Repeating Invoice - bulk update of amounts
We are a subscription based business, so it would be great to be able to bulk update repeating invoice amounts. Either by selecting all the ones we'd like to change or by pushing through new inventory/product/service price changes. At the moment we have to change every single repeating invoice and this takes hours and hours!
Thanks for the feedback and great to hear the use you find in repeat templates in Xero.
While there's no way to bulk update templates atm, you may find updating your templates through export & import of invoices more helps quicken things up?
You could export invoices that have been generated from your template to CSV, update the amounts in the exported file, and then re-import.
This will create 'Draft' invoices in your Xero org from which you can create a Repeat template and then delete the draft. 🙂

The lack of this feature is a total pain even for a relativly small number of repeating invoices. Every other inventory based system I've seen can do this so it's yet another Xero feature that doesn't follow database standards. I've ended up building an app using the API to make it much faster but that's no good for most people who aren't developers.

The import/ export solution suggested in not efficient at all. Changes in item prices need to flow through to recurring invoices. It seems a very basic request that has been ignored by Xero for too long.

Just realised after a year of updating our products thinking it will auto update repeating invoices based on those products, that it doesn't actually change the invoice... so very disappointed.

Regarding this we are considering other options as its taken almost 6 months for us to implement price increases across all our products and clients and we are still not finished. And in 6 months time we have to start all over again.

Maybe we as the Xero users are also to blame... Look at all the features that add very little value to the product that have over 500 votes.
Get every person you know, every company and client that uses Xero and are pulling out their hair because of this poor implementation of repeating invoices to upvote this feature request and maybe they will take note.

Save your breath and time, Xero is not going to listen or implement this request. I have been asking for 4+ years and nothing has been done. Their solution is to export to excel, update and re-import, which is also a massively time consuming method prone to mistakes as it is still basically a manual process.
This is why we don't recommend Xero to any client with any form of repeating invoicing, if this is an important requirement for you, I'd suggest looking at another product like Quickbooks, which does it flawlessly.
Sad thing is they could keep their current broken method which they seem to think is preferred and just add a check box or option for those wishing to pull repeating invoice costing from line items.

I have re-occuring invoices that generate for customers each month. These invoice use Products loaded into XERO. I have updated all the products with the new prices but all the re-occuring invoices are still generating with the old prices (this is a terrible feature !) Also when updating the re-occuring invoices so the new pricing comes through the Quantiy changes automatically from the number already on the invoice to 1 this is super frustrating feature. xero is supposed to automate tasks not make them harder !!

high volume, low margin subscriptions look good until you have to do a pricing update. I wish there was a button I could press to update all products in recurring invoices with the latest data from the Xero stock list.
The reply from Kelly would be helpful if we always sold exactly the same quantity of the same product to each subscription customer, but my use case is too varied for that.

We REALLY need this function PLEASE as this is critical to the functioning of our business.

Xero should have as a core goal value "to making processes simple for accountants to undertake their role". So having to export and then import is a cop out Kelly Munro. Xero should be leading on-line accounting platforms not lagging behind the opposition. Build flexibility into the product. This enhances our user happiness :) :)

100% support this becoming an update! A bulk update function or the ability to update item prices and apply the change across repeating invoices would save hours of administration time!

I totally agree, either a bulk update function or the ability to update item prices and apply the change across repeating invoices.

We recently moved from MYOB to Xero, and its just like MYOB all over again with paying customers notifying about OBVIOUS problems with the software, and nothing gets done.
The post above from Xero suggesting that customers use export/import to update repeating pricing is a total joke; how about adding a simple tick box to product and service items to select whether you want an item update pushed through to the same items listed in repeating invoices when you press save?
Lift your game Xero or customers will be forced to look eslewhere for a proper accounting package!
Oh also, no phone number to call to escalate the issue, only an unmanned "product ideas" forum... -

Critical!
This is a feature your competition has been offering for years, would immediately attract more clients.
