got all excited for a moment there that Xero were actually going to get round to doing something about this basic (vital) function
but no! They have merely combined the request with another one so they only have to ignore one rather than two!!
I raised it over 5 years ago - shame on you Xero!An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commented

Facility to export customer statements to excel.
The only option at the moment is pdf or email.
We have been requesting this facility for years
Would be great to have the same facility for supplier statements tooAn error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commented

Exporting statements to excel is an important function in an accounts department.
When performing a reconciliation from a supplier's statement (as an excel sales ledger statement would be to the customer) the easiest way to do it is to compare in excel to identify missing or incorrectly entered items.
If you only have pdf versions then you have to print the statement and manually tick and check which in this day and age is archaic!
Nearly every other report in Xero can be exported to excel yet the main one cannot which is ludicrous!
You are leaving us in the dark ages so Xero can concentrate on bells and whistles and apps for mobile devices when you'd probably find that 99% of advisors and serious bookkeepers use a PC!An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commented
To my knowledge this was requested over 3 years ago as I have kept the updates - good job I did too as Xero removed all the dates so.
They obviously don't consider it important whereas anybody trying to run an accounts department or do credit control would consider it fundamentalAn error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commented
We have been asking for this function for at least 5 years

Sorry to hear you don't like this feature, Richard. We've heard from others that this helps them get a better picture of what their invoices will look like when sending to a customer and enables them to make changes on the fly without having to preview or send a copy to themselves first.
Appreciate it might not be everyone's cup of tea and while we don't have any plans for removing this atm, we'll get a sense of the interest through the idea here.

Is the attachment going with the invoice? This is really important to me to know this - now it is not visible because half the screen is taken up with the invoice that I just looked at and approved.
I now have to scroll done EVERY time to check if the attachment is going to accompany the invoice
Thanks again Xero for adding even more time to do a task that worked fine before you 'improved' it!!Carol Dufour supported this idea ·

When I send an invoice in the new invoicing I'd like to be able to turn off the additional steps you've added when sending.
I don't need to see a pop up of my template letter and the invoice again, after I've just checked it and want to send it.
These seem unnecessary steps for me, so I'd like to be able to turn the feature off.
I thought we were getting extra customisation and choice - all that seems to happen is that you foist unwanted changes on us. Make it optional - it shouldn't be rocket science! -

Hi community, sometime on since my last post we wanted to provide an update for your all here and appreciate the continued attention this idea is receiving.
We want to be upfront that at this time focuses for the team are in other areas of bank reconciliation and we don't have any current plans for developing the ability to import and export bank rules from an organisation.
We understand and know this is important to everyone that has voted for the idea and will continue to review and pay close attention to the feedback and votes here. When there is more opportunity for the team to refocus efforts here we will keep you informed of any progress.

I asked for this Tue, 21 Nov 2017!
Xero have kindly deleted all dates so you can't see how long they have been procrastinating!
Now, 7 years later, they kindly update us that they're still not going to do anythingGood ol' Xero
Nowadays a waste of space! An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commented
I save the emails when there is an update on a post I am interested in
We have been asking for this since before 2017........!Shameful Xero! - you really don't listen to us anymore!
Bank Rules - Ability to import
Very keen to see this implemented and released. Any ETA on this being on the roadmap? Last official update 2017? Now currently June 2020.

I do not want AI to suggest a code to me! I deliberately turn off the 'suggest previous entries' as I want to know that if a code comes up then it is because I have made a judgement to set it to do so.
I think AI should stand for 'artificial ignorance'!An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commented
whoopsie do! You've given us a search facility that we could already get to using control 'f'. So no movement on this then !!

Client just changed legal entity.
Had I been able to download the bank rules from the old company and upload them to the new it would have saved me hours of work.
When are you going to prioritise this Xero?
Enough with Apps and 'pretty things' let us have some decent functionality pleaseCarol Dufour supported this idea ·

Hi community, I’d like to share the new Xero Central page for new invoicing that we noted was coming.
Along with updates to individual ideas on the site here, this page will become the one source for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Remember, you can keep switching between the two products between now and September. Thanks

