BAS (AU) - Monthly PAYG Income tax instalment
Xero doesn't currently have the option for reporting PAYG Income Tax Instalment on a monthly basis. Could Xero look into providing this option in the monthly BAS Activity Statement reporting.

Appreciate your input here, everyone. Our team has looked into this idea to better understand the needs and complexities involved, however they don't have any concrete plans for it just yet.
Rest assured that our eyes are on the ground monitoring your feedback and votes here, so please keep adding them in this thread. For the time being, I’ll move this idea into ‘Under review’ status. And if there's any movement, we'll make sure to come back here and let you all know.

This is so frustrating. Hard to believe that this issue has not been fixed given it was raised 3 years ago.

The fact that this is still not available in Xero makes it very annoying as the ATO demands it of very small businesses. Rather than being able to lodge directly through Xero, we are being required to instead lodge via the Tax Office which is a nightmare, The fee for Xero has increased and you should provide this service. It truly is unacceptable that this has not been rectified. It surely cannot be that hard to include. If you can do for quarterly statements, why is it so difficult to include for monthly statements?

This "idea' was first raised within the community in August 2022. Almost 3 years and 66 votes later and still this issue hasn't been rectified.
I quote "Rest assured that our eyes are on the ground monitoring your feedback and votes here, so please keep adding them in this thread.". I don't want to go as far to say this is a lie... but it is an empty statement.
This is not an "idea" being requested. It is a request that a known software issue be fixed to align to (and cater for all) the lodgement cycles for PAYG income tax instalments. This is hardly a pie in the sky request and the fix can't be that onerous that Xero should delay this for 3 years.
Xero, please attend to this as a matter of urgency.

I can't understand why this is not a standard feature with more and more business required to pay monthly PAYG.
Could this be added as a matter of urgency please, and keep us updated on progress. -

I cant believe this is not catered for. If the PAYG Withholding can be optioned between monthly and quarterly surely the same logic can be applied to the PAYG Instalments. The comments below would suggest this is an issue for a number of your users and has been for a number of years now. What are we waiting for?? At what point do these type of issues get actioned? Come on just get on with it and fix it.

80% of businesses in Australia have to do PAYG monthly to the ATO, this is about to change to weekly PAYG payments to the ATO

I think this is a necessity. Many businesses have to pay PAYGI on a monthly basis in Australia, so it is disappointing that Xero haven't catered for this eventuality. The functionality exists on a quarterly basis, so I can't see why this cannot easily be extended to monthly.

The ATO has automatically changed several of our clients to monthly PAYG instalments from 1 July. One particular client lodge their own BAS's and now can't lodge from Xero and are not impressed. They were already considering moving all of their files to a different platform so this may be the nail in the coffin so to speak. Surely this can't be too hard to change?

Without this functionality we can't keep Xero blue and Xero green in sync which is so confusing when you are working with large teams.
There are a few instances like this cropping up where Xero has missing functionality (future year tax returns for companies is another example) and they don't seem to get much attention.
Really would like to see this progress and get on the roadmap for development asap.

Hi Kelly Munro and Team,
Perhaps you might need to reasses just "monitoring feedback and votes on this issue". This has been going on since the issue was lodged in 2022. Your platform offers a direct connection with the ATO and offers the facility to lodge activity statements directly to the ATO. Have you considered that this feature is useless and misleading given that these monthly PAYG instalment income can't even be included in the monthly reporting and lodgements? I am sure an earlier resolution on this issue would be appreciated by many.
Kind regards,

This will help immensely - the activity statements in Xero are quite confusing without including the monthly PAYG Instalments, and having to explain to the director why they need to pay more than the Xero statement.

I believe this would increase the efficiency for us to prepare activity statement.

I am submitting Monthly IAS to ATO, and I know through Single Touch Payroll, it automatically inputs the data, I would just absolutely like to check through the reports feature through Xero too. I dont want to have to manually add up the PAYG from Payroll!! Thank you
