  1. Provide option to select a specific start date (within, say, the past 24 months) for bank feeds when submitting the online request through Xero. For example, from previous 1 April rather than from the next day after the bank has processed the request. This would relieve the need to request clients to provide a csv from their online banking for past transactions to complete the year’s records. Some clients are not computer confident for even this requirement when setting up their Xero account.

  2. With cheque books out of circulation and therefore not being able to supply a bank deposit slip for proof of bank account number - a form showing our company bank account name and number where we dont have to take a screenshot of the dashboard and white out information. May exist already or an easier way?

Hi Trish, as a form of verification this is best provided from your bank rather than Xero.

We'd recommend approaching your financial institution/bank for a form such as this that can verify your bank account name and number.

  3. I cannot be the only Global Platform user that has now been waiting for basic payroll feature improvements in the Global version for over 4 years now.

Critical features that are not available include:
    - Ability to add logo and YTD balances on pay slips
    - Template payroll emails when sending pay slips (have to type it every time now)
    - Timesheet option that syncs / built into payroll. Or at minimum an import option.
    - Holiday / sick pay / leave tracking
    - Basic employee portal for them to view pay slips and leave balances, and basic core info…

Hi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding Global Pay Run.

To be open and upfront we don't have direct plans for making changes within the Pay Run feature in the foreseeable future.

You may like to look into connected apps for a payroll solution that could suit your business.

We'll be sure to let you know if there's any change around this.

  4. Description against each transaction on the bank item should come through as "PAYEE" and not "Description". Bank Feed coming as "description" makes it difficult for bank rules as you cannot see the full description against each transaction when reconciled and this is sometimes stressful as you have to refer to bank statement all the time for full description.

Why when bank statements are imported, the description against the transaction is put through "PAYEE" and bank rules are much easier to make and the full description comes through.

Why not on a Bank Feed?

Hi Mayuri, the way data is imported into your bank account in Xero is through information provided and mapped by the bank. This isn't something we're able to control on an individual basis.

The only way to control how data is mapped into the fields in Xero would be to stop the bank feed and manually import statements to your org via CSV where you can map columns of your statement file to fields in Xero, however appreciate the efficiency you likely find from have statements automatically import to Xero.

  5. Xero does not list a public company as eligible for e-invoicng. The Australian Tax Office site does not restrict public companies from using e-invoicing, so can this feature be turned on by Xero?

We are a small not for profit company limited by guarantee and would like to be able to access e-invoicing.

Hi Shane, while we understand why you'd like eInvoice capability for a public company - The reason we don't allow registration for type of entities is that we're unable to reliably, and automatically identify this type of business entity which means that we do not permit registration.

While we are always reviewing our security processes and balancing the risks against customer impact, there are no plans to change this restriction

  6. For NZ Users, when an employee has opted out of Kiwi Saver (which is confirmed by the tax dept) change the Xero description from "Not eligible" to "Opted Out of Kiwi Saver".

This would have saved me a lot of time and your Team there answering this question :-).

Hey Rachel, thanks for submitting this idea!

The team have confirmed that for employees who have opted out, they should be set up as "Automatically enrolled" then "Opt Out" with their opt out date, rather than selecting "Not eligible".

This matches to the available KiwiSaver options through IR.

As such I'll be shifting this one to 'Not planned', but if the advice from IR changes, we'll update the update the settings accordingly!

Hi Victoria, we don't currently have a specific version of Payroll for Canada.

It’s not possible to use tracking in Xero Pay Run. Pay Run in Xero is very simple and is designed for organisations that have a very small number of employees and uncomplicated recurring pay runs.

An option could be to apply tracking to their payroll expenses by entering manual journals 🙂

  8. Add the graph from the old account summary report to the new reporting as people use it to track progress. I understand this feature will be turned off next June/July so would be good to have it moved over to the new reporting

Hi Jennifer the graphs in older versions of reports have been removed as they were running off old technology that is no longer supported.

There are ways of getting more if a visual view of performance in new reporting with tools such as Xero Analytics, and our teams have also added charts to the Income & Expenses by contact reports to help you keep a track of your top customer and suppliers at a glance.

It'd be good to understand is there is something missing within these tools that you'd like to see added or improved.

Hey Kelly, Xero doesn't include a dedicated spell check feature.

It sounds like you've been using the one built-in in to your internet browser.

In this case, I'd reach out directly to their support for troubleshooting the spell check 😊

  10. Xero should provide 'proper' bank/card reconciliation so as to be able to conclusively reconcile the xero record with the source bank account.
What xero calls reconciliation is merely 'matching' bank feed transactions to xero transactions. This is not really reconciliation to source account because the Bank feed is known to both miss lines of the statement and duplicate lines of the statement.
If the feed misses a transaction and it is not in xero either you would never know through the existing reconciliation (matching) process.
Similarly if the feed duplicates a line it may cause it to be created in…

Hi Andrew, appreciate you'd like ensure what's been imported from your  bank to Xero. We will continue to develop the logic and learning behind matches and suggestions Xero provides overtime.

As you know Xero has direct connections with many banks and financial institutions to offer feeds and import statement lines from your bank. In many cases these can be auto matched through a bank account in your organisation.

