Profit and Loss report - Detailed Profit and Loss to show all transactions
To show all expenses in the profit and loss report.
Purpose: To make it easier for a user to see all the expenses in the report rather than having to individually open each expense

I'd LOVE to be able to run a detailed Profit and Loss for a particular tracking category rather than exporting a P&L to Excel, then multiple transaction reports to Excel and fiddling about with them for reporting to interested parties.

I think you need accountants within Xero who liaise with the software developers.
It seems there is interpreting the need rather than people who understand it. Look, there are many different types of accountants. Xero needs people on the inside who have actually done the hard yards inside a commercial business. This is not someone who graduated from university and spent time with the big four firms, no disrespect. That is not commercial accounting, sorry. We should not have to explain this need to you. Make it happen or you will be surpassed by someone who listens to their clients. -

This is an extremely important feature when handling the bookkeeping for other firms. It is the most efficient way to review whether transactions are in the correct accounts and are being coded consistently. Many of my clients like to see this report EVERY month, so they stay 'in touch' with the financial transactions in the business. Xero's suggestion to just run a report of all transactions is not even close to the same thing. We really need to see the detail of the transactions set up in the SAME format as the Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet. You have an opportunity at the moment to take away a chunk of market share from QuickBooks Online. Clients and bookkeepers alike are frustrated with the changes made. But Xero needs better reports, and a true reconciliation option before that will happen. Don't miss this opportunity!!

Just checking in on this request. This really is ridiculous not to have such a simple, STANDARD report that every software program has, even some of the most basic. I have been moving clients over to Xero, but I have to go build special transaction reports for reviewing monthly books and searching for errors. Completely unacceptable in this realm.

Detail P&L following the summary report is vital - may have to abandon Xero unfortunately
Have also had zero success in getting any support with set up and moving date issues, zilch support! - what the **** are you charging for? -

This is the feature I want by far the most on xero. It is so simple and I don't know why it doesn't exist.
I moved from Quickbooks because we changed accountants and would move back just because this feature is lacking.
Wondering how others see all the detailed expenses in one report?

Looking for a Profit & Loss Detail Report that shows detailed transactions in the same income/expense order as the Profit & Loss (summary) Report. When I run an Account Transaction Report in Xero, the income categories are not on top.
Am I missing something? A detailed P&L should be an easily accessible report.

Why have we still not got this xero!

This report was a staple in Quickbooks. Highly frustrating that I can't see all the expense line items in one report now using Xero, without clicking into each expense line.

important to show all expenses, including split entries for credit card charges paid by check.

A Profit & Loss Detail Report seems like a no brainer. All other bookkeeping software I've used has this up front, and automatic.

It would be really helpful to see more details of each transaction in the list when I open an account in a financial report, especially check numbers.