I wrote this to my Account Manager recently and her reply is below......
Hi Amy
I wanted to bring your attention to the growing concern from long standing Xero advisors of the deterioration in service we are finding from Xero.It was enough of a fiasco when new reports were brought out that, quite frankly, weren't fit for purpose!
The Aged Debtors report being the one that springs to mind first - The new report showed the last day of the month in the current column and then in the next column was the remainder of the month - absolute nonsense!
Xero's answer to that......raise a product request!
The next suggestion by support was to run it as at 1st of the month so you get all the month in one column.
Shows a total utter lack of understanding of accounting practice and bookkeeping. Now we are seeing the fiasco of the 'new invoicing' - I have not swapped over to it yet and have no intention of doing so as, from what I can see from other advisors, it is also not fit for purpose!
Please see below an extract from a 'product request' regarding the so called 'improvements'!
Xero have now stopped us voting on this so we have, once again, no voice!I am past retirement age now and am winding down and I had hoped to keep a few clients ticking over but if these changes are forced on us and they are not fit for purpose then I will consider swapping my remaining client base over to QBO.
I used to love Xero and would sing its praises from the rooftops but in the last 3/4 years it has deteriorated beyond recognition!
The concentration seems to be on pretty bows and whistles and making things look pretty for the occasional user who uses a mobile device and those of us that use it day in day out are being overlooked.
Every change being made now adds more clicks and time to use - it is no longer beautiful in fact it's down right ugly!I wish Xero would go back to the way it was otherwise you will find us leaving in droves!
Account Manager's Reply....
I took your concerns to our product team yesterday who have come back to me overnight, as always they're grateful for your feedback and they find it really helpful to understand what they can improve on and what areas are frustrating in Xero, as well as what you like. Brigitte in particular mentioned how helpful you were a few months ago.I'm told that we will be putting out an update on new invoicing early next week, with all the updates so far since announcement and ones planned going forward so you can see what's coming up. It will also have a video and a landing page to track updates so you can see where we're at with things, and you should see our FAQs updated soon to reflect responses to the questions that you've brought up. They're planning to go back to the petition once this work is done so they can show those concerned what we're doing about those worries and where we plan to go next to help improve your experience.
As a side note - the ability to copy the contact when copying an invoice is currently have under review and we will be keeping everyone updated when the team begin building and deliver for this change.
I hope this helps - as ever do let me know if you'd like to discuss and I'll be more than happy to talk things through.

Oh I see - now you have stopped us voting!
Is that your best Xero - gagging us!!!An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commented
We are Xero advisors and we use your product day in and day out!
We are the ones who (used to) recommend Xero to our clients
to say
'We know that learning new product features can be a challenge when you have established ways of working'
Is downright insulting!
We are NOT change resistant - we are 'loss of functionality' resistant!
You continually increase your charges whilst continually decreasing the functionality of the product!
You say that all these issues will be resolved before we are forced to swap to the inadequate new invoicing yet now you mark the post as 'not planned' !I have had enough of being told to raise a product request to get back to where we were before Xero 'improved' it.
The new Aged Debtors when it was released was not fit for purpose yet we were told that that was deliberate!
I don't know who is designing your reports but you are obviously not having (or listening) to any input from Xero advisors who use it every day!
Shameful service!!
Xero used to be so good! -

Sorry team, we'll need to take a step back from our previous update here. Though this is a feature our teams would like to pick up in the future, we're unable to focus resource on this atm. As soon as we can pick things up, I'll be back to share again.

It is horribly confusing and extremely annoying!
An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commented
It gets me that Xero make a stupid change to add in totals of totals that nobody wants and certainly didn't ask for and then we have to justify why we don't want them before they'll look at changing back to what did work.
What on earth is the point of totals of totals of debits and credits on balance sheet accounts when you're always looking for carried forward figures!!
Just plain nonsense and so timeconsuming to get back to where we were before they needlessly changed things!!!Carol Dufour shared this idea ·

Restore the option to display smaller number of transactions
The old report allowed 10, 25, 50, 100 but the new report starts at 100.
You have removed the display of the closing balance on the first page so we are left with having to scroll through 100 lines to get to the bottom of the page so that we can then scroll through to the end of the report to see the closing balance. An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commented
Please restore the option to display lower quantities of transactions. The old report allowed for 10, 25, 50, 100 transactions. The new report starts at 100.he balance.
The report is used to check control account balances at the month end and now you have removed the display of the closing balance on the first page we have no option but to scroll through 100 lines to get to the end of the page to then be able to scroll through to the closing balance which now only appears on the last page
Please bring back the functionality of the old report before you stop access to itCarol Dufour shared this idea ·

Hi team, we appreciate your engagement in the idea here however we want to be open that we don't have any plans for developing repeat spend or receive money transactions atm.
If you have the suggest previous entries option turned on in your bank account, you may find that overtime Xero suggests create transactions based on your previous reconciliations.
Alternatively, you could look to create bank rules for these scenarios where Xero will pick up commonalities in your rules to your statement lines and help with reconciliations.

Thanks for your inputs, everyone. While we appreciate the interest around being able to view MTD VAT without needing to connect to the HMRC, this is not something that our team are looking to change at present. Xero currently requires a connection to HMRC to draw the period of the MTD VAT.
We'll keep a close eye on the appetite for this here, but for now we wanted to highlight options.
Currently, a client could export the MTD return and send it through to their advisor for review.
Alternatively, advisors can use the Non MTD VAT return to help them with the review process - This can be run and exported regardless of MTD credentials.- The return should be a mirror image of the MTD VAT return (unless adjustments / imports have been made to the MTD version) that'll also include any late claims for the period.
An error occurred while saving the comment Carol Dufour commented
The VAT return is always reviewed prior to submission and the data is being extracted from Xero rather than HMRC - to not have access to running the VAT return is nonsense when you are not ready to submit anyway.
Yes you can run a report by period but this does not pick up any late entries from previous quarters that have not been included on a VAT return.
Surely a tick box to say 'connect' to HMRC would work. As I understand it Xero is only pulling the VAT periods from HMRC when the connection is made and these are already set up in Xero anyway.Carol Dufour supported this idea ·
pretty poor show from Xero - but that's what we have come to expect!
I raised it back in 2022 but I originally raised it prior to 2019 - Xero just dumped the dates in 2022!
Have given up waiting for Xero to help like they used to!
T'aint pretty no more!
