Inventory - Reserve inventory for consignment or pre-sales
Ability to reserve inventory (through invoices or some other format) to account for pre-sales or consignment of goods
Purpose: Make some inventory reserved so it cannot be sold through other channels

I have customers that will receive goods on consignment, and I will only be able to invoice them when they tell me to do so. Your system does not allow that at this point in time! Which means that we have to use third party software. Integration would be a plus.

Please add this feature! We are looking at changing to MOYB for this reason which is frustrating because moving across will be extremely time consuming.
We are a manufacturing company that makes large robotic tractors. Each tractor has sub parts such as the bonnet, front chassis, and rear chassis. But each sub part has hundreds of parts that are welded and machined together.
Right now owe can't properly track our inventory at all. We can track inventory into the business but not out because XERO requires every line item on the invoice in order to realise inventory stock has decreased.
As you can tell with thousands of parts an invoice that recorded every part would be pages long. All we want to give our customer is a clean easy to read invoice that can say 2 tractors, or 4 bonnets and 2 front chassis and this is exactly what we do. However, this does not allow us to record the decrease of inventory.Secondly, having the ability to reserve inventory (inventory in-use) when allocated to a project would also be HIGHLY helpful. Rather than waiting till the end once a job is invoiced and the inventory count is decreased. That way owe can see what stock is already allocated for and how much more we need to order.

Stored inventories on multiple locations and track them accordingly (manage multiple warehouses)

im also needing to control inventory in multiple locations.
it is dissapointing to see that Xero cant do this.
Tracking Category is difficult when it comes to reporting stock qty. -

I have several accounts that deal with consignments, would be very keen to use Xero across those platforms if this becomes a functionality

We have several items in our inventory that are kept in two separate locations - one in the United States, the other in Europe. We want to be able to know the amount in each location and when we invoice an item for it to be taken from the correct inventory. Can this be done in Xero? If no, what is the best recommendation for doing this? What app can someone recommend? Our inventory is limited to about twenty items and two locations so we do not need a complicated program.

Kelly Munro - unfortunately, quotes don't actually reduce inventory or even reserve it within Xero. Inventory sitting in a quote can still be sold out from under the quote. The only place it seems to show up is if you look in the actual inventory item.
Kiri Schumacher - I ran into software called Benchworks that is specifically created for the jewelry business and can handle consignment. Integrates with Xero and Shopify currently. Worth a look!

It would be wonderful if I could manage my consignment stock within Xero.
I am looking for inventory management software (as a consigner) supplying to retail stores: I supply my jewellery to galleries and they sell the jewellery on my behalf. Once each piece of jewellery sells the gallery takes a cut and pays me the rest.
I currently use Quickbooks as my inventory management software, but they're retiring the plan and I need to find replacement software.

Hi Pam, if you're using tracked inventory(https://central.xero.com/s/article/Options-for-managing-inventory-in-Xero). Quotes you enter with tracked items will show against the item as 'In committed Quotes' and similarly with Purchase orders as 'Quantity on order'.
