Files inbox - Allow attachments to be drag & dropped from New Outlook
Allow email attachments (such as PDF's) to be dragged from an email, and dropped into Files. This feature does not work with New Outlook, only Classic Outlook. As Classic Outlook will be made redundant by Microsoft one day, it's imperative Xero restore this functionality we have always had with New Outlook. This isn't an idea. This is a request to maintain the same level of functionality we have always had
Thanks for sharing this feedback in Product Ideas, Tamara. Drag & drop options into Xero Files is something our product team are looking into, however we can't make any commitment to development at this stage. I will keep you updated of any progress around this here.
In the meantime taking on board your feedback here they are keen to get further insight of the old to new outlook experience if there are any further details you'd like to share on your experience using Outlook with Xero, here?
While the drag & drop you're after isn't available atm, you should be able to use the Files unique email to still send your attachments from Outlook to your Xero Files inbox.

You're spot on — this is not a new feature request, it's a regression in functionality that needs to be fixed. The drag-and-drop behaviour from email attachments into Xero Files has always been part of the expected workflow, and the fact that it no longer works with New Outlook is a serious issue given Microsoft's roadmap.
We've logged this with our product team as a priority compatibility issue. The core problem is that New Outlook runs in a sandboxed environment that currently does not support cross-application drag-and-drop the same way Classic Outlook does.
Workarounds in the meantime:
- Download the attachment and upload manually to Xero Files
- Use the Xero mobile app for document captureWe hear you — losing this functionality is not acceptable, especially as Classic Outlook approaches end of life. We'll keep this thread updated with any progress. https://19216811eg.com/

With Microsoft aggressively pushing the New Outlook, it's imperative apps are kept up to date with the new technology requirements.
