Thanks for your expressions and feedback in a bulk download or print facility for Files (either from the Files library or at an individual transaction level)
We know that bulk operations can be handy, however at this time we have no plans to develop this functionality. We know it might seem like a small feat, however often even small change is more tightly woven and intricate to solve beneath the surface.
While we understand this must be frustrating to hear, we’re currently focused on making improvements in other areas of Xero and are unable to prioritise a bulk download or print feature right now.
However, in situations like these there are often connected apps through the Xero App Store that may be able to assist. We appreciate and will revise solutions that could fulfil needs in this space, but want to be honest this isn’t something we have plans for right now.

commentedI can't believe this cannot be done. Attachments are the digital versions of the paper receipts, and used instead of them. The download of the attachments should be a fundamental option as digital records are needed to be kept for 7 years. Come on Xero, sort it out.

commentedAfter many years, I need to have a clear-out and delete loads of unused accounts etc. The only way to do this is apparantly to create a new subscription.and transfer the data I need. But now I discover that I can't transfer the attachments. This is a problem. Xero should explain this to new users, and recommend that files are stored outside Xero. Even better, Xero should offer the possibility to include links to items in external storage.

commentedIt's disappointing Xero does not provide bulk export of the general ledger with all attachments.

commentedThis is needed urgently. Its required for audit purposes, document retention, and document retention in the event that you no longer require Xero access. We need the ability to easily bulk export all data and attachments that have been inputted into Xero.

commentedThis is critical for us. We are ending our Xero subscription until there are improvements in adding receipts to transactions, and exporting receipts. There are too many mouse clicks involved across all of Xero - what is a drag and drop, or simple function in a phone app, takes far longer in Xero.

commentedTrying to lock users into your system by not offering these types of features, is exactly the thing that will drive customers away.

commentedIf Xero is not prepared to offer a basic function such as downloading MY data in a simple way then I will need to look for an alternative accouniting solution.

commentedIf we expect and encourage clients to use Hubdoc/Xero as their sole recording keeping source we need to offer them a solution should they wish to stop using it.

commentedI really don't understand why Xero have not allowed users to download in bulk their digital receipts. The mobile app accesses your camera and imports the photo into Xero without saving the image to your phone. So there is no other way to access the image other than through xero. Who is going to spend days going through every transaction downloading the individual files? Surely Xero could enable this feature easily. It's a must for auditing and backup purposes.

commentedIt is a great feature that receipts etc can be saved with the transactions but not acceptable that these cannot be exported in bulk.

commentedIt is good that the client has the ability to attached the invoices to each transaction but then, we need to give the copies to the auditor so this step would improve our efficiency substantially.

commentedAs it is organisations' responsibility to archive / back accounting data, it must be possible to bulk export all attachments for expenses.

commentedDownloading files one by one really takes time. Especially when there are hundreds of files in the library.

commentedAdd on to my previous note about resurrecting the subscription as a safeguard "Only the subscriber for that organisation can reactivate it." - less than helpful if an organisation has been wound up (eg email facilities etc). Whilst I accept that it is the Directors/Trustees responsibility to maintain/retain proper accounting records it would have been helpful to know in advance that by uploading the only copy of the supporting documentation to Xero was tantamount to filing in a black hole.

commentedIn this virtual world that we find ourselves this is critical.
Becomes a big if you have to pass on records when a company is sold to a new owner (transfer of accounting records).
Also, if we are dissolving an entity and need to keep the records for the statutory retention period.
To be fair, Xero do say that they keep the records for the statutory retention period and you can reactivate the subscription at any time, but not ideal

commentedFor all the commentors - while it’s not as good as having it built in, there are third party solutions to do this in the Xero App Store.
