Profit & Loss (Income Statement) - Year to date percentage of income
Regarding the Income Statement:
When the "Percentage of Income" & "Year to Date" options are selected, can we get the percentage of income column to calculate on the year to date column as well?
This would allow for better variance analysis - comparing the current months percentages to the year to date percentages.

Bank Account - Add separator line at the end of each month
When looking at a list of transaction, for example in Bank Statements, it can be hard to visually identify where transactions relating to the current month or any month begin/end in the list.
When viewing such lists, by simply adding a darker separator line at the end of each month, and maybe an even darker/wider one at the end of each Financial Year (or indeed by having a slightly different background colour/shade for alternating months), it would make visually identifying months so much easier.
Please can we have such a feature? It would make life a lot easier for many…

Bank rule - Transfer money and Bank fee as 2 lines
Almost all the payment providers are now settling the amounts with the fees deducted from the captured/sale amount. This needs to be reconciled as two lines 1) Transfer to cash control account and 2) Bank fees.
Currently there is no way to create a rule for this, hence it is a big overhead for the reconciliation, with almost a large chunk of card sale having to go through this process. Can the product team please take care of this on priority? thanks
2 votesThanks for the confirmation Prashant.
Although not a direct solution right now, you may be aware that Stripe (one of our providers) has automated capability you can set up like you've described for automated matching.
Alternatively, if your payment provider takes a set % of the total sale then with a rule you could proportionally split a transaction.
You'll see this option at step 3. of creating a bank rule.

Statements - Option to show receipts only when selecting Activity as the statement type
When selecting ACTIVITY under the Statements section, it would be helpful to filter receipts only. I can currently print a Statement of Activity using a custom advanced template I created, but I sometimes want to omit the invoices to show the client a list of receipts only in a nice report format. To recap, looking for a Statement of Activity, but only showing receipts for the period of time I select.
1 voteHi Kathi, having a bit of a play with reports this is possible through the use of the Customer Invoice Activity report.
You can add a Filter for Source to only select Receivable Payments - this would then show all payments your customers have made without detail of the individual invoices themselves - Have a try and let us know if this solves your needs here 😊

Fixed Assets - Prevent posting > 100% depreciation rate
Occasionally when doing data entry in Fixed Assets we have typed a depreciation rate of more than 100%. It would be good if there was an error message preventing this.
Thanks

BAS - Automatic Reconciliation of BAS Payments
Auto create entries for items included in “Amounts the Tax Offices owes you” and under the accounts of PAYGW, GST and PAYG, when an activity statement is created in Xero.
Purpose: Save time not having to manually create once Activity Statement is completed
14 votesHi community, we're developing the Activity Statement(BAS) to enable the option to create a draft bill or invoice directly from the BAS once finalised or filed for the period. We'll shift this idea across to Working on it and I'll come back to share more of the detail when it's available 😊

Projects detailed report - Adjust formatting of expenses in report
The projects detailed report shows the estimated expenses on separate lines to the actual expenses incurred against that estimate. It is a manual process in excel to move the expenses around so that the report can reflect Total estimate less total spent and balance remaining. While this information is available on the projects page, it can't be pulled out as a report which is frustrating.

Publishing Reports wiith and without watermarks
When we publish Finanical Statements with a watermark and then have a client meeting and there are no changes to the accounts we have to open the published report, copy and edit, republish it without the watermark. Then delete the first publish report. It would be a timesaver if we publish any report we have the ability to print it with and without a watermark.
This would be the case for 85% of our Financial Statements - no changes post draft stage.

Reporting: Executive Summary - Option to exclude accounts
In the executive summary report, could there be an option to exclude certain accounts similar to the business snapshot report. For example I would like to exclude the distribution of profit accounts in partnerships as this shows a false profit of $0.
Also can the variance also be expressed in a $ value in audition to the percentage value.
Apart from that Loving the reports

Xero App - Display more text on quotes and invoices on iOS
It would be nice to see the in-depth detail of each line of the quote/invoice so when discussing with customer or using as a check sheet to see what work is outstanding or to be completed.
currently if you have multiple lines you have to click each one until you find what you're looking for, easy to miss items you have quoted/charged for when on site,

MTD VAT - Ability to review without connecting to HMRC
Enable users to view a MTD VAT return without requiring a connection to HMRC.
Purpose: Often people who do not have the HMRC gateway details/ability to submit the return via MTD VAT need to review it or answer queries about it before the gateway holder submits it
14 votesThanks for your inputs, everyone. While we appreciate the interest around being able to view MTD VAT without needing to connect to the HMRC, this is not something that our team are looking to change at present. Xero currently requires a connection to HMRC to draw the period of the MTD VAT.
We'll keep a close eye on the appetite for this here, but for now we wanted to highlight options.
Currently, a client could export the MTD return and send it through to their advisor for review.
Alternatively, advisors can use the Non MTD VAT return to help them with the review process - This can be run and exported regardless of MTD credentials.- The return should be a mirror image of the MTD VAT return (unless adjustments / imports have been made to the MTD version) that'll also include any late claims for the period.

VAT - Partial Exemption Calculation
Ability to have a VAT partial exemption calculation.
Purpose: Because some industries (e.g. charity) have VAT partial exemption, having this ability would save users time in calculating the VAT.
31 votesHey everyone, appreciate that this idea's intent is to help save user's time in calculating the VAT, but I wanted to share that it is possible to record partial VAT exemptions, for those who aren't aware. We will continue to to track interest in this idea but in the meantime you can:
- Calculate your own your partial exemption adjustment amounts
- Enter them as VAT box adjustments on your non-MTD or MTD VAT return
Alternatively, if you use a set percentage adjustment you could do one of the following:
- Add a custom Tax Rate for your % rate.
- Adjust the VAT on each bill to the amount you can claim. Click the + next to the tax rate to do this. (You'll need to use the 'Amounts are' Tax Exclusive option to see it.)
We recommend you talk to your accounting advisor or HMRC if you need more help with this.
