Sales Invoices - Issue progress payments on invoices for project/instalment
Ability to issue progress payments on quotes /invoices to percentage claim certain items or expenses.
Purpose: Users can see the progress of the payments from their customer just from one invoice instead of sending separate invoices.

This is super important for us a villa rental agency where part of the payment it taken on booking and then the second instalment 8 weeks prior to the holiday. It would be such a good feature to have.

Please sort this out Xero.
All our work is project based with a percentage invoiced at each stage of the project. It is messy in Xero and unprofessional. -

Like others on this string, being able to invoice a progress amount whether that be hourly rate or percentage completed (all with variations) is simply a basic function of carrying out ongoing projects.
The invoicing platform as it stands is a very simple one of payment for goods and services rendered arrangement and does not incorporate longer terms 'project' invoicing requirements.
As it stands, I need to create and invoice document, PDF then attached to the Xero invoicing platform then email the invoice, through Xero without the Xero generated invoice to avoid hacking attempts. I am essentially using Xero as a postbox.
Surely this is a priority -

This is such a simple functionality, can't understand why this would not be implemented already

This is really important for us too.
Xero seem to ignore requests for this, it has been raised many times before, see another link below and no action on this one from Xero either?: -

100% this
This is the most basic function that an invoicing function must have for most businesses today. Partial payments are part of the business. I am so surprised this was missed in the development stage. As for me, it would be impossible to use a software without this capability.

Guys, this feature has never arrived, can progress invoices be made a priority? Ideally when selecting the task to invoice you can put a % complete next to it for invoicing this time.

its now mid 2024 and still can't make basic progressive invoice claims against an order. I have to manually calculate % work progresses then subtract from previous invoices. Xero is designed to make accounting easier and remove manual processes yet this very basic function is still not available...

To be able to generate perpetual invoices so invoices don't have to be repeated each month. Particularly useful for rents

My goodness! This was first logged in 2012 and nothing has been done! What's the point of voting for something if Xero just ignores their customers

@John Hart
Card payments don't work for my business and probably a lot of business here saying the same as me!
When you need to invoice for a deposit, one or 2 progress payments and a balance due on completion, when each stage payment is more than most people's credit card limit and the job is completed in a week or 2.
We would like Xero to listen to their users. Xero are not understanding because it doesn't affect them!!

SOLUTION:
Hey Everyone,
I just thought I would jump in here and make you all aware of Stagepay. Stagepay addresses the issue of managing payment stages by allowing you to create them for your invoices. This way, customers can pay only for the specific stage that is due by card.
There is no subscription cost—just a small transaction fee on credit card payments. Stagepay is currently in Beta, and we would love your help in creating something awesome. If you're interested in using Stagepay to send your invoices, we'd be thrilled to have you onboard.
Stagepay is exclusive to Xero; we love Xero, and Stagepay works seamlessly with it to provide a user-friendly workflow for sending invoices.
Hope to hear from you all soon!

We (Xero subscribed payers) have been asking this for 10 years and Xero choose to not listen. Tell me what customer doesn't change their mind through a progression of a job of construction, event planning etc? XERO NEEDS TO LISTEN

@Andrew Watts 100% correct. This is standard on EVERY other accounting software but why Xero don't think business owners need it, it's a JOKE!

Can I confirm that this feature still doesn't exist. It is core to my business. Otherwise, I end up needing to create multiple invoices, or a single invoice with due dates that can't be tracked.

Progress Claims
The ability to set a total order or contract value that is displayed to the customer on every invoice ir other means and progressively ( by way of % ) show invoice amounts to 100%
I currently need to do this manually and it’s inefficient. I enter the total order amount in the description and then calculate the invoice. It means copy old invoices over continuously
Alternatively a spreadsheet can be added to each invoice issue but that defeats the purpose of xero
Quick books offers the ability to progress claim
Please add it as part of Xero for all clients who have contracted work
Thanks
