    Hi community, thank you for your engagement and sharing how you'd like us to evolve roles for customers using Xero. User roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs - As you can see there is a large range of ideas for different roles shared by customers in Product Ideas.
    We’re conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. To be upfront, the discovery of this work will be long running and there'll be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.

    it would be great if this could be possible, when we have a new member of staff, assigning them too 200 projects is very time consuming!!

    having groups and assigning the groups to projects would be a lot easier and simpler.

    Thanks for your detailed feature request to introduce task categories and sub-tasks in Xero Projects.

    We’ve reviewed your submission and have now moved it to the Gaining Support stage.

    This means the idea is live on the forum for other members of the Xero community to add their votes and comments. Our team keeps an eye on the ideas in this stage and uses the number of votes and the shared use cases to gauge demand for new features.

    We appreciate the feedback and interest in being able to set different levels of approval across different transaction types in Xero atm. Currently the draft permission will enable a user to create draft transactions in an org with out the ability to approve, while the Sales Invoice Only role will enable a user to create and approve invoices or quotes without access to purchases, and similarly the Invoice Only Purchases role will allow a user to create and approve Purchase transactions without access to Sales.

    To better understand the ask in this idea can you share exactly the type of set up you would be looking to achieve to help with entering information in your organisation.

    Thanks for sharing this idea, we appreciate wanting to enable staff to keep working when your internet's down.


    If we were to work on a change like this, we'd have to consider the implications this could have if multiple people worked on the same items while they were offline, and how this data would sync when they reconnected to the internet.

    Hey Rebecca, thanks for your engagement and for sharing this detailed suggestion about user permissions in Xero Projects.

    We've reviewed your idea to allow users to view project profitability without needing the full admin user role, and it can now gain support from other community members. We understand the need for team members to keep track of a project's performance, and why granting full admin access isn't always suitable.

    To make groups for projects. i am currently assigning people to projects however, we have a lot of projects and i am assigning 10 people per project and it is taking me a long time. Being able to make a group of employees and then just assigning this group to the project would be a lot quicker and easier. Also when new employees start it would be easier to add them to the group and it automatically updating the projects, rather then individually adding people onto every project.
