  1. The new cash summary report is not as user friendly as the old version.
The most common cash summary format used is a full year or YTD monthly report. In the old version it had the months listed so easy to go back to the end of month of last years financial year whereas now all the current options only refer to the last month or are a full year. When comparing with periods 11 months was the most common option used as wanted to compare a full year but now this has to be entered manually. If you want…

Appreciate the new version of report may take a few steps to set up and it can take some getting used to the changes from old to new, Alicia. Being open we don't plan to complete copy the older version.

Having a bit of a test, if you regularly compare the past 11 months you can set this in the Compare with  period = 11 and Months. Once run you can then use the Layout editor to move the columns oldest to newest.

If you then Save as custom you'll find that you can jump back into this formatting any time and update the Date range of the report which will hold the Compare with settings you've set up in the report.

  2. When Gusto is integrated with Xero, a bill is synced into Xero with the proper allocations of payroll related costs between wages, benefits, taxes, etc. That bill seems to work just fine. However, each time there is a bill synced into Xero, a user must manually mark that bill as paid by taking the amount from Gusto's payroll confirmation for Net pay and Taxes paid and entering each as a partial payment on the bill. Since the info is known, why can these payments not be synced into Xero as well? That would save manual steps each time a payroll…

Hey Andy, thanks for sharing your idea!

Whilst Gusto is our preferred payroll partner for the US, Xero doesn't develop or manage the integration. If you'd like to share your feedback around their Xero integration, I'd recommend chatting directly to Gusto. You can use their Contact page to reach out directly.

Hey Summer thanks for sharing this idea 😊

Currently, it is an HMRC requirement to display the hours worked on a payslip, if an employee's pay varies depending on time worked.

We'll be shifting this one to 'not planned', but if the requirements change in the future, definitely reach out again!

  4. Is there a way that if you file a payrun with Inland Revenue and it fails to files (as it can take up to 30 minutes) a notification is messaged to say that it has not filed. Similar to the message with email has have not uploaded.

    Hey Deb👋

The team have confirmed there are already notification emails in place for payday filing issues.

Payroll admins in your organisation should receive this message to their Xero log in email address.

If you're having trouble with those email notifciations, our support team can help 😊 You can raise a case here.

  5. As accountants we are busy busy busy and I understand everyone is busy today but we are up against HARD DEADLINES almost daily in our business. Every extra "click" added in Xero over the last months have added extra time it takes to do our jobs. The extra clicks it takes to get to the last month Bank Rec is stupid crazy. No one reconciles their bank to "today" - we don't even have bank statements to reconcile to until month end and that is what we need our bank recs to reflect. When Xero updates it's product, it seems…

Appreciate your feedback on the changes across Xero, Jackie. Being open it is hard to understand true interest and communicate on ideas that span many features and areas of Xero, and for this reason we will mark the idea as not planned.

There are some necessary changes that in some places may add more change a previous flow you may have grown accustom through our building on beautiful work

Our teams are conscious of this and working wherever possible to increase simplicity for the way customers work in Xero.

Thanks for engaging and sharing your idea in community here, Yoash. Though very appreciative of the differing format needs across the globe, we want to be honest that we don't have plans for enabling export of data from Xero in a bkmv format.

You could use a format converter application outside of Xero to convert the file the format required by differing authorities. Thanks

  7. Currently if you create a bill, it credits the Accounts Payable liability account and there is no way to change this.

Hi team, looping back it'd be good to explain a little more of how Xero works to help in the understanding here. Xero handles a lot of the double entry bookkeeping for you.

Accounts Payable is a system account that Xero doesn't allow direct posting(manual journals) too. The only way to impact this account is through posting Bills, Supplier Credit notes and Payments to these transactions. This ensures the account is always in balance.

At an individual level, Xero keeps a record of supplier debts based on the Contact entered on the transaction, and you impact the expense account based on the account selected for each line of your transaction.

I do want to be upfront that we don't have intentions of changing the behaviour of how this works in Xero. However, it'd be good to hear more detail if there are specific reasons or other ways in which you'd…

  8. I don't know if this should go down as a feature request or a bug.

Most of our clients are set up through "GoCardless for Xero" in order to automate payments. This works great for regular, scheduled payments. However, when I need to create one-off invoices for clients who are set up in our GoCardless for Xero there's no way to send the invoice to the client without automatically scheduling the payment in GoCardless. This is not ideal because sometimes I want to send the invoice to the client so they can give the go ahead before I actually schedule…

Thanks for raising this here, Xavier.

Checking in with our payments team I can confirm that this is working as designed, with no intentions to change this behaviour - The GoCardless for Xero integration is intended to auto schedule the payment of invoices generated from repeating invoice templates in Xero.

Appreciate there are scenarios where you may not want to apply auto scheduling and we'd recommend touching base with GoCardless who can advise about managing which invoice payments are collected via the GoCardless for Xero integration.

  9. Could we please have an option to add a second emergency contact for our employees.

Currently when creating a new employee we only have one space for an emergency contact. However, in the case of an actual emergency only one contact may not be enough, a second contact gives a much higher chance of being able to get in contact with someone.

Hi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here.

We appreciate being able to easily add a secondary emergency contact to the details tab of the employee record is important to you.

Atm, you could use the notes tab to add a new note to the employee record and include the details in here.

