  1. Number of fields for projects is really poor, I need a tracking category added to projects so for example we can have four different types of projects which I want to categorise in the initial project set up. When costs and revenue are then allocated to this project it's also automatically allocated to the tracking category associated. At the moment I'm having to manually allocate to every transaction. Would be made easier if like sage they had a copy above function but we don't even have that either, so clicky!

  2. Add a more detailed bank transaction report.
    It would be nice to generate a bank report that allows you to see the accounts booked in details. For example, if one transaction has multiple accounts, I can see what accounts where used and what amount. this would make it a lot easier to look over and control if you made some mistakes or did not included bank fees in the transaction.

  3. So we send a W9 request and a vendor completes it, great. But this doesn't create a digital W9 form, it just modifies the information in the vendor's 1099 contact page. So if an auditor requests a copy of a vendor's W9, we have nothing to give them. And it's possible to override the changes made by the W9 submission, so there's no way to verify - say a year later - that the information on their contact page aligns with the W9 information they submitted.     Hi there

    While we don’t create an exact replica of the form we’ve worked closely with our compliance team to make sure that if you are audited we can supply the information needed. We also cater for the event of W-9 information being overridden and needing W-9’s from previous years.

    In terms of getting the information for an audit - while we don’t offer a self service option at the moment - if you need it you can submit a request to our support team and we’ll provide what you need for an audit 😊

  4. Account Transactions Report

    It doesn't make sense that you can separately select the 'Contact' column and the 'Description' column, but that the 'Contact' details show in the 'Description' column.

    It feels like the 'Description' column in the Account Transactions report is wrongly pointing to the 'Contact' data!

    If the 'Description' detail is not available in the Account Transactions report, this column should be withdrawn from the options available for selection.

    It would be great to get this issue fixed.

    Thank you for your engagement on this idea. To help explain a little on how this works in the Account Transactions(AT) report - what shows in the Description field when running the report is dependent on the type of account you're running the report for.

    For example, when running the AT report for a bank account, transactions will show the Contact name in the Description field. This is because the detail that is entered on each description line in the body of a transaction relates to the account the line item is coded to. 

    To see the detail, you'll need to run the report for the account code, not the bank account. This is also how the report works for some other accounts such as the system sales tax account, Account Receivable, and Accounts Payable.

  5. Please create all excel exports from Xero in the currrent .xlsx format. Most still produce an old xls.file format (for instance Sales Tax Report) and need to be resaved to bring up to date.

On the P & L reports, there quite often extra lines at the bottom which aren't required this yr, but may be next year. which we don't need ie: Net loss/ profit before beneficiary dist , nor do we need before tax etc as a loss, just need the bottom line ( net Profit /Loss). Companies also have the same issue. Is there a way to "hide" these lines? if not , can we add this as a suggestion please. Don't want to delete, just hide or disable as necessary

  8. Given there is an option to 'Export Accounting Data' in 'General Ledger format', why is there no corresponding facility to Import in 'General Ledger Format '? I have a client with many problem transactions locked by accountants. The solution is to start again with a copy of the accounts, which involves splitting the exported data into several different import templates.

    Appreciate wanting to make the process of setting up a new Xero org, especially in the scenario you've mentioned as simple as possible, Kevan.

    While this may be something we look at longer term I want to be open that we don't have any plans for a single import across all areas of Xero right now.

    There are third party app partners available through our Xero app store that you may like to engage if you'd like help in this migration and set up process.

    We'll keep getting a sense of community interest from your idea here and share if there are any updates planned.

  9. I would love the ability to view the Journal entry created by each transaction, from the transaction itself (without having to leave the transaction to pull a journal report). QBO has this option and I find it very useful.

  10. Just brought on a new client on Xero that runs large number of projects. At the moment, Xero does not provide a facility whereby we can bring forward opening blalances for ongoing projects.

  11. The ability to mark any/all invoices as sent - even if using the copy/share function to send invoices to clients.

    Not all invoices are sent via email. A tick/flick box to mark off any invoices that have actually been sent via the copy/share function would be handy. There could also be another box that would act as a reminder to follow up after 'X' amount of days if the invoice remained outstanding, in the same sort of format that follow-up emails are automatically sent for payment reminder.

  12. Can the bill or invoice number be added to the description shown when Xero automatically adds it to the short term cash flow. See picture for item added manually where we add the bill number and then item added by Xero where none is shown. This will really help where we have multiple items for the same customer/supplier for the same amount.

  13. export graph of bank account - the image of a decreasing bank balance in the form of a graph over a period of up to 6 months is very telling, please could the image already available be accessible as a download so this can be shared with business owners

  14. Currently when you are viewing the GST Audit Report , you can select an item to view in more detail. When you back arrow to return to the GST Audit Report, Xero takes you back to the first item on page 1, not at the position where you left the Audit Report . It would be beneficial to the user, and would save a lot of time scrolling, if Xero returned the user to the position where they left the report.

  17. On the Xero mobile app, it would be great to be able to search Products & Services. If a customer wants a price on an inventory item, I have to create an invoice or quote, then add an item to see a price. A Product & Services link off the Dashboard would be very helpful.

  20. Thank you for the 'Today - tomorrow' options in date selections but we would really benefit, and use regularly, a 'Yesterday' option given we often Invoice customers 'after' they have collected goods etc.
