Organisation settings - Dark mode

Ability to change darker backgrounds in Xero.

Purpose: White text against a Dark Background, is easier to see for the eyes.

Hi team, while the status of this idea remains unchanged from our last post we did want to provide an update in the channel here.

As shared previously there's the possibility of exploring third-party apps like Google's High Contrast, which allows you to change the colour on your screen so it's easier to read.

Our Xero Accounting app is a bit of a different kettle of fish and for iOS users there is a dark mode available from the 'Appearance' option that you can navigate to from the 3 dot menu in the top right of the app screen.

Though we fully understand and appreciate needs for wanting dark mode, the ability to develop this requires resource from across all areas of product to implement in the web version. Providing dark mode is not on our current roadmap.

If there are any further changes to share we will provide further updates to you on this thread.

    My eyes have deteriorated rapidly over the years & my optometrist states the cause is from eye strain from computer screens. With Xero it hard to see blue on white with the light/glare coming from behind. The blue is not a "crisp" contrast which makes it harder to read
    It would be so beneficial to have the ability to change the colours to suit the individual needs (black on white, dark blue on white, white on black)

    my eyes hurt when i come home late from work to complete the office work and dark would make it so much easier to work

    Had a Post COVID eye test - short answer is the screen time has had a negative impact and I'm suffering from strain.

    Night mode would be a major benefit.

    It would make it much more consistent with other sites/applications. The Xero app has dark mode, why not allow users the option on the webpage. I don't think it should be organisation wide, it should be a user specific setting

    browser dark mode extension isn't a good suggestion. an application such as this should have a dedicated dark mode, not an outside add on

    If you are using Chrome you can force XERO and all sites for that matter to appear in Dark Mode.

    While it would be preferable for XERO to implement this as an optional feature on their own. Based on my experience it's unlikely to happen anytime soon. I am hope I am wrong.

    On Google Chrome, you can download an extension called "Dark Reader" which turns Xero into dark mode which helps in the time being. Please add dark mode though!!

    Please add Dark Mode feature. It is very difficult to work for long hours, eyes burn every single day.