To be open we don't have direct plans for making this change within the details tab any time in the near future.

Thanks for your suggestion, Lynn. There are no plans to streamline ending employment or adding employee end dates for our Global Pay Run product.

Currently, you can archive the employee’s contact in Pay Run - This way the contact won't appear in future pay runs, but you can still access their payment history.

Pay run is a lightweight, simple payroll tool for paying a few employees in your base currency, as well as running pay reports and managing basic employee information. If you need a more full-featured payroll experience in the global version of Xero, we'd recommend checking out payroll app partners.

  11. While the new search function in Reports is excellent, especially as there are so many in the overflow button of each listed report, it is not possible to mark the report shown in the search results as a favourite.

It would be great if there could be the option to either go to the report directly, or go to the report in the list so it can be marked as a favourite - or better still have the option to mark it as a favourite from within the search results list.

Alternatively, if the search results provided details of where…

Thanks for your interaction in Xero Product Ideas, and sharing with us here. Being transparent, we don't have intentions of adding the ability to favourite from the Search menu in Xero.

We understand wanting to swiftly locate and favourite your reports. Right now, perhaps using Ctrl+F (Control Find) to search the name of the report and quickly navigate to this on any webpage.

Totally understand why those that use Braintree as a payment service would like to connect this as a bank feed in Xero.

Xero has an open API which enables third-parties who are interested to build connections with us themselves. If not already, we’d recommend approaching Braintree to let them know this is something you’d like to see. They can find out more on building an integration with us through our Developer Community or they can register their interest here

  13. By removing locked accounts gives greater flexibility when journalising - ie any posting to any posting. There can never be any differences re "control" accounts as the ledger is merely the sum of its parts. Presumably currently the software structure is set to require locked accounts -may be too big an ask but believe no locked accounts are more modern and the only route to go

Hi Nic, appreciate why you'd like the ability to freely post to any account, however locked and system accounts in Xero are set up for specific reason and are needed in order to calculate and report - You can read more of the reason for these here in Xero central

If there's something specific you're needing help with around this our team of specialists at Support may be able to help explain how to go about this with Xero.

  14. More flexibility of packages available for small business allowing them to do add-ons on their packages like for example subscribing to the Cashbook or Starter package and then "buying" an add-on for extra invoices. Some small business don't need all the extras of the standard/premier package, but need some extra functions on the Cashbook or Starter packages. Maybe if there is a bit flexibility in the composition of the Cashbook or Starter packages where the client can choose (limited) what he want in his package. This will make it more affordable for them. Xero will also be more competitive with…

    Thanks for the feedback, Elsabe.

I'm sorry to hear some of your clients find the limits of our starter or cash book plans insufficient for their business.

We provide specific bundles that meet the transaction and feature requirements of the majority of organisations.

Like most businesses, we regularly review our pricing and the value we deliver to our customers, however we do want to be upfront that we don't have plans for enabling customised subscription plans as you're suggesting here atm.

  15. Reading through some of the suggestions from clients and they all have a similar background theme - the reporting engine in Xero is decades behind what should a rich and easy to use reporting engine. Unfortunately it just doesn't exist. The back end data is difficult to access and find the correct meta data to even start building something that is remotely useable. There is nothing simple or easy about creating a report in Xero - there are a plethora of BI tools on the market that could partner with Xero to produce quick informative reports that are easily customised…

Appreciate the feedback, Alex - However this is quite difficult to consider in terms of the change you'd be looking for our teams to make or develop for.

Could you please detail of use cases or scenarios when you're trying to find data pull into a report or which direct fields you're hoping to report on in Xero? Thanks

  16. Barcoding for inventory for quick and easy adjustments. Scan a barcode in "Products and Services" then enter amount and record as stock take.
At present I have to buy a very expensive app, to do this, that does a whole load of other things that I don't need, or Xero already does 10 times better than they do! It's crazy!
I'd even pay double my Xero subscription for this feature. These 3rd party apps are a rip off!

Appreciate you'd like to use Xero to complete this process, James. Being open, developing the ability to import stocks through barcode scanning isn't planned, and as you've noted there are specific apps in the marketplace that can fulfill this need.

Hello Community, as mentioned by Kelly in our last update - we really need to have more understanding of the specific SSO provider you'd like to integrate with.

That being said, we're going to close the idea here as being too broad. For example, we have an existing idea about Azure SSO here that you can join in and add your vote, if you’re interested in seeing changes in this space.

Hey David, thanks for sharing this idea - appreciate that you're looking out for your information security!

As the .aba file needs to be accessed and read by your banking partner, it's not possible to create an encrypted one.

We're not aware of any banks that currently accept (and subsequently decrypt) encrypted .aba files.

However, if that changes in the future, I'd encourage to submit a similar idea for your specific bank 😊

Can you please add the "Quotes" direct link (same as "See All") somewhere in the front page? Either directly in the Dashboard or under a menu like "Accounts"

    Hi Community!

Appreciate being able to quickly create a quote from the dashboard is something you’d like to see here.

Being open with everyone, we don’t have plans for developing a button to create a quote from the Dashboard and we’ll leave this idea closed to set the right expectation.

However, it’s worth noting that there are shortcuts that’ll take you through to the ‘All Quotes’ and ‘Add new Quote’ screens.

When you see the search bar in the top right of the screen, you can click this and enter the letter Q to jump straight to quotes.
