost impossible to track accountability or performance accurately.
Why is this so important?

Practice Manager (XPM) - Restore date and time details in Notes
XPM Notes - Restore date and time details.
With the new changes to notes in XPM it now shows an approximate timeframe ie- a month ago, 2 months ago.
It no longer shows an actual time stamp on the note to know when it was created or when it was edited...
We use the notes section to record ATO interactions and being able to give them an exact date is much more effective than to say about 2 months ago. Especially when they haven't met their requirements with solving issues.

Xero AU Tax - Audit report of deleted returns
We would like to have an option for a Tax Return that has been deleted off the system to effectively sit in a recycle bin before it is immediately deleted off. Would also like to suggest having the ability to see a report for any such returns that are deleted off to see who has done it and the date.

audit report of user activity in Xero Tax
To have a "history" tab on a client that would show when someone has made a change to something (an address, a phone number/client details) along with who would have archived a client on the system.
The history tab would be a great aspect for support hub team members so they can ask that person if there is an issue or to see a date and time that this has happened to then liase with the client.

Reporting - Build Custom reports with no data limitation
It would be great to be able to create our own reports using any datas available in the system and not be restricted to the pre-existing one : my need is to mix some information from the payables with information from the third party card but I cannot do that directly in the solution I need to export both and do it in excel.

Report - Yet to be started GST Returns
There is currently no option in XPM to build a report that shows the GST returns that have not been created yet. Whilst this is possible using the [Client] Tax Return Status field for Financial year end returns, it is not possible for GST returns.
For practices needing to file 100s of GST returns for various clients each month. Having the ability to see, for a given period, whether any GST filings were missed would be extremely helpful.
5 votesHi David, we appreciate your idea about GST return tracking in XPM. Being able to create a custom report to view GST returns that haven’t been done yet would be really helpful, especially for practices managing high volumes of returns.

Job Manager - Bulk Update suggested Notification Process
Incorrect Bulk Update and Suggested Notification Process
Example Scenario:
On Job Manager, a staff member accidentally selected all active jobs and changed their status from “In Progress” to “Completed” using the bulk update feature.
Impact:Over 150 jobs were marked as completed.
Workflow visibility was disrupted, and deadlines were missed because jobs disappeared from active lists.Root Cause:
Bulk update permissions were too broad.
No audit trail or alert triggered when job states changed.Recommended Controls:
Trigger Email Notifications for Job Status Changes/Setting up email alerts
Detecting incorrect bulk updates
Reverting changes quickly Options

New standard fields in XPM | Report on DOD, additional email address & additional addresses fields
It's great that XPM now has standard fields for Date of Death, additional email addresses (on the client file) and additional physical addresses, however, we cannot run a report to show those fields.

Public Holiday Settings
Public Holiday configuration: There should be a place for admin to set up public holiday for all practice members instead of them having to submit individual timesheets.
The purpose is to have all necessary data for practice manager to do capacity planning accordingly.

Comtinual logging out of the program
I find that Xero Green/(grey) logging out all the time is extremely frustrating for work flow. It has become more apparent with the new versions coming through, that if I spend more than an hour on a job, Xero has logged me out, and the timer I was using resets and loses the time, and after re-logging in, I am taken to the home page, and not the job I was just in. Can there please be an option to remain logged in until the browser closes or I choose to log out, and for goodness sake, can I stay…

Custodian Relationship for SMSF's
Would it be possible to create a new relationship option for Self Managed Superannuation Funds - 'Custodian'. Often when we have SMSF's with properties the SMSF has a trustee company and also an additional company as Custodian for the SMSF. It would be helpful to link both companies to the SMSF via relationships to get a better view of the client's structure.

Practice tools | Jobs - Update job state via quick time entry
In XPM when adding time through the clock, you can add the client, the job and the task that you are working on as well as add notes and mark as billable.
It would be really useful to have a drop down for the job state as well so that this could be updated once you have worked on the job. The ability for quick job state update already exists on the Jobs Overview table so would be good to have here as well from a workflow point of view

Contacts - Suggestion to merge custom fields into standard Place of Birth field
Create a merge option for the new place of birth to merge existing Place of Birth custom field.

Interactive email pop out feature on client search
Having the ability to email a client directly from the 'Search clients' area to avoid opening the client file.
If you search a client & click on the email in the column, there is a pop up just showing the email address again. This should be interactive so you can click on it & an automatic pop out to a new email opens, using your default program. Outlook in my case.

Thank you for your interest in having multicurrency available on Xero’s Ledger plans.
We’ve carefully considered this idea as part of our ongoing product reviews. At this stage, enabling multicurrency for Ledger plans is not in our development pipeline, and there are no plans or timelines to introduce this feature for Ledger.
We appreciate your feedback and will continue to review our product roadmap based on customer needs and market demand. If the status of this idea changes in the future, we’ll be sure to provide an update.

Xero Practice Manager - generate report by Industry Classification
Now that XPM includes the industry classification on the client record, it would be great to be able to generate a report using this field. This would enable us to extra data to easily see which partners have which industries they look after.

Add end date column into Recurring jobs view
Add the end date column into Recurring jobs view so that you see the jobs that are not active and sort by that column. The job may have a current next date but it has actually been ended with an end date and you cannot tell from the main view without clicking into the job.

Centralised user management for Apps/Add-ins.
We need a centralised user management solution for add-ins/apps. What is in place now is too unwieldy once you have more than a few clients. Apps are an important part of the Xero proposition and add tremendous value to the platform. The solution would allow clients and practices to manage users across Xero and the apps enrolled for, which would save significant amounts of time and be much more efficient than what is in place right now i.e. having to set-up users indivdually in each app.

Booking calendar with XPM integration
Develop a booking calendar that integrates with our XPM client database. At the moment we have to run two different databases for the same information, to schedule bookings for clients with accountants/block out time for jobs.
