Files - Bulk export/print attached files
Ability to export and print files from Xero in bulk.
Purpose: To have backup files and audit purposes.
Thank community, we appreciate all your involvement on this idea. We understand the ability to bulk export or print attached files would be a huge time-saver, especially for year-end audits, client communication, and general record-keeping.
We’ve evaluated the complexity of this feature against other priorities on our roadmap. Atm, this isn't in our plans however we'd like to explore bulk downloading of files from Xero in the longer term. I'll share an update when we're able to give more attention to this, here.
For the meantime if this is essential for you right now, you may like to explore third-party integrations through our Xero app store which could meet your needs here.

Add on to my previous note about resurrecting the subscription as a safeguard
"Only the subscriber for that organisation can reactivate it." - less than helpful if an organisation has been wound up (eg email facilities etc).
Whilst I accept that it is the Directors/Trustees responsibility to maintain/retain proper accounting records it would have been helpful to know in advance that by uploading the only copy of the supporting documentation to Xero was tantamount to filing in a black hole.

In this virtual world that we find ourselves this is critical.
Becomes a big if you have to pass on records when a company is sold to a new owner (transfer of accounting records).
Also, if we are dissolving an entity and need to keep the records for the statutory retention period.
To be fair, Xero do say that they keep the records for the statutory retention period and you can reactivate the subscription at any time, but not ideal -

This functionality is an absolute no brainer.

For all the commentors - while it’s not as good as having it built in, there are third party solutions to do this in the Xero App Store.

Can't believe we still can't bulk download files from Xero. This should be a basic feature and costs us a lot of time.

Example: I have a large client who keeps no paper records, relying on Xero to store everything. If they were to move to a different accounts package, or closed the company, or (god forbid!) Xero closed down, they would have absolutely no records they can produce in the event of an HMRC inspection.

Our insurancy policy has a clause stating that we must have an offline backup of all files and transactions

Extremely useful to have a backup of all records when closing down a Xero business. Why have you not considered this before?

It would be a useful "backup" option

Not sure why this option isn't already available.
I left QuickBooks thinking Xero had more flexibility but this is a letdown.

Hi Hong.
You said ... "At each calendar month / financial year end, we able to export/download all the files at year end, which perfectly align with the reconciled records."
Are you able to download and save a full transaction listing with all the invoice attachments as well??
Thanks!

We can create invoice, send email to add bill, scan receipt to create expense..etc. All these are already stored in Xero Files.
At each calendar month / financial year end, we able to export/download all the files at year end, which perfectly align with the reconciled records.
Save massive time and never need to worry about keeping your invoice/receipt book somewhere else, and also easy for users if they want to keep a backup of the records. -

This will be extremely beneficial for audit purposes. Now that we can directly email invoices to Xero to create the bills with the file attahced, being able to export/download all the files at year end would be a massive time saver.

Hope you add this feature the soonest possible time. This would be very helpful to those who will set-up another Xero account due to changes in base currency. or make it possible to have an option to change the base currency in Xero in the future.

Require as a invoice/receipt book. Very useful for audit purpose.

This is needed urgently. Its required for audit purposes, document retention, and document retention in he event that you no longer require Xero.
