Invoicing - See gross profit
When a sales invoice is created, there should be a place where i can see what is the gross profit. If not, I would have to go back and forth between the inventory module and the sales invoice module to maunally calculate.
1 voteHi team, as previously shared you can run the Receivable Invoice Summary or Details reports where you can select to include a Gross column.

New invoicing - Send einvoice
The new invoicing will not allow e-invoicing without an ABN attached which defeats the purpose . Bring back the classic invoicing.
2 votesHi team, returning to switch this idea across to delivered. While Xero does require a customer to be registered and have an ABN. EInvoicing is available within new invoicing. You can find more information on this here.

New Invoicing - Receive payment for an invoice before sending it
Immediately after creating an invoice, you approve it, then a series of boxes appears at the bottom of the screen allowing you to receive the payment. Once payment is applied you can send the receipt to the customer. This is ESSENTIAL for accepting cash payments or any payment made at the time of delivery but before sending the invoice. Please add this feature from OLD invoicing to New invoicing.
3 votesHi Fiona, it's not necessary to send an invoice before adding a payment. Once an invoice is created in new invoicing the default option is 'approve and send' but 'approve' can be selected instead. A payment can then be added and receipt sent, with a similar workflow to classic invoicing.
Atm there's no way to set the default approve option for an invoice. However, this has been raised as an idea across here if you'd like to add your vote. 🙂

Credit Note
Classic invoicing feature missing from new invoicing format
Some of our clients like to prepay so there are often credits to use. Upon approving an invoice, the classic used to say there was a credit available on that contact, click here to use it. There is no such feature on the new invoicing to indicate there is a credit available you have to go and manually check. As well as not informing you of an available credit, if you look at the new approved invoice there is no way apply an existing credit (only to create and apply a new…
1 voteHi Claire, when you approve an invoice for a customer that has available credit, you'll receive a prompt. If you choose to 'Skip for now', you should see an option to 'Apply credit' on the approved invoice. I've attached a screenshot of these in new invoicing.
If you're not seeing either of these options, I'd suggest double checking the name of the contact the credit note has been created for, and raising a case with our specialists at support to take a deeper look into things with you.

New invoicing - Exclude customer information
Please allow a customers unique name and number pasted into the "to" box, be the only customer information required to continue filling out the invoice.
My continued use of Xero depends on this action to stay as it is.
Some users will not want to use Xero invoicing other than to use it as a debtors ledger and GST etc manager.
In our case, we paste the name and number in the TO field, the only " item " we sell is one invoice worth our invoice total. The invoice number and reference holds our real invoice number.
It is…1 voteHi everyone, to confirm for anyone coming across the idea here. In new invoicing the contact card will open so you can add more details of a new contact. However, the name is the only field required, so you can simply enter the name and then click Save to continue on. 🙂

Invoice template defaults per Customer
It would be great to have an invoice template default set up per Customer in their Contact settings.
2 votesHey Kyle 👋 this is already possible. You should see the option when editing a contact under the Sales defaults 😊

New Invoicing - Time stamp in History & Notes
In the classic invoicing history, we can see the date and timestamp, this is not available in the new invoicing - see attached screenshots.
We use this time stamp a lot for trouble shooting - like what time or XPM and what time was the invoice approved. This helps if there is an integration problem or double up, or payment query.
78 votesWell that was quick! 😉 It turns out along with an entry when an invoice is sent, our product team also managed to release time stamps 🎉
In history & notes of new invoicing, next to the date you'll now see a time stamp of when an entry occurred. Thank you all who voted and shared with us on the idea, here.

Payroll Activity Details (AU) - Date column to be added back
There has always been a date column - add it back - why mess with something that has been used for so many years. Absolutely so desruptive to our professional services.
1 voteHiya Simona, sorry for not updating you on this sooner.
Shortly after the release of the new report our team made a change based on feedback, so the report now shows Employee name and Date as separate columns, and the columns will be included when running the report by default.

Bills to pay - Highlight bills that have been selected
Bring back highlighting of selected bills
16 votesHi everyone, highlighting in the bills list view is now available 😊
Now, when you select bills these'll be highlighted on the screen. Thanks for voting and sharing how we can improve Xero for you.

Bills - Provide a 'Skip to Next' function when reviewing Bills to Pay
In the same way that we have 'Approve & View Next' for invoices in the draft and awaiting approval sections, it would be useful to have a 'Skip to Next' function in the event that you are missing information or unable to approve at that time. This would certainly save several clicks and make the process more fluid.
3 votesHi team! Our new quick view feature in bills allows you to simply view your bill and it's details without having to leave the list view.
Move from one bill to the next using the arrow options and once you've reviewed make bulk actions by selecting multiple bills and using the list bulk action options like Batch pay, Approve, Add planned date, Print or Void 🥳

Bills - Add a Note
In the Bills approved and awaiting to be paid - it would be good to have a field for notes. There may be a reason why the bill is being held or delayed and a note section here for additional information would make it easier for all involved to understand why a bill might be delayed from the current payment run.
2 votesHi Nerida, there is already a feature where you can add notes to bills.
If you scroll to the bottom of the bill you'll find Add Note, which opens a text entry field for you to enter and save your note.
It'll only be visible on that bill. Alternatively if the hold is for the contact, you could look to use the Notes field in the details of the Contact record. When you Edit the contact you'll be able to add notes that can be seen to the left of the contact record screen once saved. 😊

Monzo feed
I have a Monzo business account that's reconciled with Xero. When I upload the receipts to Monzo they don't come over into Xero. Are you planning to add this as a feature? If not with Monzo do you offer this with any other accounts like Pleo? It would be good to attach the receipts in Monzo as they happen as they show in Monzo straight away.
1 voteHi Emma, you can connect your Monzo account with Xero to import your transactions. We have a bit of detail on the criteria for automatically importing data from your Monzo account and the steps of how to connect this in Xero Central.
If you have more questions on this I'd recommend connecting with our specialists at Xero Support through the Contact Xero Support link at the bottom of the page there.

