    Hey team, thanks for all your input on partial asset disposal.

    We understand that manually managing parts of an asset can be time-consuming. While we don't have plans at this time to develop a built-in feature, your feedback's really helpful in showing us where things could improve.

    For now, manual methods to calculate depreciation and record journal entries to keep things accurate would be the best option.

    However, this is a feature that we'd like to revisit as we plan our future roadmaps, and will be happy to share if there is any traction around this. Please keep sharing this idea with any colleagues you feel could benefit from this too.

    Hi Xero, when do you expect this to be updated? "future roadmaps" could be another 5+ years away... this is supposed to be accounting software, not very efficient accounting software when you have to tell accountants to manually calculate depreciation and good luck... - what a joke.

    Hi community, thanks so much for the great feedback so far. The changes to Tier 3 reporting standards - especially around grant categorisation are clearly important, and it’s great to see this idea gaining momentum quickly.

    This request is now in the Gaining Support stage, so it’s on our radar for further consideration. If you’re using Tier 3 reporting, we’d love to hear more about what specific features or improvements would help you most. Your input really helps guide the product team’s priorities.

    I don't understand why this hasn't already been done, please can you elaborate. Are you confirming that Xero, a global software provider with a lot of clients in NZ demographics haven't updated this as part of the new charity standards?

    Wasn't this available at least 12 months ago to be considered as part of the changes, given these new standards are live from April 2025 when are Xero going to make these able to be templated?

    Please can you provide a date as i would have thought any changes to standards would have impacted reports and backend report codes so we can streamline this for our clients.

    We would have thought this would be a simple change to add in new reporting codes and slot these into the assigned areas, not have to muck around at a client level.

    Hey everyone, thanks for all your valuable feedback and support on this idea here.

    It's nice to see tips being shared throughout this thread to help others managing multiple assets. The suggestion to group similar items (like office chairs or laptops) into a single asset with a quantity can be an efficient way to handle things. When you need to dispose of some, you can then perform a partial disposal by updating the quantity, which helps save a few steps.

    Wanting to share an update for you all, although I appreciate it will not be the news hoped for - Developing the capability to bulk dispose assets isn't on our current roadmap. We will keep an active eye on the support this continue to build here and be sure to let you know if anything changes here.

    10 years on, and comments visible back for at least 3 years. I wouldn't hold my breath on this. Bring on more UI changes!

    Hi community, thanks for your responses to our update and the continued interest this idea receives. We're keeping a watchful eye on the support this idea gathers.

    As mentioned in my last update our immediate focus for now is delivering more automation and intelligent tools to help you reconcile faster.

    However, we understand and appreciate the pain points shared through this idea and will move the status of this to Accepted as our product team look into more details around this and how we might plan this into the roadmap.

    I'll keep you updated of any developments in this space.

    As always disappointed (but not unexpected) by Xero's lack of functionality on such an important day to day function. They should of had this working from day 1 to be frank. Wish we had more support from Xero on key accounting needs.

    Thanks Ann, great feedback! i have waited 3-4 years for any action on this personally. they are more interested in changing their plans and kicking people out of payroll for cash grab then helping with efficiencies. Given the amount of clients and users actually using Xero now its a complete waste of time setting this up for each new client and file... yet Xero have no urgency on these time saving ideas.. it is a great shame and will put some clients off using Xero the more they delay with these.

    Xero are still very manual in a lot of their processes, even bulk asset disposals are still not enabled and don't get me started on reporting bugs.

    15/07/2022 - Why is this not a feature? core accounting software like Banklink offer memorizations and you can setup firm wide master ones to apply to all clients. At least let us do a template or import/export feature. There must be a way to do an import and if we have to spend time to direct to a certain COA better then starting from scratch. Alot of time wastage in Xero having to duplicate information. We have for commercial purposes a business owner running 4 businesses exactly the same.. but we need to spend 4x time to duplicate bank rules and other reports etc. As Xero is getting bigger need to think of efficiency optimizations, we still cant bulk sell out 200 assets etc so there is core time wastage that Xero can and needs to address..

    Good luck!!!... getting this idea put in, 10 years on. you have to use alot of workarounds to use Xero, setting up a transfer code is one of them... sadly. Not the best for audit trail purposes but time saver.

    Xero needs to up their game, not a very efficient system. Soo many functional and efficient design flaws. Yet their product updates keep changing UI of reports rather then address these.

    Dec 2022 - I'm honestly surprised this still isn't a feature, i would have thought this was a core automation and coding critical feature. But much like the rest of the ignored features it doesn't surprise me this isn't done as well which is unfortunate. Given this was an idea raised 8 years ago i give this little hope.

    I asked about this feature and bulk disposal of assets 2-3 years back, same ****, no care given for optimisation. just new sparkly features. Even worse the idea was raised back in Aug 2015... what chance do we have guys...

    Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback here. It’s great to see so much engagement on this idea, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

    We understand you’re looking for the ability to create your own report code structures within Xero that'd allow for more detailed and flexible reporting, helping to automate processes and provide clearer insights for your clients.

    As noted by others in the idea, you can currently leverage the existing report code mapping functionality. While it doesn't allow for entirely new report codes, you can map multiple chart of account codes to the same report codes to group them for reporting. 

    To do this in bulk, you can also export your chart of accounts, apply the mapping in a CSV, and then re-import it

    We see the value in providing more customisation in reporting. Right now we have some more codes…

    We would like more report user defined expense report mapping rather then just stopping at 5, it cant be that hard to just add say 10 more for better customisation options, you either will or wont use them but atleast theres a choice to expand...
