Hi everyone, we appreciate and want to thank everyone for feedback on the responsiveness of the new Homepage. This has been shared back with our product teams as they continue to develop this experience.

At this stage, there are no plans to fix the number of columns when using the Homepage. However, our team will continue to monitor usage on this closely.

One recent change we’ve introduced is that the Homepage layout can be saved at each screen size.

For example, if you set up and save the Homepage layout for your laptop and then move to a larger monitor you’ll see this adapt. However, if you ‘edit’ the Homepage and save the layout separately from your monitor Xero will remember the layout for each screen size. You should only need to do this once for each screen you use.

We’re looking at enhancing the edit layout experience soon to…

The new layout is really confusing because the widgets move when the screen changes size so unless you always have Xero full screen they are never where I expect them to be. I don't need to be hunting for widgets on my Home Screen.

Please can you make it possible for me to anchor some wedges to the left hand side of my screen so they always appear in a column on the left margin. I want my bank accounts to appear in a column on the left, and then the other widgets can flow around if you wish in any space to the right or below. At the moment it is stressful to use.

Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.

Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:

    • what’s available in new invoicing right now,
    • timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
    • a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.

We'll be updating this page regularly.

Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

Thank you for the update page detailing everything. It is helpful. Two thoughts:

1/ It looks like you have key features that may not be coming until sometime in September, after your current proposed date for closing down the existing invoicing page. Why not delay shutdown of the currently working system that your customers bought in to until after all the features listed have been completed?

2/ It does not address the user interface which in my opinion is the root of the dissatisfaction. If your team cannot see how awful it is to use and don't believe your customers please can you get an external designer to look at it.

The UI for new invoicing is terrible - it looks like a previous version from which "classic invoicing" was developed, and it's harder to use, and hard to understand.

Please put back all the UI elements and clarity that made Xero popular in the early days - when it was sold as "beautiful accounting software".

Firstly there are two different invoice layouts: one for editing, and one for viewing. That's just confusing, wasn't the case before and should not be necessary.

In the edit invoice layout there are wide, empty columns requiring side to side scrolling to fit everything in. For example the price column is so wide it could fit a trillion dollar number, and the column heading doesn't align the same way as the data. The item column is huge, but not everyone uses this. And cell contents don't word-wrap in my columns.

And in the display invoice layout tax codes and both tracking categories are shown on a different line to the one they apply to.

And when I go from one layout to the other everything moves, and I have to try and connect what I am seeing now to what I was seeing a moment ago.

It's just a mess, and hurts my brain every time.

I understand that you are trying to apply best practice web guidelines for accessibility reasons, but they are designed for normal webpages, not for accounting apps. Does Google Sheets require huge whitespace everywhere, or does it look similar to a native app like Excel? Accessibility is important, but not at the expense of usability. It should be possible to have both, even if you have to support two ways of showing the data, rather than just two style sheets like in the bank rec layout.

Hi team, we'd like to share another update as work for allowing direct wage payments via open banking with Crezco is well underway.

We look forward to updating everyone on this idea as soon as this is released.

As previously mentioned - we want to be upfront that we don't have any plans for extending the payment file export format to CSV, however direct payments will eliminate the need for a manual export saving you a few steps in this process. 🙂

Please can you respond to us on this Xero?

So far we know that Xero Payroll's current batch payment file doesn't work on:

    Santander
    RBS
    Barclays.net
    Metrobank
    Revolut Business
    Danske Bank

The Xero bill payments file is not much better but is a CSV so it is easily manipulated.

The best solution would be for Xero to know the bank requirements, and for the user to select the bank it is required for when they download.

But for now, knowing if any progress can be expected would be a good start.

Yes yes yes!! Every month I have to retype all the payment amounts. What I need is the bank payment file download options from the main part of Xero to be available in the payroll section.

Thanks for submitting your idea for setting an original balance which reduces as employees make payments via statutory deductions.

To help your idea gain traction, please share it with colleagues so they can vote for it too. The comments section is also open for all members to share how this feature would improve their Xero experience.

Hi team, wanting to provide an update to you here, we want you to know we understand the efficiency more users would like to have in being able to automate the creation of the Xero subscription invoice inside their Xero org.

To highlight from my last update for UK users this is possible with eInvoicing through the online invoice (My Bills page).

This is still something we're interested in developing in more regions however isn't planned in our roadmap just yet.

When resource opens up for us to be able to pick this work up we will share an update with you all on this here. Thanks for staying engaged and supporting in this idea.

Just emailing a PDF would be a good start! And giving me the option of choosing the email(s) it goes to, so I can cc my draft bills email address, Hubdoc or Datamolino.

You can re-order the columns of your report with the layout editor, Robbie. 🙂

Once you've got the report set up as you like you can Save as Custom to easily access the report with this layout.

If you're like to make this the default layout there is also an option for this - see our help here & here

Hi @kelly, dragging all 12 columns to a new order in the layout editor is a pain, and then you lose the ability to change some of the other settings for a report. It's especially annoying when trying to create a reusable report pack a small group of reports can quickly be refreshed with up-to-date data. Robbie's idea is a good one: so many time based reports in Xero are counterintuitive, at least for non accountants.