Add Another Invoice Link
The Add Another Invoice link is not in the New Invoicing. This is really handy and it would be great if it could be reinstated. Thanks
1 voteHi Barbara, from the Approve & email option you can drop down to Approve and add another 🙂

AU Payroll - Edit export of STP Finalisation
Would be great if we could have a tidier and shorter one (selecting what you want) rather then the CSV file
8 votesHiya all, thanks for your interest in this idea. An update our team have made in Xero Payroll makes reconciling payroll much simpler. You can now see key payroll totals in the Finalisation screen, and you'll also find you have access to an organisation finalisation report that includes totals, which can be exported to PDF format. 😊

Bank Reconciliation - Allocate Payments to a Supplier's account
I do not know if there is a way to do this if so it is not too simple. I would like to allocate a payment from the Bank to a Supplier but to not allocate it against any invoices. This would not be a new invoice but would sit on there account so it is easy to know what they owe a supplier. This idea would be similar to Sage "Payment on Account" which is very simple to do on Sage.
2 votesHi team, the way to do this in Xero would be to reconcile the payment as an overpayment or a prepayment. This would then be credit on a suppliers account that could be applied to a bill at a later date.
Best to connect with your adviser if you're unsure which transaction type you should record these as, however we have a bit more information on these here and here respectively. 😊

bulk change customer or supplier VAT to organisations own, as not all of our services require VAT
To be able to bulk change settings for customer or suppliers.. for example, all of our customers and suppliers (4000+) were added to Xero but have all been pre set to include 20% VAT when invoicing.
But not all of our services are VAT chargeable, now whenever we invoice the VAT rate is pre set, causing us to need to remember to remove it. We can individually change this per customer or supplier to use our organisations own setting, in which this pulls from our schedule of rates. But to have the ability to change this in bulk would make…
1 voteHi Mabyn, sorry for not rounding back to your idea sooner. This should be possible through imports. To bulk update your contacts in Xero, you can export your current contacts list, make adjustments (in this case it sounds like you'll want to update the 'AccountsReceivableTaxCodeName'), then re-import your contacts list to Xero.
As long as you don't change your contact's name this will updated the details of that contact when imported to your organisation 🙂

Bulk update account
Bulk update account for multiple line entries to allow for easier reanalysis of multiple line items within the software.
Include a feature to make it easier to change the account for multiple line entries at once through the supplier side to make it easier when bookkeeping to reanalyse multiple line items, rather than editing them one by one if they get reanalysed within the accounts.
I.e. for a client I originally posted all AXA payments as insurance, in the accounts they were reanalysed as other staff costs, at the moment I need to edit every single line item included in…1 voteHi Adam, we have a feature called Find and recode that will enable you to bulk update the account code for multiple lines at once. You could filter by the contact and then recode whatever lines of transactions as needed.
I'd recommend giving this a try in the demo co first and potentially working with your accountant before implementing this in your organisation. Have more of a read on this here.

Inventory - View history of sales
previous invoice pricing to a customer, I want to see who i sold it too so i can do the same pricing, Instead of the history of products and invoice just say Invoice and Bill
1 voteHi everyone, returning to the idea here as mentioned in my last update you can use the Inventory Item Details report grouped or filtered by Item Name useful for this information.
If it's something you'd like to refer to often, star and favourite the report to make it available from the menu drop down list. 😊

UK Payroll: Customise default working week
Ability to set up standard week in Xero Payroll.
Purpose: To make users easily calculate their employee’s wages. Especially for industries that run 7 days a week.
186 votesHi everyone, we’re pleased to share that we’ve now released working patterns to all UK organisations that use Xero Payroll.
This change reduces manual workarounds enabling you to enter more information employees’ working patterns to support accurate allocations of leave and earnings rates. You’ll find you can now;
- Create or select from working pattern templates
- Add working patterns manually or using the template
- Setup multiple weeks of a working pattern
We’ve shared a few videos on YouTube that’ll help guide you through the change 😊
We really appreciate everyone who’s engaged with us on this idea and those who’ve been involved in testing some of the functionality with us through the journey.

UK Payroll - Auto updates for national Insurance category (NI)
It would be great if Xero could implement an automatic change/suggestion to change to category A after an H-category employee doesn't meet the criteria anymore.
One of our employees just had his birthday and I noticed the category doesn't automatically update and there's no flag to say they might now be ineligible for a certain code.
I imagine there are more companies with the same problem where it's gone unnoticed that the National Insurance Category hasn't automatically updated as nearly everything else does and it's easy to miss a birthday!164 votesHi community, we've rolled out a change to Xero Payroll (UK), and now Xero will automatically apply the new NI category to a pay run based on an employees birthdate, and if they are entering into a new NI category. Meaning you no longer have to manually track and updates these.
We appreciate all your contributions and letting us know how valuable this feature is for you. 😊
