An error occurred while saving the comment Gina Chapman commentedAlso the ability to filter by tracking category - get the labour costs for a particular employee for a given tracking category etc. The fact it's available elsewhere just adds to the frustration.

Thanks for all your input and sharing how we can improve Xero's user roles to cater for the needs of your business and staff you'd like to provide this access for.
As you may have seen in other ideas we've been conducting some research into user roles across all of Xero. As a step on from this, one of our teams are beginning a deeper dive into solving this idea here and enabling more roles access to Products & services (Inventory) in Xero.
While this may take sometime to accomplish we wanted to provide an update to you all interested in this, and we'll keep you informed of further progress as the team begin looking into it.
An error occurred while saving the comment Gina Chapman commentedWe are moving to MYOB Advanced ERP. We have waited long enough and the inventory functionality and user permissions in Xero (as well as timesheet reporting/payroll) is so below even basic expectations of an accounting software.
Sad, because I had always been a Xero supporter. Forget beautiful, maybe try functional for a while...
Gina Chapman supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Gina Chapman commentedI agree - I can't understand the logic behind the blanket user permissions. Bank accounts etc should be it's own separate tick box!
Inventory & inventory reports should be separated out - why should you need full access to deal with inventory?!

We thank you all for sharing in the idea here, and understand there are many permissions that our Xero customers would like to provide on a more incremental basis. As you'll all know access to bank accounts is available to users with Adviser, Standard or limited access to those with Read Only roles - You can see more of the breakdown in our article here
With much of the teams resource drawn to work on the platform that'll continue to help us with the 'building on beautiful' experience for our customers we want to be upfront that there are no direct plans for altering the user permissions in this space just yet.
User roles and individual permissions within a bank account will be in the limelight once much of the platform upgrades are complete, but this is some way off atm. We'll return to share when there's any…
An error occurred while saving the comment Gina Chapman commentedThere needs to be far more (and mutli-level permissions options). Your one-size fits-all is just bad system design. You need to rectify it.
An error occurred while saving the comment Gina Chapman commentedIt's absurd how basic the permissions are. Come on Xero.

An error occurred while saving the comment Gina Chapman commentedOr just include this amount in the current GST reconciliation report
An error occurred while saving the comment Gina Chapman commentedA GST late claims report - for reconciling year end GST. Showing how many late claims have been claimed for a period after the period was finalized - e.g. the amount of the GST balance as at 31 March that are late claims. Would make the GST reconciliation a lot easier.

An error occurred while saving the comment Gina Chapman commentedAgreed - user roles can be very granular - this blanket approach is extremely problematic. It should be a tick box function at a far more granular level.
Timesheet/payroll reporting & tracking in payroll & inventory & permissions - sort these basics please Xero - it's getting ridiculous! Small businesses also need these functions.
