    Hey everyone, thanks again for your support in this idea. We've made more moves in this space with work now underway to make a change to how report fields work.

    We'll be making these non editable within a report once a Report field's been added and run on a report at the client level, so they maintain their auto updating capabilities.

    I'll be back again to let you know when this rolls out next year!

    We are very surprised that all the date field codes have become static in the notes to the financial statements due to editing layout. This is causing a lot of problems, as most of our financial we have had to edit layout to tailor the client accounts to hide irrelevant accounting policy notes as Xero does not do that automatically and when the switch/flip on the account doesn't work automatically in the notes as it does in the balance sheet. As a result this is now causing a problem in a lot of reports that we now have to manually update. I think it would be ideal if you could insert field at the client report level. I'm not sure why it can only be done at the report template level. We would really appreciate if you fix this. The preparation of financial report is very manual and inefficient due to features such as this.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on adding employee numbers to employee records.

    Currently Xero uses unique identifiers for employees which are included in STP files sent to the ATO, however there’s currently no ability to add employee numbers to employment records.

    After reviewing with our product team, this feature isn't currently on our roadmap so we'll update the status to 'Not in Pipeline'. As an alternative, payroll admins can use the Notes section or adapt an existing field in the employees record to assist with identifying employees.

    Whilst we understand this may not be the outcome you’d hoped for, we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with feedback to help shape Xero.
