Report Templates | Copy - Client to practice, or client to client
There are a number of Report Templates available in the Client Reports which once adapted would be good to copy either from one client to another or better still from a Client to the Practice Reports, making them available for all clients and they could then be included in Monthly Management Reports.
Currently you can only copy reports within a client or within the Practice Reports and the facility is not available to copy across from one to another

Looking to be able to select a P+L layout (screenshot one) when we go to prepare financial statements in the adviser section (screenshot 2) from the ones we prepare in a specific client file.
We end up creating a customer P+L layout to work in Xero, then create it again when preparing financials as our firm's base template always needs to be tweaked give every client has slightly different account codes and line items. Being able to set it up once rather than twice will be more efficient. -

We also use custom P&L and Balance Sheet templates for our client - we must be able to add these into management report packs, so much time gets wasted reformating these reports. It is ludicrous that we need to do this exercise twice for every client.

Great post I am struggling with the same I put in all the effort generating Custom reports and then to realise they cannot be bundled to a management pack? It should not be difficult to make these addable!!!!
Please Xero Action this

Great idea to be able to copy customised client reports to another client as a draft - nice & efficient.

Copy and existing report from within a client report pack ( fin stmts). very handy when a large number of codes, but you wish to have the option of a condensed version of the P &L and a expanded version , would save reinventing the wheel if we could just copy it and edit.
Say for a P & L have income, then condensed expenses ( Grouped) than add a schedule of expenses, which is expanded and the income is hidden or easily deleted/removed. -

Would allow us functionality without having to invite staff into more practises.

It would be really handy where one has a customised report for a client with specific commentary, and one would like to use that for another client in the same industry.

Report creation and the ability to turn a useful report for one client into another one for a different client is a powerful capability. This capability should be two way between Client Reports and Xero HQ and back.

This is a critical issue and needs to be addressed ASAP

The ability to add a client level Custom Report to a Practice Annual Report template once its been created at client level.
With a wide range of chart of accounts and not all client charts set-up with report codes mapped we need to rebuild every custom Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet when doing Annual Reports now.
This will be excruciating for the first year while we are forced onto the new reports.
We should simply be able to add a client level custom made report into the Annual Report once we have created a new one from the template at client level. Then delete the ones not needed.
This would be a quick easy fix for now, for what will be some really long term pain.
Furthermore across a wide range of clients and client types we don't necessarily need a practice level P&L or Balance Sheet. DIfferent strokes for different folks and its just much easier to build these custom reports at client level and slip them into the Annual Report while preparing.
Surely I'm not the only one with this pain.
Especially when no-one has the time to map all the report codes for each individual client and clients add their new codes during the year sometimes which is just ongoing work mapping to practice templates when we can quickly just customise at client level while doing ongoing work during the year.
Furthermore I have dozens of custom reports at client level that have been requested to have different groupings and layouts that i shouldn't need to rebuild while doing Annual Reports.
Should just be able to slip them in! -

This is essential Xero!
We shouldn't need to rebuild a custom Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet from within Annual Accounts templates once created at client level.
We should just be able to delete the relevant reports that are useless and add the client level custom reports.
Not only are we now going to need to do this for every single client as we do Annual Reports, but then each year they will need amended for any changes during the year.
Its not practical to use the templates at practice level for every client.
Too many charts of accounts are completely different, especially those we pick up as new clients from competitors and those that set up Xero themselves then came for help. This is madness.
Please just give us the ability to add a custom report to client level Annual Reports.
Rant over.

Have spent hours (literally) creating a report for a client. Now have found out we cannot import the report template to use in the practice. Come on Xero!!!

Agree, we shouldn't need to spend time on report formatting if Xero decides to retire some of the old formats of management reports.

It should be possible to add custom reports at the client level into report templates. This would allow several custom reports to be grouped, at client level, to produce management or board reporting packs on a regular basis.
The existing approach is to open and print various reports and group these outside of Xero. Another option is to recreate client level custom reports at advisor level, which is double the work load, potentially difficult given different chart of accounts, and leads room for error if amendments to custom reports happen at client level. Neither of these options are great.

Can we have the ability to copy a custom report created in one account across multiple accounts? It would seem at the moment I would need to create a custom template in each of the 115 plus files I oversee. Using the old reporting styles, this could be done. It would be a backward step if this was not a possibility.

Yes this would be an excellent function and should have been implemented from the start.
Also make it possible to copy from Practice to Client so that the client can run that one report whenever necessary. This would save hours of work to format a whole new report from within each & every branch of a client group when we already have one setup as a template in the practice. -

I would like to copy the ASK Template from one practice to another practice. We handle two practices here. I would save me time having to redo all the template types; Sole Trader, Business, Trust, Personal Tax queries from one to the other.

100% agree with this. I was surprised to find I couldn't add the Payable Invoice Summary report to a practice report template let alone a customised payable invoice summary report from one client to another.
