Problems with Xero Bank Reconciliation where client uses online banking for multiple payee payments. Friction between Bank payments and Xero settings.
Background
Client selects 20 creditor payees to create batch for payment processing. (20 payees is the max that Bank online processing will allow in one batch).
Xero batch is then imported to bank (ANZ)online software multiple payee (as opposed to Directlink). Bank processes payee payments as individual payee payments and lists them as such on client's bank stmt. No option at bank to report on statement as one total balance.
Xero has processed creditor batch as a total and it is now in Xero bank recn awaiting payments and reconciliation.
Matching does not occur because individual payments on bank stmt and total are not recognised. Therefore auto-recn does not work.
Current Work around is in Xero Bank Recn "Remove and Redo" to remove the batch. This then puts the payments back into Accts Payable and in bank the payments can then be manually matched. This is time consuming and serious friction against automating processing.
Solution - When exporting Xero payment batch have tick box to choose to have payments recorded in bank recn as individual payments rather that batch total.
This matter was raised at Xero Dunedin Roadshow and recommendation was to record in this forum.
