User Roles: Invoice only - Inventory access for invoice only setting
There should be the ability to select inventory access for users that have invoice only access.
For example, my office manager handles all the invoicing as well as all of the stock and inventory management. Currently he cannot access inventory to add new items or change pricing without the ability of seeing all of the bank accounts. Second tier management should be able to access invoicing and stock control without seeing critical financials. I suggest that a tab be added to the settings for users to allow inventory to be accessed at the invoice only level user.
Alternatively, make bank record access, bank reconciliation and bank accounts a selectable feature in all levels of settings so they can be excluded whilst giving permission to specific other features for users. I would love to see this happen because I have an office manager who runs my business for me but as a managing director, I have to enter all the stock items myself to ensure that he does not have access to the bank account information.
This is not an incredibly valuable use of my time.
Xero, please look into this.

I have been asking Xero to create an option for employees to be able to access inventory only and make adjustments for the past 5 years! It seems outrageous that anyone working in your business can view all financials. Xero, please can you make this critical much needed change.

I require my stock team to be able to order and review stock but I dont want them having access to view bank accounts or financials.

I agree with all the other businesses in the same position. Only the people in the financials of the business should be allowed in to access financials...
I have been asking for this function to be upgraded for 6 years. Please Xero can you urgently make this change! -

The grouping of user settings/options on Xero seems illogical, Admin staff need access to sales invoicing and stock modules in full, so you would imagine IO+approve and pay would suffice, however it doesn't allow stock/products access properly. To do this, the user needs to be a standard user, and can then see all bank transactions and balances, which just seems bonkers? Why are stock functionality and bank access linked?

Totally agree with the OP. My admin is not able to access products and services to update our inventory list without having access to bank account details so I am left making these updates as required. My time can certainly be better used. I see there are multiple similar comments since the OP in May 2022. Please Xero, we know you can do better!

It is very short sighted that this menu option is not available. I dont wish all staff to see all the bank/p&l figures but be able to enter basic info and create quotes/invoices

This has become a huge issue with our client who we have just converted to Xero from MYOB. Their engineers need to access the Items list all the time to reference details but we can't have them accessing the company bank accounts.
Pls Xero... there must be a way -

Customisation of access levels would solve these issues. For example, Xero could have default/standard access levels as there is now, but also have the option to design our own access levels would be a significant improvement to the program because at the moment the lack of flexibility is making it hard for all different types of businesses to fit into this cookie cutter program.

So the Xero support case that I logged responded and said that the user can add inventory items - however I have gone through his Xero profile and nowhere is there any option for him to add a new item. He can type a description for something and invoice it out, but then it is not tracked and completely circumvents the stock system and hence stock variances will occur.
Xero - please can you urgently look into giving permissions to invoice roles to add and edit stock items. Judging from the comments below, this is a crucial feature. -

This has recently become a problem for us... consider this Xero... do you think it is appropriate that someone who manages stock is automatically granted the ability to see all staff salaries because the permissions are not granular enough?
Less focus on the pretty... more focus on the functional please!

Another voice adding to the discussion. I fully agree with and support this idea, I have office assistants who really don't (and shouldn't ) need to see our banking activities but do need to perform basic admin functions including updating inventory. As a small business, the lack of flexibility is causing me huge logistical problems.

Totally agree. Please allow option to let an Invoice Only user have access for creating/editing products without giving them full access to bank accounts etc...
It's a real issue for us and it shouldn't be that difficult to implement in the software. -

Totally agree with the above, we are in the exact same situation. We need our office manager to do our inventory, but we also need the bank details to remain confidential. It seems very odd to us that we can't just switch off the banking access? We currently have our office manager on the higher setting, as our Director does not have time to do the inventory, as you can well imagine. Definitely not ideal.

This request has been lodged in May 2022 already and this is a critical function for business owners who has office staff responsible for inventory.
Can we please get this updated to make everyone on Xero accounting's life easier???
I am sure there are lots of business owners looking for this update, but not taking the time to vote on this page.