Despite being thorough in many situations, as these are connections with parties external to Xero, there are cases like you've noted where statement lines can be missed or duplicated - Hopefully you don't find this occurring too often if you do I'd recommend connecting with our Xero Support team to see if there's any way to improve what's being imported.

Manual intervention and review of bank reconciliation is required to confirm what has been reconciled and imported to your bank to match…

Hi Cain, we're aware that Xero has been blocked in certain areas of the world. These censorship instances are put in place by the local authorities and are out of our control.
We're not currently aware of any exceptions to this rule or any ways to work around these blocks.

  12. The new cash summary report is not as user friendly as the old version.
The most common cash summary format used is a full year or YTD monthly report. In the old version it had the months listed so easy to go back to the end of month of last years financial year whereas now all the current options only refer to the last month or are a full year. When comparing with periods 11 months was the most common option used as wanted to compare a full year but now this has to be entered manually. If you want…

Appreciate the new version of report may take a few steps to set up and it can take some getting used to the changes from old to new, Alicia. Being open we don't plan to complete copy the older version.

Having a bit of a test, if you regularly compare the past 11 months you can set this in the Compare with  period = 11 and Months. Once run you can then use the Layout editor to move the columns oldest to newest.

If you then Save as custom you'll find that you can jump back into this formatting any time and update the Date range of the report which will hold the Compare with settings you've set up in the report.

  13. When running Payment Reports such as Bank Account Transactions or Accounts Receivable reports when you select the Column option of 'Invoice Number' the report includes Invoice Number in the report headings but does not actual provide the Invoice Number for each transaction. We would expect the reports to be able to show the Invoice Number field.

Hi all, this depends on the type of transaction that you're viewing in the Account Transactions report.

Payment transactions don't have an 'Invoice Number' field in themselves, instead they are associated to an invoice. If you have not entered a separate reference the invoice number it's associated too will show in the Reference column of the report.

    Thanks for sharing this one!

Having a quick read, I'd say this is one for our friends over on the API Feedback board.

That's the best place to share feedback and suggestions directly with our API team 😊

  15. Would love to be able to change the dates on bank statements that are brought in via Bank Feeds as the import from Investec uses the Transaction Date instead of Action Date, which messes with the Bank Reconciliation reports, as they don't match the bank statement opening and closing balances

Thanks for the added feedback, James - Connecting with our Xero tax UK team on this I want to be upfront that there's no plans to develop for your idea here.

To explain the rationale here - As you'll understand, tax codes are used with the aim that people pay the correct tax on their employment income and do not underpay or overpay, so that a tax return or repayment claim forms do not need to be completed.

Tax codes are only used against PAYE sources. The actual personal allowance is to be used in the self assessment calculations.

    • Personal allowance is reduced in the calculation if someone earns above £100k or they transfer their marriage allowance.
    • If a person receives the marriage allowance, then this is provided as a tax reducer at the bottom of the calculation as per legislation.

Allowing Personal Allowance to be set based on tax…

  17. Could we please have an option to add a second emergency contact for our employees.

Currently when creating a new employee we only have one space for an emergency contact. However, in the case of an actual emergency only one contact may not be enough, a second contact gives a much higher chance of being able to get in contact with someone.

Hi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here.

We appreciate being able to easily add a secondary emergency contact to the details tab of the employee record is important to you.

Atm, you could use the notes tab to add a new note to the employee record and include the details in here.

To be open we don't have direct plans for making this change within the details tab any time in the near future.

  18. I have one customer who pays me monthly and 30-40 suppliers who all accept payment on the 20th of the month following delivery. All I need from my accounting software is to fullfill my monthly GST sales tax obligations and my annual tax returns. At present when I apply to log in to Xero (once per month) as a small business owner, I am told to enter a 6-digit security code that is being sent to my phone. However, there is no field there to receive this 6-digit code. Instead I am given the option to try other verification methods.…

    Hey Hugh 👋

If you've set up MFA using Xero Verify, you'll be offered push notifications, as the primary verification method.

As you've found, the six digit code method is still available, but as a back-up method instead.

If you're using a third-party authentication app, you won't need to click in to 'Use another authentication method' to enter the six digit code.

Instead you'll be greeted with the code entry screen immediately, as pictured.

Hey Aparna, thanks for your idea!

As this is more of a suggestion for Bayzat, I'll be shifting this to 'Not Planned'.

At Xero, we have an open API, which means anyone can develop an app or integration for the product, without providing us documentation.

If you'd like to see your HR or scheduling software integrate with Xero, I'd recommend reaching out directly to their team 😊

  20. More granular level for user access rights

I have seen lots of ideas around this same topic but worded slightly differently.

Essentially, the access rights are far too high level causing users to have access to tasks and rights to delete, approve when they shouldn't

Appreciate your looking through the forums and existing ideas, Tracy.

Although it might seem quite specific it does help to have detail of the specific permission sets and what is missing in the existing roles shared for each idea, and get a sense of the users that are interested in these differing permissions.

As you can likely imagine, with the number of features and different roles & responsibilities staff may have across businesses a matrices of options for every single permissions across every feature in Xero would be quite complex and cumbersome when  trying to assign what a user can or can't do in your organisation.

While we don't have direct plans for this level of incremental control, our product teams are definitely interested to consider the makeup of permissions within a given area or feature of Xero. I'd urge you and others here to add your support to…
