Hi community, a year on from our last update we understanding wanting to know where this idea is now sitting.
While being able to copy to a bill from within an invoice is still on our product teams radar, with existing capability still available from invoice lists and many opportunities and factors for the team to consider when planning this isn't something we have roadmapped as yet.
Just to re-share from my last update, from the Invoices Draft, Awaiting Approval, Awaiting Payment or Paid lists you can select an invoice and click the Copy to... option in the header to Copy the invoice to a new Bill.
Totally appreciate for some here, having a direct option within an invoice would better suit your workflow and I'll make sure to share if there's any progress, here. Thanks

Hey community, we get the vying interest in this and how having a copy of the invoice sent within Xero would help when following up with debtors, or in disputes.
As many of you have pointed out, the best option that exists within Xero for now is to use the 'send me a copy' checkbox. This gives you a solid record in your own email inbox to fall back on. While it takes a little setting up you could create a filter in your email inbox to route these to a specific folder for reference.
Another smart tip as shared here could be setting up a dedicated email address to file these automatically, and keep things organised.
Though not a solve for the body of the email that's being asked here, a change that we recently made for invoices is that all sent invoices will include the primary To: email address…

Hi everyone, thank you for continuing to share your feedback on invoice subtotals.
We know this is a feature many of you feel strongly about, and we genuinely appreciate the time you’ve taken to explain the impact on your workflows.
While this idea has been closely considered by our product teams we want to be upfront that at this point we don't have any foreseeable plans for developing the ability to add subtotals in invoices.
As previously shared current options that you may want to explore include;
- adding a description only line for each section where you can reference and explain the subtotals for a section of lines (leaving the Qty & Price blank),
- exporting the invoice as a PDF and editing it externally, or
- exploring invoicing tools in the Xero App Store that offer more extensive services

Hi Sarah, I raised a case with Xero about this issue. They claim the functionality is "working as intended".
They responded with the following:
"Looking through the screenshots and details you provided, I tested the Global Search function in your organisation, as well as in my testing file and I can see that the search results are providing unexpected results.
Looking into this further, I can see that this has been raised with our Product team, and they have confirmed that this feature has recently changed. The new interface and AI that is being used in this feature is trying to pick up the most likely transaction you are looking for, however we have found that the search results don't always look as expected.
We apologies for the inconvenience, however they are reporting that this feature is working as intended.
Understanding that feedback around this functionality is key to gain deeper insight into how customers expect the search bar to work, we can see that this has already been raised with us in our Xero Product Ideas. Xero Product Ideas is a Xero website where our customers can share and support ideas for change.
We recommend leaving your additional feedback about the search function on the Xero Product Idea link I’ve included below."
I sent them the below response this morning:
"I don't understand how the results can be "as intended". You yourself said the results are unexpected. Is the intention to show the oldest results? Why would I want to see transactions from 2016, or an invoice from 2019? I cannot imagine anyone wants this. Users want to see the latest invoice, transaction or bill, not something from 7 years ago. I cannot even see the Customer from the result - surely this is one of the most common reasons for a search? Your AI clearly is not working properly. The "Product Idea" that you are pushing me towards in from 2022, and has only 12 votes. This will never happen. How about you fix the search rather than suggesting this should be a *new* idea. Here's an idea - provide a search function that works properly."
I'm not expecting anything will come of this, but I am so annoyed at their attitude towards their customers - they really don't seem to care that they have broken something that was working fine.
