BAS - Notification when Activity Statement is due
Xero should show at the top of the screen or show a notification if you have an activity statement to submit (otherwise you have to specifically go into "Activity Statement" under "Accounting" to check).
3 votesHi June, we've made a recent improvement for Activity Statements to surface the payment due date for any lodged statements. You'll find this from the list of Activity statements within the Completed section, and when you open a Statement you'll see the payment dude date shown at the top of the statement along with payment options to help simplify the process. 😊

User role- Limit invoice only draft only users to their own invoices
User role- Limit invoice access to seeing and working on only user's own invoices. So as to enable different user to work on their own invoices without having access to other user invoices. Only manager should have access to all members of his team .
6 votesHi team, coming back across this idea I wanted to confirm that this is how the Invoice Only - Drafts role currently works - Someone with this role will be able to create and submit bills and invoices they enter to be approved by someone else with the right permissions in the org.
They will only have access to view invoices and bills that they have entered themselves, and will not be able to view bills or invoices raised by others in the organisation.
Danny, it sounds like you're referring to the Invoice Only - Purchase role which will enable a user to raise and approve bills they have entered. The user is not able to access Sales, but they'll be able to view any bills or purchase orders that have been raised by any user in the organisation. We have a somewhat similar idea for a tick box option…

Invoice - Auto create a credit note for negative amounts
Invoice - Be able to have Xero automatically create a credit note if an invoice is negative. Show the invoice as paid in full and generate a credit note for the remainder. The credit can then be applied normally to other invoices on the customer account.
9 votesHi Darren, returning to your idea here we have released a change within new invoicing that'll suggest and enable you to create an Overpayment for any amount that exceeds the total of the invoice. Saving you the time of having to create this transaction separately. See more in my update on this idea. 🙂

Direct Bill Payment - Report showing the payment charges
Xero to create a function that allows you to see a total of Direct Bill Payment charges through a specified time period (similar to running a report on a specific account type). It is a direct cost and therefore it should be very simple to obtain the information. At the moment there is no real visualization, you can only obtain the information by multiplying the amount of payments made in a certain period by £0.24. When handling client money, this means a report needs to be created separately outside of Xero to show in a transparent manner what has been…
1 voteHey Theresa, thank you for raising this suggestion. Whilst there isn't a report dedicated to showing the Direct Bill payment fees, you can use the Account Transactions report to see the fees for a specified time period.
The payment fees are recorded as spend money transactions to the 'Payment Fee' account. Running the Account Transactions report on this account will show you the fees paid.

Link to Journals from the Dashboard
It would be very handy to have a link directly from the Dashboard into Manual Journals please...
1 voteHi all, as noted in my last update - if you have the Adviser role in an org from the dashboard you can click the '+' icon in the menu banner at the top of the screen, and select 'Manual journal' which'll take you directly to a new Manual Journal. 🙂

BAS - Undo a failed Activity Statement lodgement
There needs to be the ability to undo/unlock a submitted ATO Activity Statement when lodgement has failed with the ATO and it has been rejected. When submitting an Activity Statement with a variation, they are often rejected by the ATO as the ATO recaclulates its own amounts and the submitted AS is rejected. This results in an AS that is listed as "Failed" un the Needs attention section of the Activity Statement page. There is currently no way for an end user to undo the failed AS to correct any issues for resubmission.
The failed statements now remain in the…46 votesHi community, as promised I'm back to confirm that the ability to revert a failed business activity statement back to draft is now live to all users.
Now, if your statement has failed to lodge with the ATO, you'll find an option to "Revert to draft" in the 3 dot menu icon next to the failed statement. When selected, the statement will be reverted to Draft status allowing you to correct it and re-lodge to the ATO.
Thanks for your input for this change 😁

Live Hyperlinks on Quotes, Invoices & POs
We issue quotes / invoices to customers, and POs to our vendors that include links to more detailed instructions / specifications on our Sharepoint server. The links don't appear live on the PDF documents so folks have to copy and paste them to view the additional content. It would be great if URLs could generate live hyperlinks so that additional information can be linked in the body of a quote / invoice / PO
1 voteHi Vanessa,
I just tested adding a URL in the Description field on a standard invoice template and when viewing the invoice as a PDF, the hyperlink to the URL does work if you mouse-over the first line of the URL.
Alternatively, if there are common links you want to direct your customers to, you could add them to other areas of your invoices, quotes or PO by using an advanced template. For example you could create an invoice template for a certain type of scenario with the relevant links you need to share, and add them just below the line items and total amounts on the invoice. Then when you need to send these links you just select that invoice branding theme.

Block users from posting duplicate bills
Would it be possible to create a setting where users can be blocked from processing an invoice with duplicate reference numbers. There is currently a message displayed but some users click past it therefore creating duplicate invoices/bills. Perhaps the message can be made more prominent and displayed in Red to alert users.
33 votesHi team, as you might've noticed duplicate detection in bills is now available to everyone! 🥳
We have a bit of detail on how this works in Xero central. Just to confirm outside of the Actions column If you need to view or edit a bill you'll need to return to the bills list to open the bill from here and make changes.
Our team are considering future enhancements in this space to enable you the ability to access bills from this screen. 😊

History & Notes - Filter to see only bank account changes to contacts
History & Notes Report - have a filter for changes made to bank accounts within the contacts menu
1 voteHi there! You can already achieve this by filtering the History and Notes report by Contact, and also using the search to refine the results by bank account edits. I've attached a video demonstrating how - hope this helps 😊

