Reporting | Excel Export - Remove formatting
Please remove font size formatting and merged cells from excel exporting and open the exported spreadsheet at 100%.
Hi team, rounding back to confirm that the changes shared last week have now been rolled out and you'll find the next time you export a report from Xero to Excel that the formatting will be a little different. To recap the updates we've made;
- The report will now default to 100% zoom (rather than 150%),
- we've adjusted the size of title and currency fonts for ease of reading, and
- made slight changes to the formatting of cells in rows for consistency across the report
Thanks again for your feedback on the site, and if you'd like to support and follow any updates on merged cells, join in the idea here 🙂

This is absolutely horrible to work with. It’s making our job harder not easier. I feel like Xero is going backwards.

Thanks for the update. I will express again the inconvenience of having to unmerge in every report, ever time. Surely Xero can create a report with unwrapped text formatting that spills into the next cell? Just leave the next cell empty. More than half the time reports are used for information not presentation and most people using Xero would have figured out using a spreadsheet formatting

yes please fix the 150% zoom is so annoying.

It'd be great to get the 'merge cells' removed! To work with the data you then have to unmerge everything first and then work with it. 'align & centre' achieves exactly the same look on the reports but doesn't mess with selections etc.

I agree the new formatting on the reports is apalling

Can you please change the new Aged Receivables Report so that it exports to excel the same as the old one. The old one exports perfectly into excel, when you export the new one, it doesn't have any vertical grid lines, the numbers down the left hand side are all compacted together, the zoom is 150% but if you reduce it to 100% the writing is tiny, and and if you remove one of the columns the total doesn't update, like the old one.

The new Bank Reconciliation Summary report is formatted badly when exporting to Excel.
The formatting is really big and spacey. Withdrawals are shown '(200.00)' instead of '-$200.00' and this confuses clients.
Overall the report is visually unpleasant. Reverting to the old format would be greatly appreciated.
Example attached.
