Hi community, sometime on since my last post we wanted to provide an update for your all here and appreciate the continued attention this idea is receiving.
We want to be upfront that at this time focuses for the team are in other areas of bank reconciliation and we don't have any current plans for developing the ability to import and export bank rules from an organisation.
We understand and know this is important to everyone that has voted for the idea and will continue to review and pay close attention to the feedback and votes here. When there is more opportunity for the team to refocus efforts here we will keep you informed of any progress.

We have been asking for this since before 2017........!Shameful Xero! - you really don't listen to us anymore!
Bank Rules - Ability to import
Very keen to see this implemented and released. Any ETA on this being on the roadmap? Last official update 2017? Now currently June 2020.
An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedI do not want AI to suggest a code to me! I deliberately turn off the 'suggest previous entries' as I want to know that if a code comes up then it is because I have made a judgement to set it to do so.
I think AI should stand for 'artificial ignorance'!An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedwhoopsie do! You've given us a search facility that we could already get to using control 'f'. So no movement on this then !!

Had I been able to download the bank rules from the old company and upload them to the new it would have saved me hours of work.
When are you going to prioritise this Xero?
Enough with Apps and 'pretty things' let us have some decent functionality pleaseCarol Dufour supported this idea · -

Hi everyone, we appreciate the rationale for wanting to remove this total when running the Account Transactions report for a single account. Our team are looking into this work now and I'll swing back to share as work begins 😊
An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedIt is horribly confusing and extremely annoying!
An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedIt gets me that Xero make a stupid change to add in totals of totals that nobody wants and certainly didn't ask for and then we have to justify why we don't want them before they'll look at changing back to what did work.
What on earth is the point of totals of totals of debits and credits on balance sheet accounts when you're always looking for carried forward figures!!
Just plain nonsense and so timeconsuming to get back to where we were before they needlessly changed things!!!Carol Dufour shared this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedRestore the option to display smaller number of transactions
The old report allowed 10, 25, 50, 100 but the new report starts at 100.
You have removed the display of the closing balance on the first page so we are left with having to scroll through 100 lines to get to the bottom of the page so that we can then scroll through to the end of the report to see the closing balance. An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedPlease restore the option to display lower quantities of transactions. The old report allowed for 10, 25, 50, 100 transactions. The new report starts at 100.he balance.
The report is used to check control account balances at the month end and now you have removed the display of the closing balance on the first page we have no option but to scroll through 100 lines to get to the end of the page to then be able to scroll through to the closing balance which now only appears on the last page
Please bring back the functionality of the old report before you stop access to itCarol Dufour shared this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedgot all excited for a moment there that Xero were actually going to get round to doing something about this basic (vital) function
but no! They have merely combined the request with another one so they only have to ignore one rather than two!!
I raised it over 5 years ago - shame on you Xero!An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedstill asking - 5+ years on
An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedFacility to export customer statements to excel.
The only option at the moment is pdf or email.
We have been requesting this facility for years
Would be great to have the same facility for supplier statements tooAn error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedKelly Munro
Exporting statements to excel is an important function in an accounts department.
When performing a reconciliation from a supplier's statement (as an excel sales ledger statement would be to the customer) the easiest way to do it is to compare in excel to identify missing or incorrectly entered items.
If you only have pdf versions then you have to print the statement and manually tick and check which in this day and age is archaic!
Nearly every other report in Xero can be exported to excel yet the main one cannot which is ludicrous!
You are leaving us in the dark ages so Xero can concentrate on bells and whistles and apps for mobile devices when you'd probably find that 99% of advisors and serious bookkeepers use a PC!An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedTo my knowledge this was requested over 3 years ago as I have kept the updates - good job I did too as Xero removed all the dates so.
They obviously don't consider it important whereas anybody trying to run an accounts department or do credit control would consider it fundamentalAn error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedWe have been asking for this function for at least 5 years

Thanks for your inputs, everyone. While we appreciate the interest around being able to view MTD VAT without needing to connect to the HMRC, this is not something that our team are looking to change at present. Xero currently requires a connection to HMRC to draw the period of the MTD VAT.
We'll keep a close eye on the appetite for this here, but for now we wanted to highlight options.
Currently, a client could export the MTD return and send it through to their advisor for review.
Alternatively, advisors can use the Non MTD VAT return to help them with the review process - This can be run and exported regardless of MTD credentials.- The return should be a mirror image of the MTD VAT return (unless adjustments / imports have been made to the MTD version) that'll also include any late claims for the period.
An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commentedThe VAT return is always reviewed prior to submission and the data is being extracted from Xero rather than HMRC - to not have access to running the VAT return is nonsense when you are not ready to submit anyway.
Yes you can run a report by period but this does not pick up any late entries from previous quarters that have not been included on a VAT return.
Surely a tick box to say 'connect' to HMRC would work. As I understand it Xero is only pulling the VAT periods from HMRC when the connection is made and these are already set up in Xero anyway.Carol Dufour supported this idea ·
I asked for this Tue, 21 Nov 2017!
Xero have kindly deleted all dates so you can't see how long they have been procrastinating!
Now, 7 years later, they kindly update us that they're still not going to do anything
Good ol' Xero
Nowadays a waste of space!