Reporting - Aged Receivables Reports - run as at one date, and view the amount still outstanding at another date
Within the debtors and creditors reports (either detailed or summary) the ability to show balances as of todays date when working on client's system up to 9 months later, would be handy to see which debtors and creditors are still outstanding.
I.e. client has £100k debtors as at their year end 31/3/22, but when we run report on say 31/7/22, how many of that £100k is still outstanding? To have a toggle to the balance at the report date (31/3/22) or the current date would help,35 votesHi everyone, thanks for showing your interest here. With the newer Aged Detail reports, you can achieve this by;
- Setting the date of the report to the date you want to include payments up to
- Click Filter
- Set an Invoice Date filter as 'any' - 'invoices raised up to date'
If this is something you'll commonly run you may want to save the report as custom so you can easily open the report anytime. You'll just want to remember to adjust the filter for the Invoice Date. 🙂

Account Transactions Report | Paid or Unpaid Bills / Invoices
I wish to see if invoices are paid on unpaid when pulling account transaction reports.
Accounting - Account Transaction Report - Columns - (add if we can see if bill/invoice paid or unpaid)
There is no way currently when pulling this report to see if the bills are paid or not.
7 votesApologies for not seeing your response here sooner, Jayden. Thanks for sharing that image. I do hope you've got your answer already but to confirm for anyone viewing here - That screenshot appears to be the Account Transactions report.
To view paid or unpaid invoices or bills you'll want to run the Receivable or Payable Invoice Detail reports. This is a slightly different report to what you're looking at and can be found in the Payables and Receivables section of the reports centre.

Inventory - Identify top customers for an item
When reviewing a business' product range for the sake of refining and optimising, we need to identify which customers purchases what products and in what quantities and to what value.
E.g. if I have a butchery, I would want to know who my top purchasers of beef products are and my top purchasers of pork products, and how much those customers spend on beef and pork respectively over a given period.4 votesHi community, with the Inventory Item Details report you'll be able to add columns for Contact and Group by Item Name. once run clicking on the Contact header will group all sales for a customer of each item so you can easily see which customers have purchased the most of one item.
If you sell to different customers at different prices you can also add margin and/or profit columns to get a better understanding of those you make the most return from.

Bank Reconciliation - Ability to search Unreconciled status under 'Bank statement' tab
Under Bank Statements, you should be able to search all records with an Unreconciled Status. When you Search and select "Unreconciled" in the search bar, you still get ALL records -- reconciled and not.
31 votesHi everyone, thanks so much for bearing with us on this one! We know you've been waiting for an update, and while we haven't directly responded until now, please know that your feedback on this was absolutely shared with our product team.
We're really pleased to let you know that we've now released a fix for this! The filter for reconciliation status will now apply correctly on the Bank Statement or Account transaction pages of a bank account.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and helping us improve Xero – we genuinely appreciate your feedback here.

New Bank Reconciliation report - Include note for foreign currency exchange
Exchange rate on bank reconciliation report
For foreign currency bank accounts, the old bank reconciliation report used to include a note stating that the exchange rate per xe.com that was used to translate the bank balance to the home currency at the report date. This was very useful information to include, as it confirmed the rate and the source of where that rate was obtained. This is not included on the new format bank reconciliation report pack. Please could this note be brought back on the new format reports?7 votesHi community, apologies we've not returned to this sooner. Pleased to share that foreign currency disclosures are now available in the Bank Reconciliation Summary report.

Invoices - Payment terms to default to customers existing payment terms when the issue date is changed
When you create an invoice the payment terms default to what is set for each customer (ie. 45 days from end of month, 60 days etc) however if you then change the issue date of the invoice, it defaults back to 30 days for every client regardless of their terms. We are looking for it to caclulate to each clients correct terms whenever the invoice date is changed
3 votesHi team, with some recent changes we made to the date picker in new invoicing you should find this is now working correctly for you. When creating a new invoice the default due date is triggered by the invoice settings, or where set for an individual contact this'll be the date used, also as noted in my update here - now if you update the issue date after a due dates entered, it does not automatically update the due date when you make issue date changes.
If you're still finding any discrepancies in what you're expecting I'd recommend raising a case with our specialists at Xero Support so we can get more detail and confirm the behaviour you're getting.

Invoices - Option to bulk upload line items
Ability to upload invoice lines into sales invoices (like journal upload) When you have to produce large multi line sales invoices the ability to upload from an excel file would be a huge timesaver instead of having to enter each line individually.
2 votesHi team, as noted earlier - You can import invoices with a CSV file. If you'd like to add multiple lines for the same invoice you just need to use the same invoice number for each row of the file. See our help and tips on the formatting of the file. 😊

Reports - Add custom Watermarks
Would be nice to add multiple permanent Custom Watermarks to your reports (i.e. one that says "For Internal Management Purposes Only" or something similar).
2 votesHi team, thanks for sharing with us here. Custom Watermarks are available for Practices when using Export > Styled PDF.
You'll see a Watermark option with a few pre-selections or the ability to add a Custom watermark where you can enter the text you want including; letters, numbers, common symbols and punctuation marks.

Reports - Delete custom reports
We need the ability to delete a custom report. Many times a custom report is necessary for a period of time then no longer needed. I see no way to delete it. That would be VERY helpful.
2 votesHi Suzette and Tristan, this is already possible 🙂. A user with the Advisor role in an organisation can select to delete a Custom, Drafts, Published or Archived report from the relevant tab in the Report Centre.

VAT201 - Export return to PDF
It would be great to have the ability to Export the VAT 201 to PDF, or the Summarised version to Excel.
1 voteHi Barbara, it's now possible to export your VAT return to PDF! 🎉
You'll find this as a drop down from the Export option in the top right of the VAT return. Thanks for your input on this here 🙂
