Create an out of scope vat code as strictly speaking this is not actually any of the other codes that already exist despite being advised to use them.

Projects - Ability to assign to estimated expense category from the bills screen
When assigning a bill line to a project, it would be good to also be able to select the Estimated Expense category from this same screen rather than having to manually add from within the Project. Or at least be able to bulk assign from the Projects screen.

Fixed asset - Increase limit of 500
existing threshold for Xero fixed assets is 500 - increase this to 5,000 to avoid having to use a separate app (which are clunky / expensive) to manage fixed assets

Multicurrency - Supplier Statement in multi currency
The attached 'Supplier Statement' report has been 'retired'. Please consider reinstating this in Xero. We buy in euro and for financial audit purposes at every year end we need to issue this report. There is now nothing like this on Xero which makes no sense as we can't report without a mass of manual work to make a report outside of Xero.

New invoicing - Display price, quantity and VAT when viewing invoice on web via mobile
Customer/recipient view of invoices on mobile should display price/quantity/VAT.
Majority of our customers review their invoices on mobile browser. We use zero-quantity line items to include extra information/detail in our invoices, but the new format cuts out price/quantity/VAT when viewing an invoice on mobile, so these lines appear blank/empty.
Other invoices, where customers want to review the price and quantity on their invoice, not just the line total, are similarly inaccessible.
Understand that these areas have been removed to keep the mobile invoice condensed, but it now means key information is missing from the invoice, and is resulting in more…

Invoicing - Ability to update branding in bulk
Be able to bulk-edit Branding themes, due dates, and Descriptions, assigning projects for invoices

In terms of branding themes when you say you'd want to bulk update branding would this be detail within your branding themes, or the branding applied to invoices in Xero? If the latter, perhaps you'd find setting a default from your Contacts record a useful way to edit this?

Search bar navigation
Many of my clients complain that they 'can't find what they are looking for' when using the top search bar facility. I too often struggle to find things unless I am specific and know the exact detail of a posting. A search return of more options would be very beneficial listing all transactions in relation to any word or value typed into the search bar.
5 votesAppreciate your feedback on search in Xero, Laura. When you say you'd like more options for search are than any specific fields of transactions that you and your clients might commonly search - this'll help when sharing back with the team.
If say, you'd search text generally in the description field of a transaction I'll merge your idea here in with this one where we can keep you all updated of any change all together.

Assign expenses and receipt to Customer Invoice
When I reconcile an expense and attach a receipt, if I then assign that expense to a customer, I have to upload that receipt again to attach to invoice, can this not be changed? If an expense has a receipt attached, when this is assigned to a customer can it not just bring receipt along with it?

New invoicing - View payments details within invoice screen
When reviewing a payment for an invoice, you need to click 3 times to review the transaction details..going into 4 screens, as it's on a separate screen (1-invoice 2-payment 3-transaction 4-transaction details). It would be more efficient to have the transaction details screen build into the same screen as the transaction screen. I don't see a need for a 4th screen, especially when you have click to go back to the previous screens when investigating multiple payments.

Reporting - Custom Complex Formulas
Ability to create custom formulas in reporting, specifically to be able to (+) some accounts and (-) others. Support referred to this as custom complex formulas, but it is a simple formula. We just need to be able to customize them.

Reports - More detailed bank transaction report.
Add a more detailed bank transaction report.
It would be nice to generate a bank report that allows you to see the accounts booked in details. For example, if one transaction has multiple accounts, I can see what accounts where used and what amount. this would make it a lot easier to look over and control if you made some mistakes or did not included bank fees in the transaction.3 votesHi Ester, have you tried he Account transactions report? There's a 'related account' column that may suit your needs and will show the GL account that the transactions is coded to.

US Sales tax - 1099s: W9 submissions should create an actual document
So we send a W9 request and a vendor completes it, great. But this doesn't create a digital W9 form, it just modifies the information in the vendor's 1099 contact page. So if an auditor requests a copy of a vendor's W9, we have nothing to give them. And it's possible to override the changes made by the W9 submission, so there's no way to verify - say a year later - that the information on their contact page aligns with the W9 information they submitted. While we don’t create an exact replica of the form we’ve worked closely with our compliance team to make sure that if you are audited we can supply the information needed. We also cater for the event of W-9 information being overridden and needing W-9’s from previous years.
In terms of getting the information for an audit - while we don’t offer a self service option at the moment - if you need it you can submit a request to our support team and we’ll provide what you need for an audit 😊

Invoices/Bills - Feature to 'write off' as bad debt
At the moment, you need to raise a credit note to write off a bad debt, which then records the invoice as "paid" which is extremely irksome, and factually incorrect. There needs to be an actual "write off" option so that the debts don't show up constantly in your reports and you can claim a tax deduction for them, but they don't get recorded as paid.

Currently, there are ways to record a bad debt in Xero, depending on your tax registration status and how you want the transactions to be recorded in your reports - We have help for this on Xero Central you can draw into.
We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality to develop a button to write off invoices or bills as 'bad debt'. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

Reports - Export all excel reports in .xlsx format
Please create all excel exports from Xero in the currrent .xlsx format. Most still produce an old xls.file format (for instance Sales Tax Report) and need to be resaved to bring up to date.

Draft Invoices don't show on contact page anymore
Previously draft invoices would show up on the contact page for each contact. They don't show up any more? Hopefully this is not a new feature (bug) with the new invoicing? Creating a new invoice for a contact without being able to see a draft invoice already exists without having to go back to the draft invoice page is not efficient/
2 votesHi there, are you still noticing this behaviour? Having a test in the demo org, Draft invoices are shown in the Activity tab for a contact in both the All and Invoices tabs for transactions. If this is not the same behaviour that you're getting I'd recommend raising a case with our Xero Support team through Xero central who can get more detail to take a closer look into this with you 1-on-1. Profit & Loss - Ability to hide lines
On the P & L reports, there quite often extra lines at the bottom which aren't required this yr, but may be next year. which we don't need ie: Net loss/ profit before beneficiary dist , nor do we need before tax etc as a loss, just need the bottom line ( net Profit /Loss). Companies also have the same issue. Is there a way to "hide" these lines? if not , can we add this as a suggestion please. Don't want to delete, just hide or disable as necessary

Reporting - A more detailed Purchase Order report

The current work around of using the Outstanding Purchase Orders Summary report lacks a lot of the vital info that's needed to manage Purchase Orders and create accruals at month end. A report that shows all the - coding, tracking codes, dates, who created and who approved, Description, etc and ability to run reports on only those that are not Billed and both with and without detailed lines would be more helpful.19 votesHi everyone, thanks for your feedback here. We wanted to highlight for those in the conversation that it may help - There are Purchase order common formats in the Payable Invoice Detail report that you could use.
For example, in the All purchase orders detail report, you can add a column to show the account, tracking and any other line item info you need.
We want to be open that we don't have any plans right now for additional Purchase order reporting, however we'll continue to keep an eye on the idea here and share if there is any news.
