@ David Champ. We have a similar workaround and it's the best we're going to get from the Xero system as the developers are completely ignoring these threads.

So frustrating David. Very disappointed that basic things are not available in Xero and they do not seem to care to develop these with any sense of urgency!

Critical for our many school clients to send / print statements by grade / class groups. Did not know such a simple thing is not possible in Xero and Xero is never interested to quickly develop a solution. In fact Xero seems to ignore these ideas pages altogether !

Some suggestions (critical in nature) have been ignored since 2014!

Hi everyone, we appreciate all your feedback on how we could evolve roles for customers using Xero. As you can see through the ideas on the platform, there are a wide range of combinations of permissions our customers want to see us build. As user roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.
We’re beginning to conduct research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. Front footing this, the discovery of this work will be long winded and there will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews…

Exactly my problem Cheryl! So frustrating. And the user roles don't make sense, for example the debtors clerk has no access to the accounts receivable reports. I wish they can tackle this issue with the urgency it deserves.

Come on Xero, some of your access levels does not make sense.

For example, I have a client that has a junior finance person with invoice-only access who processes invoices and in some instances takes cash from customers, process the cash payment and must issue a receipt to the customers. But unfortunately the same person who processed the receipt cannot print it! Unfathomable!

Come on Xero, your whole access needs re-looking at with a wide variety of options where the administrator can tick what a person has access to NOT pre-designed and fixed by Xero. It's just not working.

The watchlist is a good idea for the dashboard but can potentially be more useful as it ends up looking a bit messy.

I have a similar idea to the grouping idea proposed.

Currently when you add accounts to the watchlist, they fall into alphabetical order and you cannot re-arrange it in any way to make more sense for your own particular circumstances.

I have cases, for example with public schools clients, where an income item and expense item might be related but they fall in very different spots far from each other on the watchlist and so loses it's impact and usefulness.

What I propose are two things :

    1. Have the ability to group two or more related income and expense accounts together on the Watchlist (e.g. Income - Fundraising and Fundraising Expenses)

    2. Have the ability to link the two or more related items together so that it can give a result showing a surplus/deficit (or profit / loss).

Please see attached example I created which illustrates what it should look like.

Also, there could be two sections to the Accounts Watchlist, one being Profit and Loss section and the other Balance Sheet section, which will make things much clearer for users, especially non-financial view only users (like a school governing body chairperson).

Hope this suggestion finds support out there :)

We need to have a feature where one can do journals between contacts (debtors and debtors, creditors and creditors and between debtors and creditors) and also between said contacts and the general ledger as sometimes temporary entries are needed that will be reversed a while later. This can be assigned to a higher access level users and not all users. Thanks
