Organisation settings - Dark mode

Ability to change darker backgrounds in Xero.

Purpose: White text against a Dark Background, is easier to see for the eyes.

Hi team, while the status of this idea remains unchanged from our last post we did want to provide an update in the channel here.

As shared previously there's the possibility of exploring third-party apps like Google's High Contrast, which allows you to change the colour on your screen so it's easier to read.

Our Xero Accounting app is a bit of a different kettle of fish and for iOS users there is a dark mode available from the 'Appearance' option that you can navigate to from the 3 dot menu in the top right of the app screen.

Though we fully understand and appreciate needs for wanting dark mode, the ability to develop this requires resource from across all areas of product to implement in the web version. Providing dark mode is not on our current roadmap.

If there are any further changes to share we will provide further updates to you on this thread.

    Yes please let us have dark mode my eyes are not as good as they used to be working in all white.

    Considering I have to incur personal expenses in relation to colour overlays because of the migraines I get using Xero - please please make this a thing!

    My eyes are suffering a bit of damage from contacts and having dark mode would be the best thing. I have changed chrome etc all over to dark mode which has eased the glare on my eyes from the white screen. Unfortunately xero cannot be changed and this is where I spend a lot of my time. Please bring this feature in as a WH&S priority.

    A temporary solution for people using Chrome is to install the Dark Reader addon - it works perfectly. A 1st party solution ofc would be better, and this isn't a fix for mobile where with light mode only Xero is stuck in the 2010s :/

    This would be awesome. Working at night is a real pain at times with the bright white backgrounds

    I work on Xero for a long time and when I switch from any other screen with a dark background, the figures on the Xero screen seem to be blurred. It may be due to switching but working for a long time on a white background screen hurts. Please add a dark background mode.

    Dark mode would be great and has a much more modern feel apart from the benefits to eyes etc

    I am amazed that this is not available. This would help the elderly and people with eyesight disabilities/ I am one of them.
